This is a kebab shop, but about as far away as the row of greasy kebab selling places at the bottom of Park Street (Bristol's number one location for a fight on a Saturday night, incidentaly). Good quality meat, not horribly greasy, and excellently seasoned. This is somewhere to go for a meal, not just for a end of the night. Although, whilst the food's restaurant quality, there isn't really anywhere to sit, so it's probably best to order out. Go to the Cedar Express to get a proper kebab rather than something that'll clog your arteries.

First things first; the restaurant is comic book themed. Everything from the walls, floor, menu and windows is covered in marvel-style comic book pictures. That obviously makes it a great place to take kids, but you'll also find lots of couples, groups and students. It's probably not the best place for a business lunch. Me and my girlfriend went for the first time yesterday and it was great to sit outside and make the most of the sun. We sat on the same table as another couple and got chatting to them. They had been to Atomic Burger MANY times and were on a quest to try every burger on the menu. If you do then you get 20% off for 12 months. Just ask for a sticker after your meal and if you collect them all you get the life discount. The couple both had cocktails that had a bottle of Sol larger upside down in the glass - I didn't care what it was, I wanted one! After ordering "whatever they've got" it turned out to be a 'largerita' which was SO good! The Sol slowly tops up your margarita as you drink - genius! I'm a sucker for a gimmick! The menu is big and actually a little bit confusing. I went with the LLAP: beef burger, pulled chicken, blue cheese sauce, Louisiana hot sauce and spring onion. It was amazing! I had the garlic and chilli fries which were also really good. The best thing for me though, was the beavers jalapeño mustard. Mmmm, beavers jalapeño muuuustard!! A must try if you like spicy food. We left, met some friends at another bar, and then went back to Atomic Burger to show them the largeritas. In the traditional manner the shop is split in two by a long hot shelf with various treats sitting behind the glass, lagged in batter and grease, but enticing nonetheless. You see, one is rarely put off by such displays for one has walked into the shop in the first place. Once inside it's a wide choice of kebabs, burgers and pies. Long time runners such as fish and chips, the Donner kebab and cheesy chips are always in high demand with the mix of local and student clientele. A good selection of cold drinks and salad, plus the guys behind the counter are always laughing and smiling - this is definitely one of the better places for late night food in Stokes Croft.

I'm not sure what they're doing to them, or what they're even made from (potato you would assume) but for some reason they taste very strange to me. Secondly, and this is my main problem. It is so darn expensive for what is essentially a fast food burger joint. You shouldn't have to pay over £6 for a meal at these sorts of places, not when McDonalds are still in the 3-4 pound range for very similar meals. This one in the Mall is in one of those annoying food courts that are always dirty with left over plates and cups from previous eaters.
