She got covid while at this place in December and the insurance refuse to pick up the cost for that month. They was under lockdown due to the cases of covid in there. Now they are sending me a bill for something that happened at the start of where she was paying for it 3 months ago. They refused to give her any option of any other care facility that would have been cheaper other than to go home. I knew that they was going to bleed my mother dry of any savings she had. Be warned of this place. Ask for any options after the insurance stops paying, find another place that is cheaper by half and do it before the insurance rans out.

This place is so unique and it is because of the staff: they are really committed to help the residents, they are kind and helpful and the care in this facility is simply excellent. As an RN with over 20 years experience, I did through research on Chattanooga area assisted living. I then took her around to visit these places so we could make make a choice. Although Summitview was an old building, the staff was GREAT! They were the most accommodating on things such as special diets, were the most affordable, and didn't have add-on or hidden charges Most important of all, my mother felt more comfortable there. After 2 years, she died at Summittview in her sleep. They had never raised their prices but more importantly, they provided excellent care. I will always be grateful to them and would highly recommend them.

Awesome ER Service! Fast and Friendly!…read more Everyone was great during my ER visit today! I checked in easily, the wait was maybe 25 min long. I was seen by a blonde female Physician's Assistant who took great care of me and got me on my way. I thought I blew my eardrum but I only had a bad ear infection, so happy surprise not to have blown my ear out! The blond RN was super friendly too! All in all this was a great trip and now I can start to get better! Thanks everyone!

Unlike earlier in the pandemic when they were bringing food to residents' units, even after the large rise in cases around the Thanksgiving holiday, the DINING ROOM continues to be open. Today I found out my father has been diagnosed with COVID; although he wears a mask there are MANY residents who have been very careless about that. I blame them and the management for not taking the proper precautions with gatherings, including having a "Christmas Party" and keeping the dining room open. Please get wise about this virus!!

Apartments have nice finishes and are also well done. 5 stars for the staff - everyone is friendly, professional, nice, and takes care of the residents. Great people work here in every aspect of the facility. 3 stars for activities- hoping this improves as Ashwood grows. Not many activities overall and none that are mind- expanding or brian-developing. All of the activities are passive. 2 stars for food - this area needs major improvement. Same two soups for lunch and dinner each day, salad bar lacks variety and lettuce is wilted, no fresh fruit - only canned, not enough variety, both in terms of the food itself and nutrition - if fish (fried) is the main meal, then one of the soups is fish, if chicken is one of the main meals, then there is a chicken soup, food need a to be kept warm for the entire time of service, not just the beginning times of each mealtime. Hopefully the food quality will improve sooner than later. Will update review if/when that happens.

Before I begin, the Nurse Practitioners and most physical therapists here are fantastic!…read more But I sat every day with my great grandmother and observed very untrained, careless CNAs avoid doing their job every single day. My great grandmother just had surgery, she has staples and an oozing scar. Every time her drainage got on her clothes and bed sheets they gave her disgusted looks and made her sit in it for HOURS before coming to change her bandages, clothes, or bedsheets. They even try to tell us she doesn't need it changed as it's obviously wet and the bed is obviously stained with blood and pus. CNAs would rather go eat and go on break than take 10 seconds to change her bedding! I asked them if they would like to lay in that bed. I didn't think so! CNAs are not legally allowed to change oxygen tubing or tanks because they are not properly trained, although if they are trained to do so, they are allowed. I do not know their training here but I know their CNAs are IMPROPERLY TRAINED. They would take her oxygen off and have her do things without it Bc they were too lazy to move her tubing to a portable tank. And when they did move her tubing to a portable tank, they didn't bother to check how many liters of oxygen she needed and gave her less or more of what she is prescribed. This could cause oxygen poisoning and KILL YOUR LOVED ONE. IF YOU COME HERE, keep an eye on the CNAs. They will do whatever they can to be lazy and avoid things. And it doesn't take much schooling to be a CNA. Do not trust that they always know what they are doing! Know YOUR facts, and correct them when they try to get away with things!

While it is a beautiful facility and a few of their staff are very nice especially Nurse Doug who my grandmother adorned, overall I don't recommend this facility and don't have anything good to say. No one really seems to care about the care plan set, they don't communicate, they failed to give my grandmother pain medication as they said they were doing, they wouldn't get her out of bed, or encourage her to eat. Overall they just failed to give her the attention she needed. When you would go to the nurses stand for help you were ignored. I would have to say can someone assist me. Their personal conversations seemed more important. They would just sit while call buttons rang. I called the executive director twice and left messages. I never received call backs and she was rarely in when I visited to try to speak with her. I even told the Nurse Manager and Social Worker that I demanded she call me. Nothing. I think this is a major lack of staffing and leadership issue. It is time to get a new executive director. I am a firm believer that leaders lead and associates follow. Leaders are a direct reflection of their staff. It is amazing to me having moved her to Life Care of Collegedale the night and day difference. On the other hand I highly recommend Life Care of Collegedale. They take time with her. They have her up every morning. They get her out of her room. They listen to her needs. They place large bibs on her. She eats with other people in the dining room which I begged Ooltewah to do and they never did. They are friendly and attentive. They discovered a major issue with her medication right off the bat, and I could barely get the doctor at Life Care of Ooltewah to take the time to review anything. It was amazing the responds on the NextDoor when someone inquired about this location and many wrote about the same issues we had. Please do not place your love ones in their care. Also, a private room is over $3,000 per month more than Collegedale, but Life Care Collegedale has clearly been renovated. So I pose the question what am I paying for? It is clearly not service. I share this so many others don't go through the same experience my family did. I wish I had asked around before placing her at the Ooltewah location in the first place.
