After checking references, I chose Cordray Roofing. Their references were excellent, and we drove by houses they had roofed and were impressed by their work. Cordray was not the cheapest bid, but their extra cost was in labor, not materials. I did not want a crew that was rushing through my job in order to get to the next job, I wanted a crew that treated my roof as if they were working on their own house. That is what I got with Chente and his team. They did an excellent job! They removed two layers of shingles and the tar paper layer and found four spots where the plank decking was rotten. All four spots were redecked at no additional charge. The crew was polite, professional, and worked their tails off, completing the entire job in four days. The finished roof looks fantastic, better than we had expected! The workmanship is impeccable, including small finishing touches that give a clean, tight appearance. There are two things I must mention regarding Cordray's business practices. First, when the shingles were delivered, the delivery driver thought he saw a third layer of cedar shingles under the two layers of asphalt. That was not included in the bid, and would cost another $700 - $900 to remove. Cordray told me that this was an error on their part, and they would not charge me for removing the additional layer. Once they started tear-off, they discovered that there was no third layer, just a row of cedar shingles along the edge to reinforce the overhang of the asphalt layer. I'm sure that was a relief to them, but I was still impressed that they stepped up and stood behind their estimate. Second, even though the roofers took precautions by putting up tarps and plywood during tear-off to protect the house, one of our window screens was torn by falling debris. These are rather expensive "invisible" screens and the tear was not easy to see. I did not notice the damage for four months. When I did see it, I contacted Cordray, not really expecting them to do anything. After all it was months after the project was completed. Jeff Cordray asked me to send a photo of the damage, which I did. He immediately informed me that he would cover the full cost of the replacement, and even worked directly with Andersen windows to pay for it. To say Cordray Roofing is a class act would be an understatement. From start to finish, they exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend them to anyone need roofing or other work done on the home.

The communication that had been so key early on had faded, and I honestly didn't know if we were on the schedule or had been completely punted. I had to follow up to ensure things were on track. It took multiple weeks to have someone out. I think it's because of the frequent rains throwing off the schedule, but again it felt my messages were sort of going to a void. They gave me about an hours notice when someone was coming out, and he did a really nice job. I was very surprised when I got the bill and it was $125 more than it's ever been in the past. Especially surprising because the email thread we had been going back and forth in had our prior invoice at $275, not at $400. When I asked what was up they cited that it took their employee three hours and my gutters were more clogged than before. To me, nothing has really changed, if anything we have had more trees trimmed back, and more importantly, I didn't know that would affect the cost so dramatically. It had been under a year and half since I last had them out. Had I known, I absolutely would've gone with a more reasonable option. I also felt like their response was a bit off-putting, and I'm surprised because again we've hired them at least three times and I've had such positive interactions up until now. I'll be looking elsewhere moving forward; they do a nice job, and are a professional enough company, but the lack of customer service and shockingly high bill will have me finding a new go-to for my annual gutter cleanings.

One guy came out and told me he could contact my insurance company and tell them my roof had been damaged from a storm. We'd not had any damage to our roof from storms and that's bordering on insurance fraud. I decided to check out Yelp recommendations and saw that Easton had a lot of good reviews. When I called, they were very nice and told me they'd send someone out. The guys from Easton were there on time and they gave me an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable so I called to schedule the repair. The workers were very nice, professional, timely and they were there everyday until it was finished. They cleaned up after the repair so I wasn't finding random pieces of roofing material. Everyone, from the woman who answered the phone to the guys who did the repair was very nice and the whole process was seamless. Easton completed the repair and after years of checking ceilings, I can finally relax. Another contractor I'd used to remodel our house often needed access to the roof. I didn't ask him to check the flat roof but while he was up there, he wanted to check it out. He assured me they'd done a very good job and then asked for their info so he'd have the name of a good roofing company if one of his clients was looking to replace their roof. When an outstanding contractor is impressed with the work done by another company and asking for the company's info, that says a lot. If we have to replace our roof, we'll definitely use Easton and if anyone needs a roof replacement or repair, I highly recommend them. They've earned those 5 star reviews.
