The meal was basic vegetable soup that is one of those soups you could get at your nans, warming and hits the spot. Mains was chicken supreme, sage and onion stuffing with ham, 2 veg, roast potatoand mash potatoes with a beefy, salty, silky smooth jus; heaven. We were on a day trip from our club. we had visited the Japanese Gardens and Waterford Crystal and stopped at the hotel for dinner before heading home to Dublin. The meal was amazing and great value for money. I had a two course meal, homemade veg soup and pork fillet with cream sauce/ cram mash potato and veg. It was beautiful, the staff were brilliant too. very attentive nothing was too much for them. they looked after us so well. The cost of the two course meal was €22.95. would without a doubt be returning again in the future. would also recommend to family and friends

The owner, Julie, was as nice as a person can be (she even called someone to find me and pick me up when I left my passport in the room!) We found the property on Airbnb…read more It's a 300 year old thatched roof cottage. 2 bedrooms (a master with a queen bed and another room with twin beds) one bath, a family room, and a kitchen. It just looks and feels what you think of when you think Irish Cottage. The cool thing is you can stay there for 2 nights and you don't have to rent the whole week...although you definitely should. And will kick yourself like I am for not spending more time there. In 20 minutes you can walk the parimeter of the whole town. The bonus is there is access to Kells Priory a mere 5 minutes walk from the house. It is sooooo cool to go around there and look at the ruins. There are two abandoned mills to look at too. There is a cool pub that makes pizza, called Shirley's. Kells is close to the medieval town of Kilkenny. You could drive to Wicklow, Waterford, Wexford, whatever from there. Closeby is Stoneyford which has a cheese shop and good take away Indian food. The owners of the property are right next door and are suuuper cool.

Our room was comfortable and clean and made sleeping very easy. We enjoyed the breakfast served to our group the following morning. We also took advantage of the gym and pool. It was very relaxing in the pub where we heard traditional Irish music. Particularly loved the view of the river. My family's recent stay at the Waterford Manor Hotel was an excellent introduction to Irish…read morehospitality. We were only there for one night and one breakfast, but it made such an impression. The building and grounds were gorgeous, and the family (including dogs) were warm and courteous. The rooms are large (especially the master suite) and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are vintage but comfortable (though the towels could be fluffier). We didn't have time to explore the entire hotel and grounds due to time constraints, but the portions I saw were all well maintained. The best part though were the human and canine hosts. The lady of the house served our breakfast and gave recommendations on things to do before making our way to Dublin later that evening. The master of the house introduced us to the dogs and displayed just the right amount of his gift of gab. If we didn't hold up our end of the conversation, I hope he understands it was jet lag, not American manners. The dogs, Bubbles (small black) and Ben (yellow lab), were a bonus for our group of animal lovers. They were friendly greeters but were also content to relax or play together under the shade in the grass. The scene of the two of them on a sunny, breezy day in mid-June was the definition of relaxation. I thought of them again during our trip at times of travel stress (flat tire, cancelled flights, etc.). It was nice to think that regardless of the momentary chaos, there was a place a few hours away where two dogs enjoy idyllic country life with no such stress. Luck of the Irish dogs, I guess.
