Whenever we go on vacation and want a change of scenery from the hotel, we go to The River. It has a Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang's, Yardhouse, Five Guys, Ben n Jerry's and even a movie theater. Aliso if you have a Tesla and need to charge, they have a charging station.

While visiting the area, I stopped by The River in Palm Desert mainly because it was convenient. A solid mix of restaurants, shops, and things to do, all in one easy, walkable spot by the water. Relaxed vibe, good energy, and plenty of options depending on what you're in the mood for. One of those places that just works when you want everything in one place without the hassle.

This is a fun outdoor mall nestled at the base of the mountains in Rancho Mirage. One of its unique features is a small, flowing river that runs through the center, adding a peaceful vibe to the shopping and dining experience. The mall recently welcomed Dave & Buster's, which is a great addition! The main anchor spots are restaurants like P.F. Chang's, The Yard House, Dave & Buster's, Babe's Bar-B-Que, and The Cheesecake Factory. Beyond that, there are plenty of smaller eateries, including ice cream shops, a boba tea spot, a burger joint, sushi, a chocolate shop, a cheesesteak place, and even a Filipino food shop. For entertainment, there's a Cinemark theater and a small amphitheater where live music is played from time to time--great for date nights or family outings. For shopping, you'll find stores like The Body Shop, a sunglass store, and a fun hat shop, among others. It's January, and the weather is perfect for strolling around the mall--cool and comfortable, making it an enjoyable outing for all ages.

The river is an outdoor mall! Its quietly small! It was very hot and literally i was melting! There great selection of stores and chain restaurants such as Yard house, cheese cake factory and etc...Value wise you can find both restaurants and stores in your budget so its reasonable! The service was great...People are very friendly in this location. There is a small river in middle, make it unique in Rancho Mirage...There is also parking outside...

The River in the low desert is an outdoor mall of cuisine, comfort, cinema, caps, clothes, and community. Had the opportunity to stop in for dinner and take in "The River" aspect of this lush long collection of businesses both popular and familiar... and it's quite pretty, especially at night, but definitely, more of a lake or a pond as it doesn't encompass the entire mall... which is one of my big critiques... It does seem to be more food focused with the local Cinemark in the center of it all... The parking on either side is pretty easy to navigate... As are the pathways... Some walk bridges in places especially over parts of the water would be amazing... I'll just daydream about them for now. It was fun to see families and kids enjoying a Friday evening about and in the mini amphitheater near the lake... I mean river. Curious to see how this place will grow and change before my next visit... especially with talks of Dave & Buster's emerging this year... which will give things like Escape Games (the escape room place) some more entertainment company. The PF Chang's is solid! The Yard House is reliable, Dringk for stiff drinks and the Cheesecake Factory is as good as it gets for sit-down spots. Five Guys, Ben & Jerry's, Chakaa, and a few others for those more convenient bites and sips on the go. Q Tip: They host some events throughout the year including a car show every first Saturday of the month. Also if you happen to be around on April 1st (something they might do yearly)... they'll be a giveaway for Stage Coach tickets from 4 PM - 7 PM Free cone day is also coming soon!!

Fun 'River', Shops and Dining The idea of a 'river' at a shopping mall attracted us. It's fun! Bridges, places to sit by the water, and decorative landscape create a perfect setting to enjoy a beverage or ice cream and listen to the soothing sound of flowing water. Plenty of dining options and some shops to share your money with.

The Brad Mercer Band live at The River Amphitheater in Rancho Mirage, CA - 3/18/2023
    George M.

"Coachella Valley's Supergroup of Classic Rock Veterans," The Brad Mercer Band performed the first of two special rock concerts at The River Amphitheater in Rancho Mirage last Saturday night (3/18/23) to a packed crowd of appreciative fans and shoppers, as part of The River's free live music concert calendar. The Brad Mercer Band, in weekly residence at Fantasy Springs Casino Resort's, The Lit Lounge for four years, moved on in 2023, to new venues, large and small, both in and out of the Coachella Valley, to seek new and diversified audiences. The band has an impressive, extensive song archive with a catalogue of classic rock and pop, including exact renditions of rarely performed, sometimes complex classics from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and even new hits from the early 2000's, from artists like: The Eagles, Elton John, The Beatles, Neil Diamond, The Animals, Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, Tom Petty, Peter Frampton, Pat Benetar, Chicago, The Doors, Billy Joel, The Zombies, The Rolling Stones, Badfinger, Doctor John, Pat Benatar, Led Zeppelin, and The Who, to name just a few. In addition, Brad, as a professional impressionist, adds a special touch to the show with his dead-on mimicry of each musical legend. The Brad Mercer Band is: Brad Mercer on vocals, guitar, brass & percussion; Peter Sutter on lead guitar/vocals); Chris "Guido" Carletto on keyboards & vocals); Terry Dubas on drums & vocals); Gene Beavers on bass & vocals); and Susan Lynn Mercer on vocals. Brad's appeared as a guest numerous times on KESQ TV's Eye of the Desert" with host and devoted Brad Mercer fan, Patrick Evans. What makes this very tight band also very special is the level of veteran players assembled here to form one impressive and confident rock band who display a range of musical styles and genres like no other band in the Palm Springs and desert areas. For The River, it was their largest crowd and most energetic to date, with many of the crowd slipping onto the dance area to once again relive great music and rock out. One member of the crowd, in his late 20's, said when he closed his eyes, he swore he was "hearing the original artist live". Brad is a true showman, with a life in rock, pop, and Vegas show biz, having toured the country as an entertainer, stand up comic, and impressionist. Looking like Robert Plant's brother, Brad puts in a Bruce Springsteen-like energy into his live shows and many times goes for three non-stop hours. Each member of the band have their own distinctive voices from an amazing high tenor to a gravel-like blues scowl, and each step forward to perform as front man or woman, in the case of Susan. So Brad, a truly gifted vocalist, is surrounded by a strong vocal ensemble as he is be top notch musicians. What pleased the venue and the crowd, is how Brad plays to the people, often stepping off stage to perform sitting next to them or walking among them, often inviting them to sing along. The band as a whole, seemed generally very appreciative of the love thrown their way, though this writer feels they more than earned it. The Brad Mercer Band delivered a rock show one would normally pay $50-$100 to see. It was a total thumbs-up. I highly recommend this band if you are in the desert. Next up is Wednesday the 22nd at the Tri-Palm Country Club & Resort starting at 5:00. Then back to The River on April 15th at 6:00 PM. The band's website is: TheBradMercerBand.com The band has two current music videos in rotation on MTV Europe. Here are links: https://youtu.be/qx9vIYfpQFs ("I'm Coming Home") https://youtu.be/Y6hmxiBRqps ("Just Wanna Hear My Songs on the Radio") Brad Mercer is also a syndicated country music radio personality who hosts a weekly show, Brad's Bands n' Fans" at KIX Hot Country Radio (96.3 FM). He is represented by Winmill Talent Management.

Came to The River 4 or 5 years ago to the movie theater with my brother, nephews, plus our grandson. I remember being impressed with the center, but didn't spend more time. On our last trip to the desert, our nephew recommended hanging out there. We ended up going to Yard House for dinner, sitting under the misters, soaking up the atmosphere. We were planning to go the next day, but was just too hot! The landscape / waterscape areas are worth a visit alone. One day we'll hang out there when it's in the 80 degree range.

Something similar to the Northridge or even Burbank mall when I first walked in. There's plenty of parking and a covered structure which is a major plus out here in the desert. The summer heat and walking back to your car after it's been sitting out, no bueno. For the two main departments stores, Macys on one end and JC Penny's on the other end. Macys also has a home store which you don't see as often. The other bigger stores, Dicks and Barnes and Nobles. Then inside you have the usual stores, nothing fancy. There's your usual H&M which is decent size, Victoria Secrets, Hollister, American Eagle, Tilly's, Bath and Body Works, Express and a few other retail store you would expect inside a mall. Nothing fancy but the usual. Then there's some small business which seemed like they're family owned. The mall isn't that big, a good length from one end to the other. I walked in on Mother's Day's for the first time which they were hosting afternoon tea right in the middle of the plaza. It was cute and raffles were given with prizes offered from the retail insides. In my opinion, it's a mall. Nothing major or special about it. You would think that if it is the only main mall in town, it should be worth it. But I guess it'll do.

The first thing I saw was how FRESH and HEALTHY everything looked. The ingredients were vibrant and clearly prepared with care. After speaking with the owner, I learned this is a FAMILY OWNED business that recently opened, and I was one of their early customers. That made the experience even more meaningful. For my first visit, I tried the tuna wrap and it was AMAZING. The owner was PASSIONATE about the food and took the time to explain the menu and the value is great. You can tell there is real pride behind what they serve. They also offer WRAPS, FRESH SALADS, AND BURGERS, so there are plenty of options depending on what you want.
