Imagine my surprise when we were told that they have plenty of seating inside, may be a few outside tables but to be aware that there was a private function outside. Car park was full and we had to park on a verge, then navigate our way past the bar with jugs of Pimms (for the private party) and the bouncy castle (for the private party). The waitress found us a table at the back of the pub where some of the private party were but was away from the music and the noisy children. The waitress brought us the menus and asked if we'd like to order drinks and told us to order food at the bar. However, when she returned with our drinks, she took our food order. No doubt taking pity on the guy walking with sticks and the woman with her foot in a Barco boot! I haven't had a very big appetite since my foot surgery so opted for the halloumi and red pepper stack on ciabatta bread whilst my husband had the salmon. Have to say that the food was really nice! Felt that the waiting staff went out of their way to be helpful! Wasn't sure that I would want dessert but the passion fruit eton mess was tempting and husband was having nuttela gnocchi so, why not? Sometimes eton mess is really rich and sweet but can honestly say that the passion fruit eton mess had just the right mix of tart and sweetness, I highly recommend it! This pub might be in the middle of nowhere but the menu is good and the service excellent, and there's not many places where I've been able to say that!

Before I knew that, I asked if I could see a menu and they said I could take any table, but it would be a 15 minute wait. I took one, found my beer to be incorrect and could not get anyone's attention for five minutes to fix it. I waited for a waiter or waitress to come by - nothing. I never received a menu for 35 minutes, before finally one was dropped off with the stipulation that I would need to wait 5 minutes before I ordered. By that time I finished the cask. 20 minutes later, no one came to take my order. Within that time, new patrons came in, were seated and served right next to me. When someone finally came, they asked if I wanted to order, and I replied, "No thank you". They sighed and mouthed off saying they were trying their best; however, they never once tried to offer me another drink or offered me an option like a starter. They were just a poorly run bar.

The barman was a chatty friendly bloke and it would seem really enjoyed his job - which makes a difference. There is a good selection of drinks on sale here and they are happy to mix it up a bit if you ask for something "off-piste". It is very well looked after and everything is clean and tidy. You can hire this place out for occasions and the staff will work with you on what exactly you want. There is a patio area to the rear, which is lovely and quiet and you forget that you are near a main road. Good prices, fantastic service, I am definitely going to be making this one of my preferred local pubs to go to. If reviews did emojis, I'd probably insert a heart blowing kiss one here.

I had Cream Tea for around £6ish, it was good, not the greatest I've ever had. Another visit, I came on a Sunday afternoon which was busy. Again a cosy small pub inside. I liked that they had Sunday papers to read while I enjoy a drink. I will return to try their food next time.
