Now the selection here while similar to Souvenir City does have some different things so you might want to just take the time to look in both stores to ensure you don't miss something really cool on sale that you never would have dreamed you needed or wanted. Some of the items here also seem to be of less quality than some other places. Overall since Souvenir City and Purple Octopus are so close to each other you might as well check out both.

Like most customers, we assumed this was primarily to make sure the cart was safe to operate, not to document every tiny cosmetic imperfection. There were no safety issues, and we weren't given any checklist or documentation showing the cart's condition before we took possession. When we returned the cart, they pointed out a small scratch and charged us an additional $110. We explained that we did not cause the damage and asked if they had any photos or records showing the cart was scratch-free before we rented it. Their response was simply, "No, we let y'all inspect it." Expecting customers to identify and document every minor cosmetic blemish without providing a condition report, photos, or any record of the cart's pre-rental condition is not a fair business practice. If a company is going to charge customers for damage, they should also have a documented inspection process to establish the condition of the equipment before and after each rental. Our experience left us feeling like the burden of proof was placed entirely on the customer. I would encourage anyone renting from Beach Planet to thoroughly photograph and video every inch of the golf cart before leaving, or consider renting from another company that has a more transparent and documented damage policy. However, we had a fun time with the golf cart.

First off this place is located at The Wharf, a very cool shopping, marina, dining & entertainment complex in Orange Beach, and you can find them on the same side of the complex in the shadow of the Ferris wheel next to STK burger. We were greeted at the door by Steve, a very charming & welcoming gentleman, who immediately asked us if we would like a margarita. Wait, what? This is a tropical apparel type place, not a pub or Taqueria so naturally, I asked how much were their margaritas. The reply was a surprise and fun "they're complimentary". Wait, what? LOL Steve informs us that he is allowed to serve alcohol but cannot sell it, hence free, AND you can even take the drink with you and walk around The Wharf, like Bourbon or Beale Streets. Wait, what? I was very surprised by the free booze and I rarely drink :-) Anyway, on to the store, it is a very charming place with a focus on beachwear & some other cool stuff. I was disappointed because he had some cool flip flops and somebody bought the last size 13's :-( There's some designer stuff, I have no clue because I don't do labels, but other stuff I recognize like Tommy Bahama :-) There's a lot of very cool Buddhas and even cowboy hats, what? I was actually lured in by a dress that the mannequin outside was wearing, and ended up buying it (the last one!) I was the only one in there (it was a Monday morning), and the friendly and attentive girl working there pretty much gave me her full attention. Cute place, worth poking your head into.

They do a great job with stock, displsts, etc. and always clean, neat and the folks are always friendly. I have had some stang out experiences with the framing and art department but last year I had a super lady there that help me pick my very first time buying fake flowers for a fall hanging basket. She stayed right with me for a long time and did the assembling for me, she was magic! The newest thing is a big Amazon automated pick up box in the front which I utilized for the first time today. Bottom line: This is a great store with really good people and they deserve a 5 star now! Highly recommended!! 5/31/26

Today we hung out ealting nachos and cannoli's while listening to the duo Sound Decision. It was their May 2021Summer Social event with live music, food, local art and fun. We sat in the big sand pit at covered picnic tables and there's also comfy rustic chairs around the stage. This is a very tastefully done outdoor venue that has some nice shops and is an excellent addition to our local community and economy. Bottom line: There's some unique food,fabulous bakery, art, and professional studios here. Check 'em out!
