+ Nice size, Everyone behaves themselves - It's old and bathrooms are brutal Went to see Puddle of Mudd here last weekend and I was surprised of the size of the place--not too big. We were able to see the band from about 8 rows back, even with arriving late. Men's room is small and disgusting inside, needs to be gutted. All the folks around me were pretty decent and I love the location of the stage, however the band had no place to rest other than on the stage (no backstage area for them. I would definitely see a band here again.

Last night I went to Etobicoke's version of the G20 holding cell/correctional facility, and had my rights read by the bouncer... -You have the right to remain drunk... at $3.50 for Coronas and $6 for pitchers. -Anything you wear or bring will be frisked upon entry in the club and possibly used against you. -You have the right to free entry as a woman ($5 for men). -You will have to listen to our huge, scary looking security guards as well as generally bad top 40's (think Kingston Penn meets C Lounge) -If you can afford a car, feel free to park it in their massive parking lot, if you are broke apparently free lunch can be provided to you! Once I understood my rights and was taken into "custody" I started to acquaint myself with my surroundings... My cell mates will range from juvenile delinquents to full grown Lakeshore hoodrats. Don't expect anything fancy from the washrooms, this is after all supposed to be prison (so I guess I should congratulate them on the "decor" If all fails (and it does) most inmates spent their time where else? Outside on Rockpile's self proclaimed "best patio in Etobicoke" (which is sort of like telling my hubby he's my favourite husband!). All joking aside the patio is the only reason this place got more than 2 stars. As an interesting twist they also have an outdoor beach volleyball court next to the patio (very intriguing)! I will probably come back to try the food. In the summer time I can see why this place is popular since beer is cheap and the patio is gorgeous but once winter rolls around this bar is going to be a bust!

This is a dive bar... and proudly! The place just oozes rock and roll! That's the purpose of the Rockpile-West. To go there and enjoy loud, awesome music blaring through an amazing audio system manned by a pro. Staff is friendly. The beer is cold. And the food is pretty good to boot!

BlackEve was fun to watch, may come back again! Stagw lighting is pro

Bathrooms were clean, staff was friendly and let me charge my phone. Mini-pitchers of Canadian, Coors Light or Rickard's Red for $10.75 was decent. Shots are $6 and up. Had the hockey game.on but honestly, they could use one more flat screen facing the bar. Stage and sound quality are great!

A few bands/events right here @ The Rockpile West!!!

Happy hour runs daily from 3-6pm and again from 9pm to close, which makes it super convenient. Reservations are easy to make online, and we were seated in the upstairs lounge. The open rooftop gave the space a lively yet relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding at the end of the week. The service stood out : attentive, friendly, and quick without feeling rushed. For happy hour, I tried the Joeys cheeseburger with beer, and it did not disappoint; the burger was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly paired with the drink special. I also sampled the hummus and sushi cone, both great options with fresh flavours. One unique item I couldn't resist (though not on the happy hour menu) was the spring roll stuffed with mashed potato. This is a Joeys signature, and it's a must-try--crispy on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside, and unlike anything you'll find at most chain restaurant. Their main menu also has a variety of options to try as well, will definitely be back!

There are also nightly and weekend happy hours, but we came here after work. - The white sangria is awesome! My former manager reached out to me about a few work-related questions. It was nice hearing from him. It's my usual self to ask if he'd like to go out for a meal. He was game with either the two of us, or past and current writers. I went with the latter, as it would be nice to have a happier meetup than what we did in November when he was let go. I hadn't been to Earls in a long time. I was a fan of this western Canadian chain when I lived in Winnipeg. Back then. it wasn't as upscale as it seems to be these days. The food was yummy and I liked dropping by. I asked him if he was good with this Earls across from CF Sherway Gardens. He was. There were a total of four folks who said yes. Another colleague said that he'd drop by to say hi. I didn't account for him in the reservation, as he'd be there briefly. I reserved online through OpenTable. It was party of four for 4:30 pm. It was great getting the occasional text message to confirm that we were still good to be here on a Wednesday at 4:30 pm. I was the first to make it here. I had no problem finding a parking spot and backed into an available one. I walked into the eatery. I was greeted by a friendly woman. I said that I had a reservation for four under my name. She found me and led me me to a booth. I looked at the happy hour menu. Red and white sangria were available. I went with the latter. It had peaches and oranges in it. It was delightful. We got water with ice. I waited for my friends and colleagues to arrive. Two of my friends had arrived, followed by the hi-and-bye friend. Two of them looked at my white sangria and order the same thing. Our other friend got a Moscow mule. My former manager texted me. He said that he was stuck in traffic on the 401 and he'd be late. I said that we'd be here. He eventually made it. Yay! He saw that most of us had sangria. He ordered the red sangria. Alcohol does hit him fast. Luckily, we were here for a few hours, so it eventually wore off. Even our server asked if he was okay, which was kind. Service was great. Our female server was attentive, making sure that our water was refilled and we were good. The manager came over and was looking for me. He said that to thank me for my "loyalty," he wanted to give us a complimentary Nashville crispy chicken and pickle skewers. I said that I wouldn't say no to free food! This appetizer was excellent. The pickle was a bit spicy. The crispy chicken was tender and not spicy. It was such a nice gesture. Our table got these items: - Baja taco (me) - Szechuan shrimp and pork dumplings (me) - Aburi salmon sushi press - Clam chowder - Bigger better burger with fries - Truffle tortellini I loved my baja taco. The fish was generous and flaky. It had a light, crispy batter. It was delicious. The szechwan shrimp and pork dumplings were excellent. The chili sauce had a ton of flavour. My former manager's aburi salmon sushi press needed more flavour. This place doesn't have wasabi. Instead, I said to dip his sushi in the szechwan sauce. He did and said it was much improved. I got to try a bit of his sushi and I also dipped it in the sauce. Yummy! My friends loved their meals. Everything was off the happy hour menu, except for the truffle tortellini that looked amazing. For dessert, we got these items: - Lemon meringue pie - Sticky toffee chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream Our friend had left, so we were a table of four. We devoured both desserts in five minutes. It was quite the feat to witness! The lemon meringue pie is seasonal. It should be on the menu all the time. It was fantastic. The lemon had the perfect tartness. The meringue was light and perfect. The sticky toffee chocolate pudding was moist and decadent. We loved the vanilla ice cream and the crispy wafer. Since I'm the fruit person, I had all the sliced strawberries. So good! We got separate bills. I paid with a credit card at the table. I tipped and tapped. Done! A few of us used the washroom before we left. The women's was clean and inviting. No complaints! My former manager was waiting outside. He noticed that my car was still there. It felt like old times chatting for a bit before heading our separate ways. The food and drink were excellent at this eatery. The company was perfect. Service was wonderful. I'd return here for more good eats and drinks. (147)

The kale and mushroom pizza that I had just a few months ago, has changed. Now, it's overcome by a thick layer of cheese, while the scant sprinkle of mushrooms and kale had zero flavour, and the usually amazing crust was dry and too hard to eat. The Nashville chicken sandwich was ho-hum at best. Over-fried, not much flavour and no sign of the promised Nashville spice. Sad to see the tofu tacos have left the menu, and hoping Earls can get back to consistently good food. Tip: Order the crispy tofu appetizer as your main. Best plant-based item on the menu. Our whole group (omnivores and herbivores) devoured these!

It definitely makes it easier if you have to wait a few minutes. We came here for Mother's Day lunch, I'm so glad I was able to make a reservation. There was a huge lineup a few minutes after we arrived. I liked that it was lively but not loud, we could still have a normal conversation. I have enjoyed their popular dishes in the past but really wanted something different. So today we tried all new dishes and wow were they amazing! I ordered the oven roasted wild cod. It comes with steamed and crispy rice, snap peas, cauliflower, almonds and a Thai peanut curry sauce. It was a symphony of flavour and texture! I already want to go back and order it again. Hubs ordered the blackened chicken with warm potato salad. This was incredible as well! The potatoes are mini, smashed and then deep fried. I could have eaten an entire plate of them! The service was exceptional, our server Quinn made sure my mother in laws meal was GF. They checked twice and made sure the kitchen knew. So appreciate the attention to this as she is celiac and can get very sick. My daughter ordered the Joey burger and she said it was amazing too. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon blanc, on Quinn's recommendation, and it was absolutely lovely. Great food, great wine, and exceptional service! I will be back soon for the cod. So I was pretty excited to check the place out on a recent Saturday evening. We didn't have a reservation and the place was quite crowded, so it was a surprise that we were seated at a comfy, two-person booth. We wound up sharing a couple of things: the Fiesta Salad ("Mixed greens, arugula, avocado, black beans, corn, grape tomatoes, pickled red onion, salsa verde, crispy corn tortillas, feta cheese, creamy lime dressing") and the Street Chicken Tacos ("Roasted Achiote chicken, shredded cabbage, cheddar cheese, Pico de Gallo, green onion, chipotle aioli, honey lime vinaigrette, cilantro"). Despite some regretfully slow service, the food arrived relatively quickly and was tasty. The tacos, while nothing mind-blowing, hit the spot and were elevated considerably by the available hot sauce. And the salad was well put together and full of quality ingredients. It's actually a bit of a relief to discover that Jack Astor's is almost exactly how I remembered it, complete with the server writing their name on the table in crayon.

Have to admit my first couple trips here were not great... it was a lot rougher place back pre-Covid and it was not uncommon for fights to break out... along with some unsavoury characters hanging out by the pool table. Fast forward to 2024 and it's a much different picture. Still very much a locals bar, but it's become a friendly regular hangout for me when in the area. Food (4/5) - I've had multiple items on the menu and tend to try the daily specials which are usually pretty good. The wings are quite good too... meaty and cooked the way you want them... especially salt and pepper. Service (4.75/5) - I get the sense this has improved significantly over time but the current dynamic duo of Ellena and Yasmin do a great job of managing the bar and floor most nights. Food orders come out quickly and they are always attentive and friendly. Ellena is the sole reason I gave this place a second chance after having a couple bad first experiences. Atmosphere (4/5) - it's your typical locals bar with a central bar, lots of TVs and the requisite pool table. SJ is unique in that they have live bands 3-4 nights a week with no cover most nights. Crowds are muted Monday to Wednesday... and then fills up on Thursdays through Sunday. After coming here a few times I had locals coming up to me saying hi and getting to know you. Not at all like those pre 2020 days. Overall (4.25/5) - I think this place got a bad rap before and probably deservedly. This is a different bar now and I would encourage people to check it out.

Walk in and you're hit with that classic pub smell--wood, beer, and something frying--and it instantly feels comforting. The dark interior, Guinness mirrors, and Celtic knick-knacks give it genuine character without feeling like a theme-park knockoff. The patio out back is a nice bonus when the weather cooperates, and the live music on weekends is usually a talented one-man-band or duo who know how to work the room. Food-wise, it's mostly a home run. The wings are massive and come in a honey-garlic that's legitimately addictive, the fish & chips batter is crisp and greaseless, and the shepherd's pie is proper comfort food--hearty, well-seasoned, and served scorching hot. The Irish nachos (potato slices instead of tortilla chips) are a fun twist and disappear fast. Prices are very fair for the portion sizes; you'll leave full without feeling robbed. Service is friendly 9 times out of 10. The staff are the type who remember your name after two visits and pour a perfect pint, but on busy nights (Friday/Saturday after 9 pm) it can get stretched thin. Small gripes aside, Scruffy's is still one of the best pure pubs in Etobicoke. Great spot for a casual pint, catching the game, or a no-fuss plate of elevated pub grub.
