Really, if I could, they would get negative stars. I have subscribed for years, and had problem after problem. I got tired of calling, and you would think that they would get tired of handling complaints. You name it...wet paper, no paper, paper in the street, paper on top of our cars. I became so sick of it, I went to Sunday delivery only, with online access. I had to call last Sunday to get a redelivery, and today I called around 7:30, because you guessed it, no paper. The gentleman seemed concerned, logged my complaint, but did tell me that due to technical issues, I would not see a paper until 11 today. 11:30, no paper, and they are now closed. I cannot even get my paper re-delivered today. Their level of customer service is terrible. Among some of the worst I have ever seen. They should be ashamed, but they probably are not. read more

Worst home delivery ever. They will miss days every week, they try to charge you twice for the same month subscription. I received an offer in the mail for 26 weeks of weekend papers for $40. I mailed a check for $40 along with the offer which was cashed by my bank on May 18th. On Saturday I received a bill requesting payment of $52. I called the customer service number 800-606-9742 and was told to disregard the bill that I was paid through Sep 10th. I said that doesn't seem like 26 weeks but he said it was. After I hung up I counted the weeks on the calendar and found that 26 weeks should be through Nov 6th. I called back but the line was busy so I used the call back prompt to enter my phone number but no one called back. I called today to advise that I wasn't being credited for 26 weeks. The rep asked if I had "proof" of the offer. I said I would look to see if I kept any part of the mailer but if I couldn't find it I would be calling back to cancel. I called back to advise that I was not being given the terms of the offer and I wanted my money back. The rep said all she could refund is $30.00. What a ripoff and what a way to run a paper. Send a special offer but only credit standard rates. Makes me sick. read more

Subscribe to the weekend service. I miss one or two papers per weekend despite my many calls to the automated system to register complaints. The few times I've actually gotten to speak to a live person they apologize but that's it. My previous delivery person was great, but he has a new route. read more

If I can give this place no stars I would. My grandma had been a subscriber for decades and the person delivering her paper had been throwing it on the sidewalk she's 82 years old and it's hard for her to walk down the stairs she called them about it and was rude about it. Then my sister called customer service and this girl name Chris was rude and starting laughing and when my sister asked to talk to the manager she said she didn't have one. I don't think it's that hard to throw the paper on the porch and do your job right. read more

i am so disapointed with the service it rediculous. cant get them to bring the paper to the garage door so my elderly mother who is 95 can get it. I called customer service every day for three weeks and was promised that it would be resolved. Nothing ever happened. Customer service is in New York and the messages never make it to Stockton. I am so disgusted with this newspaper who I have been a loyal fan of for 40 years. They really suck. I'm about to cancel my service even though my mom loves it because in order to get her paper I have to drive a quarter-mile out to the road and pick it up at the end of the driveway because the carrier is too lazy to drive it up like they used to. And the district manager apparently condones this behavior. The carrier even vandalized my record box which I had on the road because I stuck a sign on it asking to please have it delivered to the garage door because my mom was handicapped. They stuck a big middle finger out at me and literally vandalized the box outside and stuck the paper out there. I don't have enough words to condemn this service and the managers that are supporting their carriers acting like this. I hope this message gets to the general manager of the paper and that they understand that they're losing their best customers. My mother does not go online. She loves to read her newspaper and it makes me so sad. read more

I cancelled my subscription for the following reason: I renew and prepay for what they advertise/claim is 52 weeks of service. But then they send a renewal stating that my subscription expires at about 44 weeks- that's 2 months short!! When I called that there is a mistake, they say the subscription is shortened based on a higher cost for "special' issues. I could not tell you to save my life which issues were special. So why not just add the price difference for these "special" issues so that my subscription lasts 52 weeks?? I JUST WANT MY SUBSCRIPTION TO LAST 52 WEEKS. Really bad business model. Isn't this false advertising? It feels like I am being cheated for sure. I can save my money and just get my news elsewhere. read more

I am very disappointed in how they treat loyal customers. I was paying about $28 a month for a good 2 years. Than it went up to about $32 and this last period it spiked to $43! I checked online and to be a member off the streets they pay $28 a month! I called a few days after I cancelled and I asked the Rep any specials going on and she repeated the specials online so nothing to jump on. It was also confirmed the record has these premium editions that cost more and when they come out will lessen subscription length by one week and six come out a year! I am disappointed in that the record was charging old subscribers 43 and letting newbies not under special $28. There should of been a price adjustment automatically to the customers favor. When I told the Rep this she was indifferent and separated her company from the record and indicated "that's what the company did and we had no control." This is no way to treat the community you serve. read more

One star is too many for the Record. Apparently they don't value my business enough to provide the service I pay for, so I am canceling my subscription after years of frustrating delivery. I spend more time calling in no deliveries than I do reading the Record. Enough. Goodbye Record! read more

Too bad I can give this a 0 stars, this news paper is a joke, their customer service is horrible and they really don't care about their costumers, bought a six month subscription for $20 dollars and the paper was only deliver for the first 3 weeks called customer service and talk to like 3 different people and nobody could tell me what was going on, one of the customer service representatives told me that she was going to forward my complaint to the supervisor and he was going to call me, but of course I never heard back from them; Oh wait I did when they were calling almost every day asking me to come back what a joke, Oh and if you looking to read the record online be aware that visitors will be able to view some content and up to 3 articles per month for free. Registered Members have free access of up to 10 articles/month if you want to read more you will have to pay $4.99 per month to read news you can get for free some where else, really? Are you kidding me? This is the only news paper who charges to view news online that I know of , not even the LA Times charges money to read their news online, this news paper is a joke plain and simple. read more

Giving the new paper delivery person two thumbs up. First time in years I haven't had to look for my paper in the bushes, the roof, or buried behind a fern. The Record has always carried great local news, with ok coverage of state and national news. But allowing me to find the paper every morning without a prolonged search has made my mornings so much better. Kudos to the new delivery person and to the hardworking staff at the Record! read more

If I could give them a zero I would. I paid for a year of weekend delivery (customer service now says six months). Then they took three unapproved quarterly payments out of my bank account so I should have a year and nine months of weekend delivery. After the third unapproved withdrawal, I closed my bank account so there was no fourth unapproved payment. I have contacted 'customer service' multiple times and that was a complete waste of time. Asked them to stop taking my money, that didn't work. Now no paper delivery, so I called. So appreciate their creative accounting and general misunderstanding of how calendars work. Oh and my receipts show amounts paid but not delivery type or timeframe. Save yourself the time and trouble, don't get the Record!! read more

This is the last follow up I will post. Sorry all for the rant. But they should rename the paper to the Stockton joke. They haven't been able to delivery a Sunday paper now for 3 weeks straight. I call and leave the paper delivery issue request however with their usual lack of service a single replacement paper has yet to be delivered. I have lived in Stockton for 60 years. I even delivered the Stockton Record as a kid. Sadly, what they try to pass for news is at least a day late. The only worthwhile parts of this paper are the comics and the word jumble. The delivery is not even that good. I cancelled the paper but my wife reinstated it under her name. read more

Delivery is very good, thanks. However, the reason the Record's readership is declining could be because the entire publication is slanted too far left! The Op-ed page dialogue seems to permeate every story throughout the publication (in some fashion). So The record resorts to raising their home delivery rates about 35%. Don't worry for now though, because I will still take the paper so as to "keep my enemies closer". Ultimately, The Record will loose even the subsidizing clients due to liberal- left "news" and especially inaccurate, deceptive, and incomplete reporting (too numerous to list). I challenge my students regularly to take a highlighter and denote opinion from facts within almost any article in this publication TO PROVE MY POINT. Next I show my students what has been left out (teaching the lie of omission), and what is inaccurate (so as to slant their perceptions). Typical left wing tactics: "Hook em" by their heart strings, and then cry righteous indignation repeatedly until short memories forget that after all, history is only what they say it is. Older readers should know better, but young minds are distracted and easily manipulated. So you continue to spread the lies until the generation (you despise) is gone. I attended a couponing class at the record. At the couponing class they told us we would receive a 5.00 gift card to the store of our choice for each subscription we bought. I got three Sunday papers sent to my house for 3 mos. I have NEVER received the three 5.00 gift cards that were promised to me. I intend to cancel the paper. read more

I am so disappointed with the service from the Record. I cancelled the paper once this time last year because the carrier delivered my Sunday only paper half the time. In July they called with a 1-year special so I signed up again to give them another try. All was going well until they stopped delivering about 3 weeks ago. I sent requests to deliver the paper again and they did not respond each week. Finally I sent an email last week and they told me I had a balance due and had to call billing. The rude guy in billing explained I had a balance because of the "premium" papers I received. I explained I didn't request a premium service and he said several times I should have read page 2 of the paper that explain the premium charges. The next conversation was with the manager who told the same story but said said he would request they reverse the charges and start my subscription. I never received any notification of these extra charges when I signed up or when they just stopped my service. Now it's Sunday again and I have no paper and I've lost 8 months of a one-year subscription that I paid for. These people are scammers. read more
