It's technically New Hartford I guess, but it's as close to Utica as I've ever really gotten. And you know what? I'd come back. Nicky Doodles is basically just a roadside burger stand. It's not fancy, but it hits the spot. I had a burger, my kids had chicken fingers, and we all had fries and ice cream. And all of it tasted good, and it was served up by some nice girls in the window. There's nothing I'd like to change except the fact that one of my kids just seems to use food as a spoon for ketchup. Maybe she'll grow out of it?

Mine was delicious and the cone was crispy and fresh and actually one of the best I've ever had. My only minor complaint is that I had zero walnuts in my ice cream! That could have just been because it was the bottom of the tub??? The flavor of the maple was excellent. My husband loved his flavors but said he liked the strawberry best. They had seating outside.

Their prices are reasonable and the serving sizes generous. The "Creamery" part of their name is exemplified in their soft serve. It is creamy, thick, and doesn't melt right away like other ice creams might. I've tried the soft serve, hard flavors, and their version of a flurry/blizzard/etc. and can recommend all. A cool fact about the Creamery: it was opened by the local Masonic Lodge and their goal is to use profits to give back to the community. Very cool. Not much else to say here. Head to Cazenovia to check out the lake, have dinner at one of the great local restaurants, and finish up with dessert at the Nelson Creamery.
