Audra and her team at Red Barn Inn are awesome! We were visiting the area for the week and needed a spot for our lab puppy to get some socialization and exercise. Audra fit us in for doggy daycare without issue and Maui LOVED his time hanging with the gang! He came home wiped out and happy every day. Where to begin? We picked up our pup, Gia, in March. A rescue from Alabama. She is a pitbull mix and as many of us know, they often get a bad reputation. We knew we wanted to socialize her as soon as possible. When I started researching daycares for her, Red Barn Inn was at the top of the list. Based on reviews I read and the location, it seemed the best fit. When I dropped Gia off for the first time, I was like a brand new mom all over again. Constantly checking my phone to see if there were any phone calls or texts, worried about her and being distracted from my job. She was our only dog and hadn't been around any since we picked her up and I wasn't sure how she'd do. When we got to the location, she seemed reluctant but walked inside, eagerly sniffing and trying to figure out what was happening. Mind you, she's already been through so much, who knows what is going on in her mind. I knew it would be good for her but was very worried about how she'd interact with the other dogs. It brought a smile to my face when I saw her photo posted on the RBI FB page. We opted to do a half day just to see how she did. When I picked her up, I was told she did a great job and got more engaged with the other dogs the longer she was there. After a positive experience, when we returned the 2nd time - she about ripped my arm off running to the entrance. She was so excited! When we got inside- she was jumping all over just begging to be let out to play with her friends. Now, whenever we say "Let's go see your friends" she is VERY excited. Since her first day - it has been at least 6 months, possibly longer--who pays attention to days during the pandemic (haha) - RBI has been amazing for our Gia. She has stayed overnight more than once and is well-cared for and we have not witnessed any concerns. After spending the day with her friends, she comes home exhausted - perfect that she gets her energy out and I can focus on my work day without worry. The bonus is all the great photos of the pups on the website so I can see a glimpse of her day even though I am not with her. I recommend RBI to anyone looking for daycare or boarding for their animal. Staff are wonderful, thanks for all you guys do! read more

24 Hours here ended up costing almost $500 in Vet Fees...Red Barn in had a severe Kennel Cough case and failed to alert any of its customers. Instead they knowingly sent sick dogs home (I know this because they admitted it to my vet while I was next to the phone) UPDATE: OWNER (Chuck) HAS SEEN THIS AND THREATENED ME. He even mentioned that he refuses to apologize or take accountability because I wrote this honest review. He hung up on me twice and told me to get an attorney. When called out on things the owner says, he denies them and his temper starts to heat up! Imagine how he must treat animals!!! Told me because I called it cement and not gravel I had no clue what I was talking about. Headed to the vet today to get treatment for both my dogs. Vet (and Yelp reviews) has confirmed this is not the first time Owner claimed he has pictures where ground is wet 24/7 but Facebook photos clearly tell a different story. Funny how MORE THAN ONCE THIS PLACE HAS PAW BURN ISSUES. Horrible Experience. Dogs both came home smelling like actual poop and all 4 paws on both were burnt. Ownership said they'd never had this happen, yet multiple reviews here reference burnt paws. Something else happened for sure as well as my dogs are hiding around the house shivering in fear when loud sounds such as the TV go on. 2 aussies don't even want to go on a walk and are limping around.. Hottest day of the year and they got lazy with the cement. All the grass in the world and you put dogs on burning not cement. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY Their reply was "you signed the waiver. Do not bring your cat/ kitten to this place. Very incompetent and irresponsible ! I brought my two and a half month kitten to Red Barn because I needed a place to board her since I was on family vacation near by. When we arrived, we specifically told the person who took her in ( who was also the owner of the compound) that because she was a kitten, she only needs very little food per day ( 1/3 cup ). He assured us he was going to do so and we left feeling reassured. When we returned three days, we noticed that she has gained a significant amount of weight. We saw that the bowl in the cage was filled up completely. That the instructions outside of her cage says "fill bowl" up. That they had been filling her bowl up with 3-4 cups of food per day. And that they just been free feeding her this whole time ( which is really bad for the health of a kitten and also gets the kitten to mess up their eating habits) We also noticed that the litter box was full of feces and urine, which is just very disappointing for anyone who loves their pets. Our kitten was showing really bad signs of loneliness and inactivity. Which means that throughout the whole tine, no one spent any time to even play with her a little bit. She lacked social tone, which has made our reintroducing of ourselves so much harder cause our two month old kitten shows signs of depression. I think what pisses me most about this place is their lack of responsibility, competence and care for the animals they take care of here. And that we are deeply disappointed by the fact that the result of that is the suffering of our pet. We are pretty pissed about the experience and our pet has been affected deeply by it physically and mentally. Needless to say we will not be returning and we warn any cat owners to stay away from this place. read more

Our dog has stayed here twice and we are very happy. The staff is nice and always give a detailed report of how our dog did during her stay. I noticed another reviewer mentioned that her dog gets kennel cough... that's a failure of the owner to vaccinate the dog. This is also one of the few places that is open on holidays such as Memorial Day. It's good for people who are staying in the area for a short time and need to pick up their pets on days where other services are closed. read more

My husband and I are very upset with this kennel. We dropped our dog off this past weekend for boarding, and he ended up with severe burns on his paws. It was a Wednesday to Monday stay, and there was no mention of my dog being hurt. As soon as we picked him up, you could tell he was limping and favoring his back legs. I had my dog here towards the end of May for 3 days. In that time, there was apparently an outbreak of kennel cough that no one boarding their dogs was informed of. Ever since boarding, my dog has had a persistent cough that only has gotten worse. We called a vet who mentioned that they get "quite a few kennel cough cases from the red barn inn." Unless you want a sick dog, I wouldn't board them here. In addition, the number of reviews that mention dogs getting severe burns on their paws is very alarming. This place is clearly highly unprofessional and seems to be generally indifferent towards the welfare of animals. read more

We stay in the area every year. Last year, our dog had a bad experience with our local kennel, so we decided to find one closer to where we vacation. I was glad to see this place open and we booked it for a week in early August. I knew I had found the right place when we dropped off Sugar for her stay. Everyone I met picking up their dogs could not say enough good things about the kennel. Another good sign was that my dog went right in with the owner when we dropped her off. The place looked brand spankin' new and it was very clean and devoid of the typical kennel smell (those of you with dogs will understand that statement. Unless your dog is a behavioral problem, they run free in a gated are and they hand out in a very clean inside area (Free Range Doggies). I also like that it is very close to an exit off of 95, so getting back home was easier than heading back down route 1. I would wholeheartedly recommend this kennel! read more

I've been a customer for the last year or so at this business. The last time my Berner stayed there, the owner had informed me that she was bitten on the inside of her ear in the open play area by a large 'puppy' and was now 'healing' after putting ointment on it. When I got my dog home, the 2-inch gash was still quite open and raw. Additionally, my dog had bite marks on her back and hindquarters from what I can only believe to be the same aggressive puppy. Those healed as well, but I won't be taking any of my three dogs back to Red Barn again, any time soon. read more

We recently took our first vacation since acquiring our new puppy Bentley. We were nervous about having to leave him. The folks at Red Barn Inn, were so helpful in addressing any questions or concerns I had. We did a couple trial runs of daycare before heading off on a weeks vacation. During our trip I was able to check in with the folks at Red Barn in via phone and Facebook. They even posted pics of our pups playing. The Red Barn Inn workers really go the extra mile. Service is tremendous and the pricing is very reasonable. I can't say enough about this great establishment. It's great to have confidence in a place to look after our dogs when we are away. To the person who said their dog gets kennel cough there...if your dog had the required kennel cough vaccination that wouldn't happen. It is with regret that I am forced to write this review of the Red Barn Inn. Our family was going on a trip flying out-of-state and we decided to hold our faith in the Red Barn Inn to take care of our three dogs -- "We strive to create a pleasurable experience for each unique guest, so they go home happy and well adjusted." Sounds great, right? Less than 36 hours into our trip we receive a call telling us our oldest dog has taken a turn for the worse, is not doing well and must be picked up asap. We were frantic because the state of the dog being dropped off was normal - he is a very old dog and does have some physical difficulties but nothing drastic. We immediately called the airline to see when the first flight back would be (about 18 hours). About an hour after the news we decided to call the Inn to see if there were any improvements; we also wanted to suggest bringing one of our other dogs in the same room to see if he got any better thinking maybe he was having anxiety about being alone in a foreign place. Or possibly seeing if we could provide a veterinarian... no answer. A voicemail was left to explain we have a flight back home and a few suggestions were made. A good amount of time later we still were waiting to hear from the Inn - every family member worriedly attempted to call throughout the day and we never received a response from the Inn. We would have loved to know how our pup was doing or if there were any attempts at helping him, but no one, ever, answered. The flight home was very early in the morning but by the time we got home the Inn was open - right away the gentleman told us the dog was perfectly fine! Well that would have been nice to know maybe before we cancelled our vacation and it sure would have saved us all from hours of worry. We paid the Inn for the days they took care of our dogs, but they honestly do not deserve a single penny. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone who needs a fury family member taken care of for a few days.. read more

Can't say enough about The Red Barn Inn! I have brought my dog there a few times now. 2 daycare days and most recently a week of boarding. We loved seeing all the pictures! I originally was going to come on here to share some positive feedback but after reading some of the recent reviews, I feel I should say I completely disagree. The first couple days of daycare were, in fact, at the end of May. When first walking in I was greeted by 2 employees and asked if my pet has been displaying any signs of kennel cough. I was immediately informed that they had had a few confirmed cases and asked if I still wanted to drop my dog off. I was even handed a kennel cough fact sheet of signs and symptoms to take home with me. In my opinion, having kennel cough cases pop up is inevitable at a daycare/boarding facility. It is no different than a child coming home from school with a cold. I feel the Red Barn Inn staff made every effort to inform me of the potential exposure. My dog is fully vaccinated and was perfectly fine after coming home. I will definitely be bringing my dog back to The Red Barn Inn!! read more

My son took his cat Molly in to have it groomed and its nails cut,I took mine ,Bella, to have her groomed and did NOT want her nails cut. The groomer hadn't got there yet and we told the two people that were there what we wanted done. Shortly after we left the groomer,Laura , called and talked to my son. He told her Molly gets groomed and nails cut, Bella gets groomed and nails NOT cut.--Bella's name is marked on her carrier.When we got to the Red Barn to pick the cats up Bella was still on the table and Laura quickly picked her up and put her in her carrier..Got home and Bella's underside was dripping wet, she spent the rest of the day under the bed and later that night I found out that her nails had been cut way back.---and Molly's nails weren't cut.Bella wouldn't eat or drink for several days-- all she wanted to do was sleep. I ended up taking her to the Vet, she was dehydrated and needed fluids, they did many tests and found nothing, a few days after that we were back to the Vet. Bella is fine now and will not be going back to the Red Barn. read more

Sick dog, incorrect bill, lack of organization. Our dog stayed overnight recently on a Saturday. When we picked him up, he was not acting like himself at all. He stopped eating, was vomiting, had awful diarrhea, and wasn't drinking water. We took him to the vet where he was given an IV, two injections, and antibiotics. I called Red Barn Inn to see if they noticed any off behavior when he was there, but they didn't return my call. I was also hoping to let them know so that they could warn others. A week later, I found out that one of my co-workers dogs came down with the same thing after going to Red Barn for day care. I am really disappointed in their lack of responsibility about this ordeal. They seem to lack organization (they called me when we were away because they didn't know when we were picking our dogs up and charged me the wrong amount and had to fix it).
