We were recently here for our cousin's wedding. The River Mill is located in the country side area in the city of French Camp. There is plenty of accessible parking available in the parking lot. There is a beautiful garden and many picturesque spots as you walk the path towards the venue. The building has a rustic exterior with leaves and vines hanging on the walls. The venue is spacious and elegant inside. There are multiple rooms that consists of the bar area, main reception hall, and a room where the photo booth and bathroom was at. The main hall was intimate and a lovely setting for a wedding reception. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the River Mill. The staff was friendly and accommodating. As a professional wedding DJ for the last decade, I can confidently say that River Mill in French Camp, CA was one of the worst venues I've ever worked at. I DJ'd a wedding there in May 2026, and while the venue looks beautiful in photos, the actual experience behind the scenes was extremely disappointing. I'll give credit where it's due -- the landscaping and outdoor aesthetic are gorgeous and definitely photograph well. However, once inside the ballroom, I noticed spiderwebs in almost every corner, many with actual spiders still in them. For a venue that markets itself as upscale, the cleanliness and maintenance inside did not match the image they advertise online. The treatment toward vendors was also incredibly unprofessional. I was only allowed ONE hour to fully unload and set up all of my DJ equipment before guests arrived, despite caterers and other staff being allowed ample setup time. On top of that, I was not allowed to temporarily park on-site while unloading gear. I had to park across the street and haul thousands of dollars of equipment back and forth. After the wedding ended, I pulled into the parking lot briefly to load my equipment, and one of the managers told me, "You're lucky my manager isn't here because she would yell about where your car is parked." Completely unnecessary and disrespectful, especially after working a full wedding day there. The staff overall were not welcoming or vendor-friendly, and the policies are extremely rigid. For example, if your event is booked until 10:00 PM, they require everything to end 15 minutes early. So realistically, if you want your wedding to go until 10:00, you need to pay to book until 10:15. As someone who works weddings professionally and values both the couple's experience and the treatment of vendors, I personally would never recommend this venue. If you care about the people working hard to make your special day successful, I strongly encourage you to consider how this venue treats its event staff before booking. read more

I got married at The River Mill 2 weeks ago and I have to say the venue alone is absolutely beautiful however the experience wasn't pleasant. Coordinators here are pretty bad at their job and so is the staff. This place doesn't know anything about professionalism, or how to deliver great costumer service. They are just plain rude. Especially the coordinator and I believe owner Geri. This lady is unfriendly. Not a kind woman. A few of my guest told me after the wedding asking who she was and about how rude she was with them. I don't understand why she's in the wedding business when she doesn't even know how to treat people. Unfortunately I took nasal spray on my big day to help with my stuffy nose and had a bad reaction to it. Was lightheaded, dizzy, rapid heartbeat and throwing up while the coordinators were asking if she is ready or we need to start. Um hello I'm puking seriously?! I understand that we needed to start but zero compassion. After with dealing with that and with that medicine wearing off I managed to enjoy my wedding. But it's not over yet. My husband and I spent $850 on 1 extra hour. Originally it was suppose to end at 9 but we spent that $850 to have it till 10. Last dance was suppose to be announced at 9:45 but the DJ announced it at 9:15? My mom went up to the DJ and said why are you doing the last dance now and he said one of the servers went up to him to stop playing music. They were trying to rush us out. Plus the owner/coordinator Geri and the other coordinator were no where to be found. Turns out they left and left a server lady in charge who was absolutely nasty and had a bad attitude. Her English wasn't very good either. But luckily some of my family were able to speak Spanish. She came up to me and started yelling about where is my flower bouquet. The way how she said it, it was like she was angry. I just looked at her and said I don't know and walked away from her. While the DJ played the last song again at 9:15 I noticed people were getting upset because this lady and all the servers would not let them take the fresh flowers we paid for in the package. They claimed that the flowers were rented. I've never heard of fresh flowers being rented. They never told us that they were rented and when we went over the contract there was nothing stated that they are rented. Again communication here isn't the best. Turns out a family friend of mine told me that his sister got married there and that they had the same issue at his sister's wedding with the flowers too. They should of said something cause we wouldn't have had this blow up with that rude server. One of my family members came up to me and said that she never heard of fresh flowers being rented and then asked that lady why. This lady yelled no flowers you can't take it's in contract. Then some of the servers rushed to the tables to take away the flowers. And yes I'll be honest I did cooped attitude right back at that lady. It was bad to the point my mom had to go up to her and tell her to calm down and to not talk to us so disrespectfully. At that point I didn't care about the flowers I cared about how she was treating us. She was nasty. Mean. We ended up leaving probably around 9:30 to 9:35. So that $850 pretty much was a waste. This was a disappointment because I absolutely fell in love with this place when I did a tour of it but if I knew what I know now I wouldn't get married there.This place you spend a lot of money on just to get treated with the worst customer service ever. During the planning stages, the staff was quick to respond, extremely attentive, and provided exceptional service the entire time taking what felt like thousands of pounds of stress off our shoulders. Attended a wedding at this venue. The place itself is beautiful. Lots of different areas where a wedding could be held. Aim for late afternoon or evening because it's VERY hot in the sun. We were fortunate enough to be seated under some trees. Navigating the grounds is a little complicated. And when you leave in the dark there are very few lights on the paths and we wandered for awhile trying to get to the parking lot. I have tried contacting the river mill various times. Every time I finally get someone to answer it's a rude lady who is not helpful and always has a tone in her voice and terrible customer service. My wife and I just had our wedding here on August 9, 2014. When we first found The River Mill my wife had met with Jeri by herself because of my work conflicts, she immediately fell in love with the place. After getting the contract in the mail I saw how professional and clear everything was and even took a drive out to see the place myself. Although I couldn't go in, just looking at the outside of the venue I knew my wife had picked the place of her dreams. Throughout the year of planning with Jeri we had a lot of contact via email only, which was easier for me anyway. Since this was my first time getting married my wife and I had no idea what we were doing. I bombarded Jeri with emails left and right with questions after questions...never once was she rude or upset to answer any emails I sent. This alone was helpful. When we finally got closer to the date we met with Jeri for the first time, and she made it simple and easy on explaining how everything would work the day of our wedding reception. Since I had never been there she showed us a tour of the place as well. When we left the meeting our worried thoughts were gone, we knew it would be perfect. The day of the reception everyone was professional, clean, and helpful. The gardens were beautiful and the inside was set up perfectly. The food was delicious, we had chicken and even added an entree of pasta in case our guests were hungry, everyone loved the food. Everywhere you looked you could see staff attending tables and moving efficiently. The fact that I'm a control freak was hard to put so much trust into others, but, The River Mill exceeded my expectations. Reading the yelp reviews we were a little hesitant once we reserved our date, but, after everything was said and done I can say this. You get what you pay for!!! Jeri was nothing but helpful to us, and even on the day of we saw her helping the staff wait tables and serve food. I especially appreciated that she was there to make sure everything went without a problem. People complain about the upgrades, but they're just that, upgrades. You don't need them, but if you're like us you want the best. We upgraded chairs, flowers, enough to throw the wedding over the top. My reception was in Nov 2020 and i waited till i get my photos to write a review. 2020 was a hard year for every body and i was so lucky to get my wedding done in this year. In fact, i had to rearrange my wedding date several times. I am so blessed that Jeri and other staffs here were very flexible to help me. Without Jeri help, i could not make my wedding dream come true. :) Pros: I super love the rose garden as you can see when you enter the building. The Secret garden has several nice corners for photos, especially the fountain. ;) Plus point, the flowers they provided are super fresh. They can provide all types of flowers and customize as your desired style. For me, the food is ok enough, not super excellent, with big potion and fresh taste. However, many of my guests gave compliments about the steak. So, may be it is depend on your taste to judge. ;) Cons: The reception rooms and the entrance hall with long table are quite dark. The environment deserves an isolated review. High ceilings, gorgeous brick walls, the decor is elegant. Comfortable temperature, not too loud where you can t interact with your group. Lighting is modest as well. The aesthetics earn a 5 out of 5. Eating experience: It was buffet style pomodoro pasta, green salad, bread and cheesecake. Good if you are not health conscience and eat a bunch of carbs. Didn't have alternative meals for those who don't eat carbs. Meal was pleasant. But the seating was uncomfortable. Four averages the 5 star location the 4 star food and the 3 star attendance to service. A few comments. The gorgeous grounds in the daylight become somewhat treacherous for older visitors after dark. Poor pathway lighting and exit signage made leaving somewhat akin to visiting the corn maze across the San Joaquin river. That said, exquisite facilities and a very nice wedding meal made my cousin's wedding a memorable experience. Service was spotty with wine servers everywhere, but a slow roll out of the meal and even slower clearing of tables after dinner. Tweaks here and there would earn that 5th star. read more

I could not imagine having my daughter's dream wedding anywhere else! This is more than a wedding venue, the owner and wedding coordinator Jerry have so much pride in what they do and create. They go above and beyond! The garden area is breath taking and the indoor ball rooms are gorgeous. Jerry has been doing her job for over 20 years and all her attention to detail really brought everything together so beautifully and made this day go so smooth. The bride and groom didn't want a wedding cake but instead a cookie cake (see photo) and Jerry said we can ask the baker... and sure enough they came through. We walked away feeling like we have a new addition to our family, working with Jerry this past year has been a WONDERFUL experience. She knows what she is doing for sure. The rest of the staff that do the behind the scene stuff to help, also did an amazing job! There was specific lady that helped me when I needed a runner to help with pictures and she just stepped up asked me how she could help and she helped me so much, I feel bad because I don't remember her name but I remember her friendly smile and the great help she was to me. During the reception, so many of our guest complimented how gorgeous this place is. Pictures don't even capture all the beauty it holds. I highly recommend making an appointment and walking through to see all the variety options you have. When I share my experience with The River Mill to family and friends I find it extremely important to let them know that this is not just a business to the owner and his long term staff. They have created a stunning, breath taking, fairytale like creation for in-love couples to get married at. And they all take so much pride in what they have. It means something special to them! I had my wedding (ceremony & reception) on Saturday, May 18th. As the bride, I strongly recommend this venue to everyone. Yes, I will admit, they are picky with the insurance but that's about it. My husband & I had a blast. All my guest enjoyed the food, cake & alcoholic beverages. The portions on the food are not small. Everyone was super full when they left my wedding. It's weird how other reviews say that they take your plate and drinks, but that didn't happen to me. Joana & Jeri is super nice. They were super helpful and great. One of my guest wants to have their daughter's quincenera there - that's how much she liked the venue. I had my wedding here in November and boy do I have a lot to say... First off, everything leading up to the big day was fine. I had high hopes thinking it was going to work out perfect. I was wrong. Day before the wedding when we had the rehearsal. I called letting them know that everyone was there and we were ready to come in. Took them FOREVER to open the gates for us, then we come inside and Jeri was absolutely no help. My husband and his aunt (who was our officiant) ended up running the whole rehearsal because this lady was just standing around acting like she didn't know what she was doing. We also ended up changing our ceremony location last minute to indoors because of the weather. We asked to have candles added to the fireplace so that the area wouldn't be so bland looking and it was an extra $200 charge. Total fine by us, we expected the extra charge. We were told we would be sent an invoice for the $200 and left it at that. Next day, we got to the venue, I called saying I was there with all of my girls. They didn't let me in until about 15 minutes after I called which was pushing it because my husband was on his way too and would've arrived before I got into the building if I didn't text him. Then, my aunt brought flower crowns for my flower girls and small junior boutonnières. We didn't want to spend more money on just baby's breath boutonnières and it's a family tradition to have my aunt and grandma make some of the flowers for the wedding. The venue was not having it. Jeri went around yelling at all of my family saying "you can't bring outside flowers". We'll guess what Jeri, we did! And nobody seemed to care about this issue after the first hour or so. I just don't understand why she went around yelling at our family for it when she could've just came up to us and handled it professionally.. Moving forward, after the bridal party and family was let in the gates were to be closed and guests weren't supposed to be let in until 3pm. At 2:30 I was downstairs taking pictures with my grandmother and about 10 people just walked in and interrupted our pictures. Keep in mind that we were limited on our time and we had a large wedding party so this little inconvenience costed us a lot of time. Of course as soon as this was brought up the gates were closed but it was too late, we already had people inside sitting and waiting. Moving forward to after the ceremony, we were in line ready to do our grand entrance for the reception and here comes Jeri, "you guys didn't pay the $200 for the candles". My husband looked at her said "now is not the time" she stormed away and we left it at that. Why are you coming in the middle of my wedding to collect money when we're obviously in the middle of something? Flash forward to dinner, the guys had flasks on them (bad I know.. no outside alcohol!) one of the guys had left their flask on the dinner table and this was apparently an invite for Jeri to go around and pat all of the groomsmen's jackets down. Now from my understanding, once you get caught your deposit is gone. The one flask was our one strike, but what made you feel the need to go around and search all of their jackets like that? Moving forward again, my bouquet toss... everyone had a schedule; the venue, the DJ, the photographer. So why is it that the dj and photographer were ready for the bouquet toss but my toss bouquet was nowhere to be found? My mom had to go searching for Jeri and when she finally found her she realized what was going on and ran to get my bouquet. I had to sit up in front of everyone and stall. It was so awkward!! Later on one of my bridesmaids got locked in the bridal suite at one point though because Jeri "didn't see her" even though she was halfway down the stairs when Jeri locked her in. Before we left we got stopped again for the $200 candles which was fine. Settled our debt and left. Joana ( I think is her name, she's the younger one) was great. I loved her. She understood our family and approached us about things respectfully. I would've rather worked with her than Jeri. That was my overall experience. Jeri is not very pleasant to work with but Joana is and the venue is gorgeous. If I could do it all over though I would've definitely chose someplace else to save myself the extra stress and drama caused mainly by Jeri.. read more

The place is gorgeous without a doubt, but a lot of what made this day so great was the staff. The staff is so friendly and helpful, they surpassed my expectations. Jerri was our coordinator and she did so great; she was so organized and definitely made me feel way less stressed. Joana was so very helpful the day of the wedding. Her and a server helped bustle my dress and Joanna was so attentive, she even took my veil off for me when it was time to dance. We went to a ceremony here last weekend. We were about 30 minutes early since we were coming from some distance away, so we decided to walk around the grounds. Holy cow...this place is stunningly beautiful! A Koi Pond, a large water feature, tons of manicured lawns, rose buhses and shrubbery make for a spectacular venue. The ceremony went off without so much as a single hitch. Then came the food. Apps were very good. For the entree there were Crab Cakes and Chicken. Chicken was very flavorful, but the Crab Cakes were over the top delicious; the best I've EVER had. The bread was fresh as was the fruit. Really, one of the best buffet dinners I've had anywhere in California. Next was the dessert. Words can't begin to describe how good it was. I confess, I am a choc-o-holic and this thing was everything I love, all in one. A very gooey chocolate covered cake with chocolate chunks and raspberries, smothered in vanilla ice cream. The lady sitting to my left didn't eat hers and unfortunately having eaten so much chicken and crab, I couldn't begin to finish hers. I've been to venues that excel in one or two areas when it comes to special events but this place was top notch in every possible category. We attended a Sunday afternoon wedding at the River Mill this past weekend. The River Mill is an absolutely gorgeous location. The gardens, the ceremony site outdoors, the wonderful brick mill are all perfection. Most of the staff was very good and did their jobs well. There was one woman who seemed to be coordinating the ceremony who was very abrasive and actually tried to start the wedding before some very important guests of the groom had arrived. My husband was in the wedding party and witnessed this woman bullying the groom to start the ceremony without waiting for the guest. The groomsmen had to step in and refuse to start until everyone had arrived. From a guest point of view the ceremony and reception went well. There were no major hiccups noticed by guests. A minor complaint would be the outdoor ceremony site faces into the setting sun which was very uncomfortable. All the guests were holding up their programs to shield their faces from the glare. I think the direction guests are facing should be more thought out or there needs to be some discussion when planning the time of day for the ceremony. Appetizers, dinner and drinks were all pretty good. Your standard wedding fare of fruit and cheese apps, salad and bread served and then main course buffet. We went to a cousin's wedding here last weekend. Here's the review breakdown: Venue: 2 1/2 stars. Inside -- Never mind this place is in freakin' BFE tucked in behind farms and a Chinese cemetery (yes, there are Chinese people in French Camp!) . if you've got 110 people or less, then seating inside for the reception is fine, but any more than that and it feels really cramped. Plus, there's no designated dance floor; people just dance in the empty spot that they dont set up tables at. Hence, fewer guests will give you more of a "legit" dance floor. Outside-- Ceremony was outside in the gardens, which is great if you don't have allergies and the weather isn't humid. It was probably only around the low 80 temps, but at 6:00 pm, it felt like I was in a Louisiana swamp at times. Ceremony was held on the lawn ... no pathway to get to our seats or for the aisle .. just trample through the grass and aerate the lawn with your heels. There are candles tucked into the trees and flowers for evening events, but it was still really dark outside. Maybe they light up more of them if it's actually dark for your event, but when we left at 10:30, it wasn't very well lit. And they had the sprinklers on! Hello?!? Patio/Bar area -- Again, kinda small, but there's another area adjacent to it (besides the dining/reception area) that guests can spill into. Look out for the unexplainable and scary cat-shaped ATM machine. I wish the bar area had an awning or something to block the glare from the sun. It got HOT in there. And there was a rat trap out in full view on the patio, eek. Food: 4 stars for the chicken (not sure which one it was, but holy tomato that stuff was good!!!) 2 stars for the beef (i think it had a mushroom wine sauce .. tasted vaguely like a TV dinner but more moist). Appetizers we had were the shrimp cocktail (whatever, it's shrimp cocktail), stuffed mushrooms (decent) and pizza (verrrry tasty!). Restrooms (because the ladies always want to know!): 3 stars -- there's only a few stalls, and there weren't any a$$-gaskets! Service: 4 stars -- It looked like they were pretty organized, at least at the ceremony portion. The coordinator (presumably) was running around with a walkie-talking and everything. Things got a little slow at the reception, but maybe the bride wanted it that way. It seemed to take an awful long time for the food to start coming out, but once it did, it was okay. Another long break before the cake cutting/first dance crap happened and it took more than a bit for the cake to get served. Price: 5 stars -- Just looking at their website, I'd say this place is a BARGAIN, especially considering they will do it all for you (for a price of course): cake, flowers, coordinator, guestbook attendant, parking attendants, etc. A lot of this stuff is actually included in their base rate, too. There's a lot of menu options and it looks fairly customizable. Conclusion: This place isn't my style to have a wedding at, but it'll certainly get the job done and get you out of there without breaking the bank. read more
