OK, I'll start by saying that the meal here is good value at £3.50…read more But now it's downhill all the way .. It's a buffet meal, and as it's so cheap, the place is busy, and you'd be well advised to arrive early, or you run the risk of eating stewed vegetables, and meat that has dried under the lamps. Select two meats from four on offer; they're carved and served to your plate. Then help yourself to the vegetables and the plastic gravy. Eat. During eating, do plenty of talking, as it will take your mind off the lack of taste in the food. Do not order a dessert. Do not have a pint. Do not have a coffee. In comparison with the cost of the main course, they are expensive. Instead, pop into nearby Hatfield, and get those things in The Bay Horse. Actually, you should have eaten there, too. I was too disappointed to notice properly, but I think this establishment is one of the Brewers Fayre chain. Ah. Maybe it wasn't good value after all.

Outstanding value for money, the £3.50 carvery is also one of the best carveries I've ever visited…read more It's a really nicely decorated pub, totally geared up for food rather than drinking, and people travel for miles for a feed. Unlike many pubs that sell cheap food and charge a fortune for drinks, this place is actually very reasonable for both. It's quite easy to get 2 meals and 2 drinks for under a tenner, and there are often drinks promos (soft and alcoholic). For those who don't eat meat, they offer several veggie dishes in place of the carvery, and still allow you to fill your plate with the carvery veg/pots/yorkies. They have a simple starter and dessert menu which again is very reasonably priced. Plenty of parking, easy access off the M180 J1 (from the west - from the east you have to go to the end M18 roundabout and turn around), fast friendly service and fabulous food. Can't ask for more really!
