Great experience and way to spend an evening in Sydney. You don't need to believe in the ghosts to appreciate and enjoy this tour. Yes, all the stories told involve a "haunted" location and stories are told about what horrible even occurred there and what people have claimed to have seen/heard over the years, but each story is history lesson. Whether haunted or not, whether there are ghosts at these location or not, the fact is the stories are true. Murders/deaths that occurred at the location you're taken to are told first from a historical point of view and then your ghost host will tell you about what people have seen and heard over the years.
If you've been around the Rocks before, you will be surprised to learn what has occurred there in the past. You will like also venture to a few spots you didn't even know existed as you walk through some narrow streets off the beaten path of the busy restaurants and pubs.
As another reviewer mentioned, the tour has access to several buildings and historical sites that the public cannot access. So if nothing else, you literarily will see parts of the Rocks, you would otherwise not be able to if not for this tour.
Ghost Host James did an amazing job with his story telling (and occasional joke) and keeping the attention/interest of the group. I did the Northside tour and looking forward to doing the Southside tour next time I am in town.
A few things to keep in mind when considering booking. The tour took just a little over two hours and involved a bit of walking and climbing some stairs.
You will go into places where, at times, you will be in complete darkness.
Some of the locations are underground and are small rooms.
While, I think the host did a good job where he had some discretion, most of the stories contain graffiti detail and adult content. There were some younger children on the tour and there didn't seem to be any issues, but something to keep in mind if taking children.
Once again, great all around.
Great experience for what you pay. I really doubt you will get much more value doing anything else for a couple hours in Sydney. read more
