We have noticed that the party tray pizza's are extremely thin and do not hold the toppings. Also less veal on the veal parm pizza.

Everyone working there was very helpful and friendly and the lobby is quite inviting. We were in town for the Mudcat Marathon so we were early to bed and early to rise and never noticed a sound coming from anywhere. (and hotel was reasonable occupied; we saw them at breakfast) It was also Mother's Day weekend and my family had flowers delivered ot the hotel as a surprise for me. They were waiting in my room upon check-in, filling the suite with beauty and wonderful fragrance. I truly appreciate the hotel staff assisting my husband that way... it was very special to me!

Check in was easy and quick and we were given our keys quickly. The front desk was polite and helpful and agreed to start the breakfast service early since there were many of us who needed to be at the race site early in the morning. The room was mediocre at best. The walls were peeling in places and the floors didn't look overly clean. The beds were comfortable enough but the TV didn't work well (the sound was all distorted). The room had a fridge and microwave - both of which worked well. One of our biggest issues with the room was the lack of outlets. We had to move furniture and unplug lamps or the TV to plug in our phones. It was nice of them to start breakfast early, but it was a bit limited in options. There was nothing hot but lots of bread options. There were oatmeal packages and cereal too. There were hard boiled eggs, but they were neither hot nor cold, so I was a bit worried to risk eating them. I likely wouldn't go back if I could avoid it.

It was not until check-in when I was told of a fee being added to my reservation for the three night stay. That fee added $120 to my stay. I was not too concerned at first because I thought, as with other major hotel chains where I've stayed that it was security deposit that would be refunded upon my departure and a check of the room for any damages. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. It is frustrating because for the three days we stayed, we did not ask for the room to be cleaned and only requested fresh towels and tissue paper. Until people saw my hound, they had no idea he was even in the room, because he is quiet and well-mannered, better than most children. There should be two bath towels for each person that can occupy a room because the towels are so small it takes at least two to adequately dry off since the exhaust fan barely functions. Additionally, the stained and grungy bath towels and wash cloths should be relegated to cleaning supplies or tossed out. I was very thankful I brought a few of my own when I took out one of the wash cloths to clean my face and it looked like it had already been used by a mechanic to wipe their face. If bleach can't remove the stain - it's time to go! The breakfast area is not supervised and some "long-term" residence helped themselves to much of the food leaving little choice for those like myself. Often there were no boiled eggs left, no milk, and only a few slices of bread. Someone should be monitoring the breakfast area to be sure the "honesty" system is not abused and that all the guests have access to a complete breakfast variety. There are no baggage carts at this location to facilitate the transport of suitcases and other items to one's room. Luckily, we were able to park fairly close to our room and use the sliding door to bring in our items. Still, it was quite a task for two senior citizens. The grassy walkway between the hotel and the car dealership has a number of concrete hazards that appear to be the remnants of an old fence. They are not easy to see in the dark and can cause one to trip and fall. Additionally, at the rear of the hotel is an area of grass with a picnic table that is poorly lit and not well kept. The dumpster are also located in this area - not so inviting - and the fencing is dilapidated and falling down. It could be a nice area for a picnic or walking one's dog if it was better kept. It appears that there is a general lack of pride among the staff and the owner of this Travelodge. I can assure you that I will think long and hard before ever booking another stay at a Travelodge or any other Wyndham establishment based on this experience.

During Canada Day, Fort George has a BBQ (hamburgers and hotdogs), live music, canon performance and fireworks. This location is ideal if you want some freedom to rest / go elsewhere throughout the day. Only a 6 min walk or so from Fort George. Room: A bit dated but if you are just staying one night it's fine. I wasn't in the room much. However, traditional rooms face parking lot so I recommend asking for 3rd floor. It is a bit dark but more privacy on a higher floor. Also I think room could have been cleaner, there was a lot of dust collected by the windows. Service: Staff at hotel are quite nice and during Canada Day, they served sangria in the lobby and had some cute Canada Day sparklers, stickers, a small candy bar, etc. They also text you asking if you need anything and rate your experience with them. Amenities: On the Basement level, open 7:00am-10:30pm there is an indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and gym available. By the elevators they also provided a tea/coffee bar. I went right at 7am and no one was there, nice and quiet so you have it to yourself. Another service they have is a shuttle. You can request it to take you to fort york, into the town, and other areas but it's close to a lot of places so we never ended up using this service. Overall, not a bad stay and I wouldn't mind coming back if this location was near some activities I wanted to check out like Canada Day. If just coming for a regular stay/ anniversary/ celebration - I would lean towards like deluxe rooms and above. For instance, deluxe rooms face the marina with lots of sun but only has king beds.
