My husband and I just saw Sublime at The Ritz. He'd been there a few times but it was my first time seeing a show there. I absolutely loved my experience there! I had to pick up our tickets at will call before the gates opened and all of the staff members I interacted with were incredibly friendly. While I was waiting in line a guy checked my ID and put a wrist band on me and told me about the venue since I told him I'd never been before. Then the girl at the window was really nice. The security at the door was even friendly. Everyone seemed happy to be working there and it really made for a great experience. Once you get inside there are eight bars and quite a few bathrooms. The bathroom I visited was clean and well stocked. There's a VIP area upstairs that you can pay extra for so you have a place to sit down with table service and snacks. We opted not to do that today. I ordered a margarita at the bar and it was delicious! I asked the bartender if she would top it off with orange juice and she said that's how she makes them anyway. Perfect!! The show was amazing. The sound and lights in this place did not disappoint! The place was so spacious that even though it was crowded I didn't feel crammed in. We could not have asked for a better experience and we will definitely be back! read more

Wow, when did the Ritz become an awesome venue? I've been hearing the rumors that the Ritz had a makeover, but I didn't realize just how much of a change could happen in a year. I went to my first show here (Chvrches) last year in April 2014. A year later seeing Interpol this past weekend and I felt like I was in a different venue. When we saw Chvrches the venue was crowded, HOT, hot HOT!, a poor selection of overly priced beer (I'm talking Bud and Tecate people) and terrible sound. We were standing in the balcony during the performance and were very unlikely to rush back to this venue. A year later and the Ritz is definitely making a new name for themselves. Not only have they fixed the AC problems, but they've put in a spiffy lounge upstairs, "box" seats and a VIP section, a much better beer selection for the same price as the crappy beers before and an AWESOME sound and lighting system. Now, I could see some complaints towards the additional $35-$50+ to sit directly in front of the stage in the balcony, but hey, get there early enough and you might be able to snag a spot off to the side. The Ritz has just risen to the level of Cat's Cradle but with much more room. I hope past musician that have performed here give it another chance, as well as patrons that have seen a band here before the renovations. Plus, the parking isn't bad and it's walking distance (about 15 minutes brisk walk) to Big Boss Brewery ($4 Uber!). I'm taking The Ritz out of the dog house! read more

Do yourselves a favor and don't fall for their hoodwink VIP Access. What is the point of purchasing so-called VIP Access that doesn't include a seat?? They charge u just to get access to still stand upstairs. By far the most asanine setup I've ever seen. If you want a seat, you have to pay on top of the money you already paid for the "VIP" access. And then you can only buy the seat at the door. They claim you get access to top-shelf liquor and a lounge that you can sit in. My goodness, where are all you haters coming from to give this place 3 stars? This reminds me so much of Starland Ballroom in NJ. First of all, I parked 3 blocks away and there was no one around. Try that anywhere in the greater NYC area and you're towed. Second of all, there was no line to get in a half hour before the concert. Again, not getting that even at Starland. Once inside, it's nice and painted dark, stage is center focus, a few bars around the area. There is even a second floor with seating for people who can't stand the whole time, or you could sit at the bar I suppose and see from there. My friends appreciate having a slightly quieter place farther from the speakers, and I appreciate being able to get fifth row (or closer!) with relative ease for fun photos and a great listening/watching experience. Mosh pit ran well, security did just fine the whole time in every aspect, yeah beer and food are hella expensive but that's, again, exactly like Starland. I would love to come to the Ritz more often, but this ain't my area! So yeah... park a little bit away and walk, eat and drink before you get there, if money's a concern, but the experience itself is absolutely awesome. read more

The Ritz provides a really intimate concert experience and is also a great value since the general admission ticket prices are pretty reasonable when compared to other venues in the area. Been here twice already this year. The first time I came to see El Gran Combo, a Puerto Rican salsa orchestra, and more recently I saw Walk Off The Earth, a Canadian indie pop band from Burlington, Ontario, known for their music videos of covers and originals. Staff and crowds were easy-going and accommodating which stages a very friendly atmosphere and overall cool vibe. I felt that the Ritz's acoustics worked really well with the performers' sound equipment resulting in crystal clear audio both vocally and instrumentally throughout. I didn't leave with any annoying reverberations in my ears as I have at other venues. The Ritz is the perfect venue for showcasing independent artists and performers. They offer several bar stations, restrooms and VIP balcony seating (higher ticket prices) which I have yet to try since I prefer being closer to the stage. Entry access was a breeze on both occasions. They have ample paid parking space adjacent to the venue, so getting in/out is pain-free. I look forward to coming to the Ritz for my next concert event. read more

The stage is weirdly low. If you are more than 3 rows of people back, you are out of luck. I left the show early because I couldn't see anything, and the crowd was annoying to boot. Outside, one of the security guards huddled talking in a group asked me if I was leaving for good and I said yes. As I was walking away I heard one guard say to the other, "what IS that?" And the other guard responded, "pretty sure that's a she". I'm a woman with short hair and was wearing my winter coat because it was cold, but apparently that was enough for security to question my humanity and call me a "that". I paid a stupid amount of money for a show I couldn't even see, and then was humiliated by security for apparently not being feminine enough for them. This was one of my top shows I was excited about seeing in the last year, and it was completely ruined by the venue. There is no show they could ever book that will make me come back here. read more

This is the worst venue hands down to see any show. They change the information last minute frequently on the websites and on social media and then act like you're insane (even when you have a screen shot to prove it). They sell tickets and then offer free tickets last minute to fill the venue but don't give any priority to people who paid for tickets making the place overcrowded with limited to zero security. It's completely filthy. They have signs they are fixing the place but it's been the same disarray for years. If you buy VIP upstairs tickets (it's a joke) they will make you buy additional ads ons for an actual seat. They false advertise so much. There are so other great venues around the Raleigh area. They stop selling vip lounge add-on online, so they can sell at the door & up the price. $80 bistro table/chair seating or rail (movie theater chair) perimeter seating for $100. Table/chair seating is behind the perimeter seating. So for $40 ticket price + $80 vip lounge upgrade, I got to see the back of people's backs..... BECAUSE "THEY CAN'T MAKE PEOPLE SIT DOWN". So essentially, is you don't want to do the std. Standing Room Only ticket and you want seating. Upgrade to the $100 lounge seats, because the $80 isn't unobstructed! read more

If you want to see the band badly enough, this venue is acceptable. Downstairs, you'll have to stand the entire time. VIP upstairs is substantially more(50-75$ a ticket)is not clear- one VIP pass and you can use the bar up there or stand, but there's not a bathroom upstairs. Seats upstairs are at least $50 more. Worth it, if you can afford it but if the lights on stage are blazing like they had for Theory of a Deadman 3/2022 - you won't even be able to look. People that work there really don't ever seem to care if you have an issue either. read more

Parking: $7 for parking right across the street. There's a TON of parking, so you can arrive at whatever time you want. If you're lucky, there's about 15 spots directly in front of the venue that are free, but those fill up pretty quickly. Entering Venue: The line was pretty long, but went by really quickly. Seems like they have this process mastered. I am glad I did not pay the additional $10 per ticket to skip the line. It might depend on the band though, so it could be different on other nights. This concert venue is fine. I attended for Hunter Hayes and Maggie Rose in Summer 2017, and again this past weekend for On the Border (an Eagles cover band). Parking is $7, which is annoying since it's in a kind of empty area- why can't concert venues ever have free parking? On the plus side they do take cards for parking. For the cover band I saw this weekend I'd gotten free tickets from an email. I was also told they were having a food drive, and even if you didn't have a ticket you could bring canned goods and get in for free. On the way to the door we were handed 4 free tickets to another cover band in a few weeks- nice, but kind of amusing! Security was insane. I don't mind, i'm sure they had their reasons, but I felt like a criminal. They looked in my purse and even my glasses case. They patted me down more than I've ever been patted down at the airport. They rudely interrogated as to why I was bringing a bag of canned goods- I was shocked that (a) no one else had told security about the food drive, and (b) clearly no one else had brought any but me! I was made to feel ridiculous and like I'd done something wrong as I waited to the side while they looked into this alleged food drive. We thoroughly enjoyed the bands. They were talented and came on right on time, etc. However, the venue was jam packed. I have never felt so much like a sardine. Even when I went to see Hunter Hayes and Maggie Rose the place wasn't that crowded! I can only assume that the venue occasionally does free shows like this to make a mint off drinks and parking. We ended up moving over near the door because we felt so claustrophobic in the middle of the room. Next time I might consider paying extra to go up to the balcony "VIP" area where you can breath without your nose in some stranger's armpit. All in all, pretty standard for a music venue, in my experience. And at least getting in and out of the parking lot is easy (especially compared to someplace like PNC or Walnut Creek). read more

This place was very pretty but ran poorly. I had a drunk group of men rubbing against me and my group and twerked on us(+ the underage teen we had) as well as knocking our hats off all night, almost head butted me by throwing his head backwards and pushing us out of the way to get our area even though we had waited an hour early for the spots. They yelled slurs at the opening band and yelled about the music artists genitals. Didn't help the lot of them smelled like complete body odor. A woman alerted security of their behavior and all they did was told them to stop once and let it continue. They pretty much told us the show was almost over and let them do whatever they wanted. When I pushed back the man cussed me out and they mocked the girl who tried to get security and recorded her cussing her out. Then blew vape smoke directly in our faces. THEY NEVER HELPED, no matter what the group did and even though everyone around us were uncomfortable with the behavior. I won't be coming back here as they over-serve alcohol and let the guests run rampant. On top of that the bathroom was full of people smoking weed and throwing up. Sad a guest helped me more than any of the guards. read more

Medium - big sized concert venue in the middle of an industrial parkway. The stage is huge, they have a VIP area along the balcony. Several bars along the perimeter and the bathrooms are large enough the waits are not too bad. One complaint was the vocal audio was not great and could not understand the lyrics or segway conversations (Modest Mouse). We we're standing right next to the mixing booth, so unless it was isolated, theyay need to do some work with that. I'm going to Lamb of God in a couple weeks so maybe it will be better. read more

The ticket fees have always been excessive, then add $14 to park, $8 for a 12oz can of PBR (mind you a 12-pack of PBR is $10), $4 for a can of soda, add a tip and you've dropped $30 before the band plays a note. read more

I visited this location with one other person to see Alter Bridge. These are my thoughts and observations. - Parking was $8 and well organized. - The security line moves quickly. They will not let you in without an ID. - The establishment was clean and there's multiple bars to visit. - We bought standing room tickets, but there is a VIP section. - Alter Bridge brought in a huge crowd, but it didn't feel claustrophobic. I think this has something to do with the high ceilings giving the illusion of space. - Bring earplugs. - Towards the end of the show, some buttheads started vaping in the front row and their smoke was getting trapped in the venue. It was so bad you could barely see the stage. Maintenance tried blowing all the smoke out. Overall, the only issue I had with this venue wasn't their fault. I felt safe and I enjoyed seeing Alter Bridge at The Ritz. I look forward to seeing other shows here. read more

[3.8/5] I've been to several music venues across the state, with my first experience with The Ritz being this past Sunday to see Tennis opening for Spoon (yes these are real bands lol), and I have to say I didn't really have too many issues. The venue was clean, the staff I encountered was nice, and the sound quality was ok, though I've heard much better. Looking at other reviewers, my experience wasn't too bad likely because: - I didn't buy a drink (I heard that prices were ridiculous so I didn't bother). - I took a Lyft to the venue so I didn't have to worry about parking/traffic getting out. - I looked online ahead of time to see what was allowed and not allowed inside, brought nothing but necessities, emptied my pockets, and was through security within seconds. - I also bought a fast lane pass online, so I got to enter the GA floor early, so snagged a good spot and didn't have to deal with racing people to the front or worry about someone annoying or tall standing in front of me. There is a GA upstairs balcony that wraps around the inside of the venue, which I imagine is ideal for those who can't stand for long periods of time without leaning on something, and/or, want to see a show but not have to stand swarmed in the huge crowd/worry about a blocked view. There's also seats upstairs/VIP upgrades and a VIP lounge, but they cost extra (between $35 to $50+) on top of your ticket. I personally wanted to be up close and didn't mind standing, so to me, the first floor using the fast lane was worth the few extra bucks considering general admission is always first come, first serve, and the fast lane allows you to go first in front of everyone into the venue. If you don't opt for a pass or don't get one before they sell out, you likely can still get a good spot by just showing up really early. Seats and VIP upgrades (from what I've gathered), are sold only at the venue during the day of a show, so get there early and ask about them if you want them. The inside of The Ritz appeared pretty clean when I entered. Several bars and bathrooms along the back sides, and I could see there were some upstairs, too. Kind of dim lighting but with pops of color and neon by the bars. There's also a checkerboard floor pattern covering much of GA pit. It looks much cooler in person. I landed a spot nearly dead center, right up front against the grate that separates the crowd from the stage (perfect considering I'm only 5'6, and in these kind of venues there's always people 6+ feet who stand up front for some reason. I get they want to enjoy shows up close too, but come on). I go to shows a lot, and have found GA ones/venues can either bring out the best in people, or the worst. Since this is a GA only venue, I can see how some people either have great times here, or horrid ones. Crowds vary, and the type of artist/music playing can influence your experience, too. Usually the people who stand dead up front are nice and frequent shows as well, so I had a nice experience with the people on both sides of me. Behind me however, was a little bit different, but that's not the fault of the venue. With almost any general admission show, there's almost always going to be rude people in the crowd who try to come up front when they didn't "earn" their spot. They didn't get there early enough, yet they push past and get right on top of those of us against the gate, or right on top of those who actually put in the effort to be close to the artist(s), they're trying to see. Pro tip: you snooze, you lose. Unless a friend is saving your spot, have a little courtesy and just stand where there's a spot available. Don't push people and cut in front, that's such a d*ck move. Anyway, when the show started, right away the lighting was very intense. I enjoyed it, but even my phones camera struggled to adjust when I wanted a snapshot or two. I don't know if this was the artists choice or if the venue wants epileptics gone for good lmao I liked that during the show, there wasn't security guards lining the stage, staring at the crowd. That gets awkward and is unnecessary 95% of the time, so I was glad for that. The sound quality was surprisingly a little fuzzy in parts, and occasionally during Tennis' set, a mic was giving feedback. The instrumentals were clear, but the lead singers voice occasionally sounded distant even though she was right on top of me. It needed to be amplified/on par with the other mics/amps. She had/has a powerful voice, but the sound was more diluted than it should have been. I left the show a few minutes early because I wanted to order a Lyft and get out before the post-show traffic let loose. The staff I encountered was friendly, let me know there was no re-entry, and wished me a good night. I would opt to see a show here again but would likely take the same steps I took this time around. If I return I'll maybe update on aspects I didn't encounter this time (bathrooms, upstairs, etc.). read more

Everything is just right from the size of the venue as it is not too big to the layout of the place that allows you to be close to the stage or a little bit farther away in a more relaxed part. This is an indoor standing room only venue, unless you pay extra to stand in balcony where they have a few tables and chairs. Came to see Marshall Tucker band. The sound system was decent and as it was a cool night, even with fans it was filled with body heat. I imagine come summer it would be pretty uncomfortable. Plenty of bars but expect to pay $9 for cheap beer. They were giving away tickets for several tribute band shows so that was pretty cool. Come early and park for free nearby as they charge to park in their lot. I would go again if a decent band appeared, but much prefer outdoor venues. My personal preference. read more

It's a fine venue, now that they renovated it, but I still proceed with caution when deciding to go to a show here. I need to really, really like the band. That's because since live nation took it over, prices soared for everything, a third of my ticket price was added on as extra in fees. Drinks are costly- like outrageous. $14 for a well double, $9 for a big beer. Finally they added a $5 12 oz pbr.... They also add this fast lane things which is dumb and nickel and down you for everything. So - much improved from last time I went before live nation took over but now that they did, proves through the roof. I reserve this place for something I really, really want to see. If you drive, don't park at venue. Park anywhere else around to avoid gridlock in leaving and $12 fee. I could see a parking fee downtown but charging that fee in midtown in a shopping mall area is just fleecing people. read more

Also....apparently kali uchis main audience is a decade younger than me, because there was zero lines for beer. Can't say that's actually a complaint though. The venue overall was up to par with other cities and the sound quality was on point. It was a really great concert, much better than expected. You don't usually give a concert venue 5 stars for customer service, but I'm doing exactly that. Went to a Tove Lo concert, and about an hour in got very sore (recovering from shoulder surgery). Some of the staff noticed I was hurting and asked what was up. I told them I was fine, just sore, they asked if an ice pack would help and a minute later brought me one. The name is horribly misleading.... as it's anything but ritzy. There's no decoration or theme to this place, it's simply a large warehouse building they turned into a venue. There's one balcony that circles the upstairs, but good luck seeing anything up there unless you're against the railing. The floor has no slope so you can't see from the back unless you're 6'5". Very poor design. To boot, they serve 12oz CANS of Bud Light for $5, and they DO NOT TAKE CARDS. It's 2013 yall, get with it!! The bathrooms were pretty disgusting, and there were waaaay too many people in this building... I'm sure the Fire Marshall would have had a fit. The staff weren't so nice either, not sure why because they weren't doing anything! I saw Tenacious D here two weeks ago, and man, what a show! Love love love The D, Jack Black is a god himself. The Ritz has some wonderful shows coming up, and if it weren't for their bill, I'd never go back.... but unfortunately they bring some great acts to Raleigh, so I'm certain I'll end up here again. read more

I'm really happy to update my review of The Ritz. This is actually an ok music venue now! The transformation over the past year has been very good. Don't hesitate to buy a ticket if you're thinking about a show. I'm happy to report the weird wooden dance floor is gone (RIP), and it's no longer a sauna inside. I will always fondly remember walking out with a drenched shirt into the cold winter air after the January 2011 Girl Talk show here. A lot of the bigger tours will swing by The Ritz. It's the next biggest venue in Raleigh after Lincoln Theater. Unfortunately, you probably need to drive to the venue because it's just north of downtown in an industrial area. I think they charge to park now, so I'd recommend taking an Uber if you can. It's only about $5 from downtown. Inside, there are full bars in every corner, and you can even get some food at them (like pizza?!). The sound quality is the only thing that's still off - they really need to make some improvements there. Sadly, The Ritz is in a flood zone which will occasionally cause shows to be cancelled. I'm not really sure what they can do about that. If it's storming out, make sure to check your email to see if your show's still on. read more

I just saw Bastille here about 3 hours ago. I LOVED them, they were great. The venue is just like all the other reviews on this site, it is HOT and moderately unorganized which is quite irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Today in Raleigh, it was about 90 degrees, so I can't actually fault the venue, it seems as if they were doing everything possible to combat the extreme heat and humidity. The Ritz is completely indoor and to suit the venue, there is no real ventilation (no windows, doors only to let people in and out). But what can I expect, it was humid and gross today. Drinks are concert-priced, I bought a bottle of water for $3, your regular Deer Park water. You can't really bring anything into the venue so everything is a must-purchase-there kinda thing. It's a concert venue they need to make money somehow. The place was PACKED. I was on the second floor balcony so I could see the regular standing area and people looked like sardines, that really could not have been good for the whole humidity/heat/grossness of today. It was a sold-out show, but man! there were a lot of people for that tiny bottom floor. It's also worth noting that EMS was on sight, they plan on people fainting from heat :/ I got there a little before 7pm (doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm). Maybe it was specifically the Bastille concert goers but my goodness was there a long line [to get in right as the doors opened]. PARK AT COSTCO (on Wake Forest/Six Forks). It will save you the headache of waiting for all the people to clear the area before you can leave the lot of the Ritz (after the concert). The walk from Costco is less than five minutes. If you get there early, GO TO THE BALCONY, try to find an un-obstructed view of the stage. If not, have a great time standing behind some really tall trees of people. The sound is not great, but you're seeing your artist of choice, chances are you know at least some of the songs, enjoy it, have a seriously overpriced beer! I will go back, it's got good parking (COSTCO) and the venue isn't that horrible so, the overall rating is 2 stars. (Meh. I've experienced better.) read more

I flew into Raleigh to see Manchester Orchestra play here right after Thanksgiving. I booked a hotel close to the venue and walked over to the Ritz. I had a VIP ticket so entering the venue was a breeze. The VIP area is in the balcony. There is a roped off section on each of the railings with bar stools. You get a bar stool and a little ledge area to put drinks, phones, and other stuff you need to put down. There is also a lounge area with a less crowded bar. You are assigned a concierge host for the evening in case you happen to need anything. That was definitely the best part of the evening. The host texted you before the show and said to just send a text if you need anything. The venue holds close to about 2,000 people so it is not so big that you get claustrophobic from all the people around you. My seat was on a side balcony so I had a good close view of the stage. The sound was a bit wonky with the show opener, but they quickly fixed it. Overall, this is a great place to see a show in Raleigh. They seemed to have a lot of great bands passing through. read more

Came here with a coworker of mine to see the Fetty Wap show. We came around 7:50ish (show started at 8PM) and the parking wasn't too bad. I paid the $5 parking fee and was directed to an open slot. Can't complain too much about the parking fee since PNC arena charges at least that amount when I went to see Hurricanes play. In the line, we both got our wristbands so we can buy some alcohol and then pass through security. Security check was pretty standard. I took everything out of my pockets and a lady scanned me with a hand metal detector. Once inside, the place was already getting packed. We both got our drinks at the bar. I bought the first round: An orange juice and vodka and a double Makers on ice for $25. The prices are definitely more expensive but that's music venues in general. After the show was over, here comes the not so good experience. Getting out of the parking lot definitely took a while. There is room for improvement for those directing traffic out of the lot. But you can probably beat the rush by leaving early and if they didn't box your car in. read more

I think they have recently renovated. I have never been here before Umphreey's McGee concert. It was a rather quick entry. We printed our tickets online and got right in. They do now charge for a membership. $1 and I got a $1 off my first drink. It still is a large warehouse building with the balcony upstairs. They have several bars upstairs and down. Upstairs bars has couches and seating but you wont be able to see the show from there. They also offer a coat check. They accept cards! Drinks are expensive but I have found that every venue I go to is. It was hot in there but not unbearable. They did have fans running. Seeing can be rather difficult unless your tall, get up front at first, or on the sides of the stage. I never waited long for the bathroom which was awesome! It was a great concert and I would defiantly go back. read more

Just saw an excellent show on a Monday night. This was my first time to the venue and I was really impressed. Huge standing room area, and a wide stage makes sure no one has a bad view. Could hear all music clearly some side banter from the band was a little harder to hear, but I believe that was more about them stepping away from their stand up mics. Second floor balcony with bar stools for VIP pricing, was offered that upgrade in several emails and as I bought tickets. Parking $7 but lots of free street parking available if you're willing to walk just a bit. It's worth noting that there is no re-entry if you have to leave or want to suck out, but there did appear to be a smoking patio. Only downer for me was bar prices. This isn't some big arena where I would expect to pay $10 for PBR, but alas I pointed up anyway and had a great time. read more

I was THOROUGHLY surprised by this venue! I went to go see Adventure Club, and I was somewhat shocked to discover that they were able to get a pretty big time DJ to come to Raleigh. I really liked the venue itself. The dance floor was huge, the stage was nice, and the bar was on point. The lights were also decent as well. People were also pretty respectful and not pushy, like a few other concert venues I've been to. I really liked the setup of the bar. The cash registers are on the bar, so people literally line up in front of the registers instead of playing the endless game of trying to flag down a bartender. It's small for a concert hall, but I really liked how intimate it made the whole experience. I was shocked at how I got to be so close to a famous DJ duo in my hometown for only $30, and I even bought my tickets the day of! The one thing I didn't like was the huge pole jutting up from the middle of the floor. I actually plan on coming back in a few months to see another DJ as well. Great experience! read more

Last night, party people came out in their 80s or 90s best, dressed and Ready to Party with DJ Biz Markie at The RITZ Raleigh! Parking , security and staff at Will Call were organized and friendly. The event started at 7:30 and I arrived about 9 so entry was a smooth process. From the moment I walked into the venue, I knew it was going to be a fun night! The Ritz staff did a great job decorating according to the theme: from Rubics Cubes, to movie posters from the era, a Moonman a la MTV , even Aquanet Hair Spray in the ladies Room! DJ Biz Markie's kept the party rocking with two full sets throughout the night. While the cocktails are made well be prepared to spend 10 dollars or more for beer, wine, mixed drinks.
