This…read moreis definitely a quintessential ice cream stand in North Utica and one of the few places you can still get homemade Italian Lemon Ice. My only wish was the lemon ice wasn't as sweet and a bit more tart but it was still good. They have outdoor seating so we took advantage of the beautiful weather and ate our ice outside. I'm only sharing this because the note I left myself after eating at Nicky Doodles was: "Utica, bitches." That's right. This is Utica. It's technically New Hartford I guess, but it's as close to Utica as I've ever really gotten. And you know what? I'd come back. Nicky Doodles is basically just a roadside burger stand. It's not fancy, but it hits the spot. I had a burger, my kids had chicken fingers, and we all had fries and ice cream. And all of it tasted good, and it was served up by some nice girls in the window. There's nothing I'd like to change except the fact that one of my kids just seems to use food as a spoon for ketchup. Maybe she'll grow out of it?

The place has an inside counter area with indoor seating with air conditioned comfort. There's also an outside order window and a few purple picnic tables in front (no smoking is allowed in front of the shop, so others can enjoy their ice cream. This is a great rule). I stopped here recently on a very hot Saturday night. Since just ate dinner at a nearby restaurant, I decided to order my dessert at Woody's. I got a double scoop of Colombian Coffee hard ice cream cone, which came out to about $3 and change. The ice cream cone was pretty big and a very refreshing treat for dessert. I will definitely have to return to Woody's for a Boston shake on my next visit to Herkimer. CASH ONLY
