No matter what your level, your age, or your what fitness level is, you are made welcome. From professional fighters, amateur white collar boxers, kids, and mums getting fit, Impakt has something for you. Great personal trainers and excellent classes. Multiple disciplines are taught: BJJ, Muay Thai, Karate, MMA, Krav, Boxing, gymnastics, and Strength & Fitness.

That's Impakt. Impakt runs a number of different boxing and martial arts classes, including Muay Thai kickboxing, Western boxing, Brazilian jujitsu, as well as a number of other fitness classes like boot camp and core strength training. The problem with these sort of boxing gyms, is that they can suffer from a reputation of having a lot of meat-headed lads who are into fighting, and could perhaps rather intimidating for those of us who are beginners, looking for fitness and not fighting, and women. Fortunately, Impakt, despite the front page photo on the website which is only guys with their shirts off, is not like this. The students training are very diverse, they have no pretensions about trying to beat other students down, and surprisingly many of them are women. The trainers are very skilled, and push hard, but are also sympathetic to those of us who are maybe less fit, or need a helping hand to learn some of the techniques. Special mention must be made of Phet and Nadir, who are both excellent trainers, and friendly and welcoming to beginners. The gym itself has a boxing ring in the centre, a, larger training area where most of the classes take place to the right, and a smaller gym area with weights and machines to the left. The changing facilities are unfortunately a little small and cramp, so you may wish to train and then go home to get changed. The weights room areas don't have a great deal of machines, but there are never that many people, so you should get to go on them without queuing. With a very convenient central location, and friendly students and staff, it is a great place to start some boxing training in a un-intimidating environment. So give it a go you may find that fighting is good fun.

The last half consists of more intense kicks as well as pushing. Real fights girl. The trainer is very patient and detail-oriented to new comers like us. the advanced ones also push the atmoesphere more atheletic. Very cozy gym with great people. Wing Chun should be studied where it began... in China (Hongkong). Wing Chun is a system of kung fu designed for inner health and realistic self-defence. At the pinnacle of Wing Chun stands amplified mindfulness and effortless power also known as 'Nim Lik' or 'Mind Force'; this is the true essence of Wing Chun. Effortless power convinced me and I sent an email to the Mindful Wing Chun centre in my neighbourhood and the reply was so prompt and friendly that I went there the very next day. I got to meet the dedicated and kind teachers and felt it was the right place for my further exploration of martial arts. Chris taught me a fantastic introductory class. The next day I went there for a meditation and two more classes. The teachers have all studied Wing Chun for many years and are very patient and professional, so were the other students. Wing Chun is a wonderful art/sports. I can only recommend emailing them and trying a complimentary class. I will now try to find strength through balance and relaxation. Three month membership and can attend any class. Mindful Wing Chun's schedule offers a large variety of classes, also meditation which is the foundation of any martial or yogic art.

It also helps balance the body and mind by cultivating mindfulness and deep relaxation. Leading to a pain-free, stress-free life.
