Awesome little place in Sandy! I drive right by it all the time and never think to actually go in. There's no parking lot, so you just have to park outside in front. Walked in and the store clerk helped us right away. She was very helpful. Explained the selection and gave us a box to load some sodas. They have everything! I recommend you try the Maple root beer...SUPER GOOD. The vanilla root beer float is also amazing. They also have candies in the back. I don't drink tons of soda, but root beer is one of my favs and will definitely be stopping by when I get the craving. :) read more

Pretty cool store if you like root beer! They have tons of varieties and the person working was very nice in explaining everything to us location of drinks. I wouldn't but common brands from here. Seems more expensive. They also have taffy area. It is a messy store. Boxes everywhere but they do give you a box to put your bottle inside. I think rearranging things would be helpful. read more

I would imagine that this place once used to be a legitimate "root beer store" - I suspect those days are gone! Its barely filled shelves are stocked with non-root beer products now. Coke? Shasta? Really? Going to Walmart to fill your empty shelves to make it appear you have stock is rather sad. Looking at photos and reviews from a few years ago, makes it appear this was once a thriving business with variety and a focus on actual rootbeer. That just isn't the case anymore. I don't get the high rating for this place. It's an absolute mess inside, and I was stepping around and tripping over shipping boxes and crates while trying to shop. Even worse, there either wasn't any air conditioning or it was broken the day I visited, but it was HOT inside. Sure, they have lots of root beer selections in bottles, but they are out on the shelves and aren't cold! Who wants to buy a single bottle of artisan or hard-to-find root beer or soda that's at room temperature? Many of their selections were things you can find anywhere, but at a marked-up price. We selected a few (warm) bottles of root beer and went to pay. The teenager at the counter said they "only take Venmo." Uh, super sketchy, right? I paid him with Venmo and went on my way. Something didn't feel right about that. I found this to be a highly unpleasant store to shop in, and I won't be back. read more

This place is one of a kind! I'm not sure what rating to give this store. It has numerous shortcomings, but I feel like all of them would be ameliorated if it got more customers, and I don't want to give it a low rating that would hamper that. This store is a delight to visit, and I want it to thrive! So instead, I'll just name the primary shortcoming: The hours it's open seem to have little correlation to those posted. I highly recommend calling in advance to make sure they're actually open! As for the plusses, I love the fabulous variety of their offerings! I brought home a smattering of options, some root beer and some other unusual flavors, and my friends and I had a lot of fun doing a taste test. I particularly enjoyed the "gag gift" section--I'd never have expected "dirt" soda to taste so intriguing! I look forward to visiting again. read more

Cute little store with so many kinds of drinks. They do not carry just root beer at the store but have lime, cherry, lemon, and many other flavors of drinks. The majority of the drinks are sold in glass bottles. They have a candy section where you can buy root beer barrels and many different flavors of salt water taffy. The taffy was more on the hard side so it was not soft and gooey. Some of the signs were ripped off or missing so I wasn't sure exactly what kind of taffy I bought before I tried it. The candy is pay per pound. The store is so cute I love how they've got the old wood floor and the old wooden shelves. I felt like I was in a cute little country store when I walked in. The first thing I noticed when I walked through the door was the smell of root beer-in all different forms. Of course, there's the drinks in a bottle. But you can get hard candies, taffy and even root beer scented candles. Yup, it's your one stop shop for all things root beer. You can tell it's a family owned place-people were stocking shelves while a baby was nearby happily munching on a piece of cardboard. I noticed there was a sample table set up, but it was blocked by the baby and some empty boxes. Cool idea-maybe next time I'll try some new varieties of the old favorite. Bottoms up! read more

Not only does the Root Beer Store have lots of varieties of root beer, but they have lots of other obscure soda drinks and brands. Lots of novelty drinks that would make funny gifts. The drinks seemed to be over $2 up to $10 for a really high end soda. This location seems to have very little parking. read more

Pretty simple. A store that mostly sells root beer. This small line of shops made it to Utah. Upon entry, pick up one of the paper carriers from the barrel to start your shopping. Great way to reuse packaging. Most of the sodas are about $2.49 each. If you can't wait and need a cold one, there's a fridge by the entrance. There's a wide selection of the well and not so well known brews. The store is still being worked on so hopefully they'll start having events in the event space. I wish I could give this place 6 stars!!! It had EVERYTHING!!!!! Sodas that were popular from days gone by (RC, Bubble Up, etc), fruit flavored sodas, sarsaparillas, over a hundred different rootbeers, candy, even chapstick and hand sanitizer!!! The first Saturday of every month they do tastings from 11am-6pm. This store is bursting at the seams, has tricky parking, and I don't care!!! There is zero alcohol on the premises. We got a ton and made my husband's birthday party into a tasting party It was a huge hit!!! I can't wait to go back and we'll probably end up joining the rootbeer of the month club! read more

This store is our favorite place to go for dates. My kids go there every time they have a few extra bucks and they take a friend or sibling along. Do not shop at this business! I am a former employee and the management doesn't care about its employees. You have to wait 6 weeks before your first paycheck, then after that it's when he wants to pay you! He didn't want to get garage can to throw away garbage which is all around the store. In the back room there are mice and they are nesting in the boxes. My last day of employment was February 23. 2024 and he wasn't paid me out nor has he sent me a W2 nor a paystub. I'm familiar with The Root Beer Store locations in Washington State so when I saw this one was opening I was excited to check it out. If you're looking to see what else is out there in the world of so-dee-pop, this place should be at the top of your list. They have all my favorites, except dismayingly - Swamp Pop's Praline Cream Soda...(get with the program guys.) I've been to the store a few times and loved it. Drove up a few times a couple different days And they were closed right in the middle of the day. Big sign on the front door saying that they would be open that day at a certain time and they were not. So I left and came back later and they were still closed. Called multiple times with no response or to no avail. From the looks on the outside it looks like it hasn't been in business for years. And it seems like they're compensating from lack of revenue by increasing the prices to where I can't afford a bottle. Too bad though it's a great idea. read more

They have tons of other sodas, like strawberry soda and cream soda, in addition to tons of root beer options to choose from. This store is packed full of interesting root beers, cream sodas, gingerbeers, etc. It was great to browse around and even better, the staff is very knowledgeable about their products and were able to give great recommendations based on our sweetness and flavor preferences. I would absolutely recommend this place, except those who need a lot of room to move. The store is really STUFFED to the brim and aisles are small. On the way to have lunch with my gf I passed this old-timey looking building with a yuge sign "over 100 brands of root beer". And, any store with the name of The Root Beer Store had best be the best. So, after lunch I went back on State St. looking for The Root Beer Store. I promptly passed it, missed the quick U-turn on State St. (going north) had to turn at the signal (where it said "no U-turn"). Long story short it was a process to get back to it. When I finally did, it was well-worth it. Great store (warehouse style) with a personable clerk (turns out it was the owner...young guy who inherited the store from his dad). He gave me a brief tutorial on root beers and related items. I bought 2 six-packs of different brands with different usages (root beer floats, ginger ales, etc). I told him I was on the way back to my home in Park City and he recommended something icy-cold from the fridge. It was a wonderful drive home. I'm about to go shopping for vanilla bean ice cream to make a root beer float. This is my go-to root beer outlet hence forth.
