I've been fortunate to dine here *many* times, and a five star scale doesn't do this incomparable…read moreexperience justice. It is an experience more than a meal, running approximately 6-7 hours in duration, between farm tours, Oyster Hour, a pre-dinner collective toast, supper itself followed by a post-meal fireside treat. The staff are universally friendly and passionate about their jobs and food/drink. Between mingling with staff and other guests and the family style service and seating, you *will* come away with new friends. A comfortable, casual fine dining evening that is truly unique at a time when little else seems to be. The food is peerless, but it's the setting and the experience that makes this a can't miss. It is pricey by any standard, but delivers value if memorable is what you seek. Drinks as you wander both enhance the experience and add to the bill. :-)

Great experience. Started at 3pm with drinks at a rustic barn bar and a talk from the head farmer…read moreabout how the whole operation works. Then multiple outdoor stations with chefs on live wood-fired setups, each one making a different small plate. You graze your way through it. Moved inside for the main dinner at communal tables. The lobster course alone justified the drive to the eastern end of PEI. The chowder in a cast iron pan was pure Maritime soul. Dessert looked like fine art. Four people, $2,700 all in. Steep and worth it. Service was warm and unpretentious throughout.

Hubby and I stopped in after a nice walk around town. Very cozy coffee shop with a nice selection…read moreof beverages and food. The chai latte was really good (made from scratch chai tea leaves vs pre-made mix), and served in a lovely large ceramic mug that gave me the "stay awhile" vibe. Hubby had a black coffee and a REALLY yummy breakfast sandwich (the toasted bread really made the sandwich), and the ingredients inside were fresh and flavorful. Nice mix of locals working inside and folks stopping by for a quick bite. Loved the interior. Really nice worker greeted us as soon as we came in and explained the seating/service options. We'd go back!

We sat outside, enjoying the summer air and watching the downtown hum along. The food here leans simple but thoughtful. The Island Hot Cake was fluffy and satisfying, and the Fry Up breakfast (with bacon) hit all the right notes--especially the potatoes. Maybe it's just PEI magic, but even as a side, they stand out. Our lattes and matcha latte were smooth and well-crafted, and the pacing felt unhurried in the best way. Service was friendly without being overbearing, and it's the kind of place where you can linger with your coffee without feeling rushed. If you're in Charlottetown and want a reliably good breakfast with a quality cup of coffee, Receiver is worth the stop--especially if you can grab a patio seat.
