This bar/liquor store lived up to the great reviews I had heard. I finally made my way there on a Friday night. There were several tables for outdoor seating and a large square bar inside the location with stools around the bar. The rest of the location was rows and shelves of liquor for sale. You can buy whatever you want off the shelf and drink it right then and there. There is also a cooler with cold beer and bottles of wine. The drink menu is very good with wines by the glass or bottle and specialty drinks. The prices are very fair. The store part has a very good selections of liquor, wine, beer, and champagne. They even have rare stuff you wouldn't normally find. This prices are slightly marked up but not too bad. The crowd is mixed between college kids to senior citizens. Update: after returning the brew after this review, I was told to "get the f* out" by the bartender in question. I was also contacted by multiple people from the business with threatening messages telling me to take my review down. Todd, the owner, has gone out of his way to prove to me that he will harass anyone that leaves a negative review. Stay AWAY. The Brew was my favorite bar in town. They had an unbeatable selection, unparalleled staff, and it was generally the best place to get an overpriced drink in Louisiana. But Kevin is the worst bartender I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. He frequently allows his personal drama to interfere with his work ethic, providing subpar service with a massive attitude. At one point, after I requested one more drink before closing out, he snapped at me and literally said "f*** you" to me. I was told by multiple people that this isn't the first time Kevin has snapped at a customer, but as a regular I was shocked and astounded. There are many places to drink in Hammond, if the guy in the goatee is tending the bar -- Run, don't walk, to any other place. Did I mention it's really loud? read more

This place is unique. You walk in and it's wall to wall alcohol. It's like a bar in the middle of a convenience store. It has a very distinct smell of disinfectant and something else but it's actually grown on me. Lol It's a good place to chill with a glass of wine if you're waiting for another table in the area. My friends and I usually come here while we wait for Tacos and Beer on Tuesdays. It's easiest to order a glass at a time, but if you just buy the entire bottle to share, you can cool it quickly in their cooler and save some money. They have multiple event nights that I've never participated in, but they are quite crowded during these. I do kind of wish they were open later on weekdays. Is it so hard to do your job? I guess I got the beer I wanted, but I'd rather give my business to a chain grocery store if this is the service I get at a "local" shop. We love, love, love this place! We live about a half hour away, but we frequently go to Hammond to eat on Friday evenings and we always make sure to stop by here. The staff is both friendly and knowledge, and the owner, Todd is a character, though I haven't seen him the last few times we've been. Can get a bit noisy, and seating at the bar can sometimes be hard to come by, but that's to be expected given the small space. My husband is a craft beer enthusiast, and he's always pleased with their wide selection of singles you can buy by the bottle. Great wine selection, too, and you can even buy a bottle and have them open it for you at the bar. I ordered a Mai Tai on this last visit and it was delicious. read more

If you're selling $9 beers, a little price labeling would be nice. But nope, you just have to cross your fingers when you get to the register, which may not be manned because the staff is busy taking shots with customers. On my second visit, I was charged $26 for a 1L bottle of New Amsterdam vodka, which normally costs $16. Again, I had to wait a good minute for staff.
