Today at 10 AM, I delivered a trunk full of good stuff both practical and collectible after decluttering yesterday. I returned at 11:00 with more quality donations from my daughter. At this time, I was very pleased to see that several items that I donated earlier were already marked and sitting in a cart ready to be put on the shelves! That was a fast turn around! The staff at the store work diligently processing donations and assisting customers. The parking lot was full. Lots of "pickers" looking to find collectible items that they can sell at flea markets. Really good finds can be sold on eBay. Glad they support CM so it can provide many great programs including those for homeless individuals, women/children in crises who need housing and support, and those who need nutritious meals. Besides household items, the thrift shop also welcomes people who shop for clothing, handbags, shoes, toys, frames, records, CDs, and books. Everything is well organized. On our way back to our car, my daughter noticed that someone had already bought a few of the items she donated. It made us feel good. We also had bags of coats, mittens, and boots to place in the Red Bins outside of the store.

I was told that the store has to track down potential donors in order to give them the money. Ironically the song "Waymaker" was on. I will say this. You never know the need that someone has and how God may have been trying to meet that need. I am so disappointed and upset with how Christ was represented today. The attendant asked me as I was walking away if I I had a need that she could meet... **Just an update, I was just told in a response message that, "we are sorry you feel this way, tracking down the owner is the right thing to do."-- (message I just received). Hmm.. the attendant told me (via the manager on the phone) before I left out about an hour ago that they tracked down the owner. Maybe the manager and the attendant needed it. I pray that you bless them Lord-- they must have needed it more.

Think of those beautiful pieces that women wore in Mad Men and all the period pieces. That's what she has! They are reasonable too! I ended up buying three while visiting the area and have received endless compliments. I also have a thing for statement jewelry. She has that too! Check out the earrings that I wore for a stage performance. I've posted a photo. :D Thank you Sue!

That said, the Re-Collector has picked up a few gems so if you're a hard core collector, you'll likely spend a little time flipping through the bins. There's some CDs, DVDs, cassettes, and even a shelf of 8-tracks, and then a bunch of completely randomized tschotschkes. While I'm a sucker for this sort of thing usually we haven't found anything interesting on repeated visits. The music and vibe can be interesting or annoying, which goes double for the Re-Collector himself; he seems to be a bit moody. The store's pretty cramped, too, so go in with your claustrophobia under control and I recommend not taking any bags in, either. Worth a buzz-by if you like random odd used stuff stores, but not a can't miss one-of-those-things IMHO.
