Couldn't get a drink or food here if I tried. Waited 10 min. Even a cleaner came through... still no sevice.

This is a huge barcade connected to Deerfoot Mall complete with a sports bar, claw machines, and ticket earning arcade games for prizes. Highly recommend for a fun kids day out of the house. Staff are super friendly and the food menu meets expectations for this venue. Their salmon pasta last time was a bit over ambitious at a high price point and too much oil for me personally, but their flat breads are great. I had their chicken club yesterday and the thick cut bacon in there next to the chicken was noticeably excellent. I devoured the poutine which has my favorite kind of dark gravy. Scope out some of their menu deals that include free game credits, some of them have amazing value almost making the food cost just a few bucks! I've been a few times here and their games are usually 99 percent working too and have an awesome variety of game types and titles.

Great place for a big kid like me. I like the concept. Definitely make a great place for a work social event. Upstairs they have games. They do have virtual snowboarding, shooting, air hockey and virtual golf for bigger kids like me. They have food served downstairs. I mean food there was ok. Not like wow. Yes this place attracts a younger crowd.

Think of this place as an adult Chuck E Cheese. Great place for people of all ages especially for the kids. It's huge and is an entertainment center with lots of different games A great variety of games, new and old however a bit pricey. I do love that everything is linked on your bracelet, so no tickets or tokens to carry around. It's great that you can grab a beverage while you/your kids play games. The food was ok, but the prices were a little high for what you get. We ordered a bunch of appies and I would say the nachos and wings were definitely under whelming (so much lettuce on nachos that it made it so soggy). Pizza was good but the service in the restaurant is very slow. Lots of improvement to be made. Hopefully next time it will be better.

Went in to buy a gift card for Christmas and went straight to The Pumps to get an injected donut. I picked the depth charge and got vanilla custard injected into it... It didn't taste any better than a Boston Creme from Tim Hortons. I'll try the restaurant next time.

In the states we have Dave & Buster but the Rec Room is SO much better! This two story, adult and child friendly space is filled with both "traditional" to virtual games, ping pong tables, pool tables and a surround sound bar and restaurant! Whoot! As for the restaurant, we opted for calamari and a lasagna which were both decent for this sort of establishment! They also served up free popcorn! Definitely recommend coming here for family or date night!

We had a work function at this property and there are a lot of 'pros' including ample parking, ability to facilitate large groups, lots of space, unique and funky decor. Unfortunately, it's just not my kind of place. There is a lot of noise, it's a glorified arcade and the food service was slow at best. Of interest, I received the BILL for my drink before I was even served my drink. I refused to pay until I had drink in hand, then I was approached for payment when I was in the food line. I think the format is very challenging for the servers. I don't blame her for not wanting to be shorted, but maybe deliver the drink with the bill next time when facilitating a 'pay-as-you-go' customer. It's not worth it, in my opinion, however I didn't give a one star because some of the group seemed to enjoy it.

I have been hearing mixed reviews from people for many months now. I have wanted to go to get my own opinion but the only issue was that this place is all the way on the other side of the city from where I live. I live in the deep south and it is in the deep north (past the airport). So I knew that when I went I had to be committed. That is why when my friends decided to have a joint birthday there- it was great! When I walked in the first thing I noticed is that it reminded me of a casino in Las Vegas. You have option- you can sit and eat food in the restaurant, you can go to the stand up bar, they have a separate room called the "garage" for bigger groups that want a sit down meal and to stay with their friends that only has 4 big table sin it. There is a walk up "fast food" bar and there is also a restaurant where you can only get poutine, but about 6 different kinds of poutine such as to say if you want something to eat but can't get into the restaurant or something along those lines. The pricing I thought was very reasonable for tickets to play games. The tickets also last you a long time because generally at every game there is a line so to use 200 tickets- you think they will go fast but they don't. Especially when your with your friends. If you want to play an individual game it isn't bad but if you want to challenge people it will take longer to be able to get both of you on the same machine. They have games for everyone- riding games on motorcycles or cars, fake beer pong, piano playing games, sports games like basketball or football, brain memory memorization challenging games, piano playing games, fishing games with a rod and all, etc. The only upsetting part is the part about alcoholic beverages pricing. I got a cesar and expected it to be about $8 which is above average for a Cesar... it was $12!!! && it was the worst Cesar I have had in my life! It was so spicy when I asked for no spice and was full of chunks! It also came with a pickle, salami and egg on top but the egg was disgusting because it was like a "picked egg" it was extremely vinegary. I was so disappointed with the cesar. However, drafts are a decent price and they have Okanagon on tap which is an Apple Cidar that I was impressed with. They have an upstairs which is awesome too. It has a bar, couches, stage and more tables and a big screen and lots of the free games like ping-pong and pool. I like that they offer free games for you to play while your waiting for the line to die down for other games. Overall, good place! I hope it lasts! I don't know if I will be going back here anytime soon but it is only because I live so far away but now I know what all the hype is about.

From the brunch menu: Eggs in Purgatory
    Stephanie M.

I had been hearing that the Rec Room was crazy busy ever since they opened this fall. Not wanting to deal with the evening crowds, I made my first visit during the quieter weekend brunch time. The brunch menu features deluxe versions of breakfast favourites including eggs benedict with smoked salmon on mushroom caps and a bacon sandwich using pea-meal bacon on a brioche bun. For my meal, I ordered the skillet breakfast: a skillet with a base of smashed potatoes topped with cheese curds, beef brisket, onions, beer cheese sauce and two eggs. I'll admit I didn't read the menu very well and didn't realize the dish came with a cheese sauce in addition to the cheese curds. I found this made the dish a little too heavy. Some tomatoes or other vegetables would have helped brighten up the skillet. However, this was helped by one of the side dishes of arugula salad with vinaigrette. The other side was smashed potatoes which, while delicious, were redundant to the same potatoes included in the dish itself. My table-mate ordered the "Eggs in Purgatory", which is also tried. I preferred this meal, which consisted of two eggs poached in a slightly spicy tomato sauce served with foccacia and the same arugula salad. I don't usually do the whole "cocktails with breakfast" thing, but I did see that there were several breakfast cocktails on the menu. I did enjoy that a mini bag of popcorn is offered when you are seating, in lieu of the standard "table bread". The Rec Room offers something for everyone: restaurant, full bar/hangout and games. After just having the food, I would return to taste the full menu.

Best Caesar salad I've had in a restaurant in a while!

During a child's birthday party today, a mother who uses a wheelchair was told by staff that mobility devices are not permitted inside the play area, comparing her wheelchair to a stroller. After moving through the facility without incident earlier in the day, she was suddenly stopped and told she could not enter. She asked to speak with management. Dana came out and told the mother that this was true and that corporate policy states that wheelchairs are not allowed in the play area. When the mother pushed back on this policy as a violation of human rights (which it is), the manager (Dana) told the mother that she was allowed in but that her wheelchair wasn't allowed. After more discussion the manager let her know she could only re-enter to collect her child after wiping down her wheels. When she asked for assistance due to her disability, the manager responded, "We aren't your maids," and escalated the situation by claiming she (the manager) was being discriminated against as an Asian Canadian. Multiple witnesses confirmed the exchange, and the manager later reiterated the claim, describing it as a corporate policy to bar wheelchairs from the facility--even for parents supervising children. This is a clear violation of basic principles of accessibility and human rights law in Alberta and Canada more broadly. I encouraged the mother to report this to the Human Rights Commission of Alberta (and provided her resources). I hope that an investigation follows

The play structure I was told (9,11 & 12yr old) was pretty fun and I like that there was a smaller one for kids 5 and under as well as the big one. There is a variety of activities but all on the 'small' side and all cost extra. Eg mini gulf quite mini, 'arcade' 4 out of the 9 are out of order. Bowling is extra money as well. Extra 'adults' cost extra too. Severely understaffed, not enough help at the front or at the concession stand. Where it took 20mins to get a small very cold serving on fries and simple not very good sandwich. When returning the cold fries apologies were given that they would get hot ones out in 5mins and bring them to me. Over 10mins later we went to find out where they were and there sitting, getting cold were our fries with no employee to be seen. Not enough sitting for parents, many people standing or defensive over their tables/chairs to a point of yelling for their kids instead of risking losing there spot. Overall the kids all lost interest within a short period of time and at approx $44 (before extra cost games and food) it's not likely we will return any time in the near future.

I told myself that the last time would be "The last time", but a 5 year old wants what he wants and…read moretoday he and his buddy really wanted to go to the play place by our house. Close and convenient for me, but today was the last time I will walk in the door. I have gone here with my boy a couple of times and found it to be Sub-par for more than a couple of reasons. First of all - I can understand the "No outside food" rule- they want to make money just like everyone else, but the food is terrible and over priced. Seriously....how do you mess up a cup of black coffee!!!??? Easy fix, eat before you go and don't buy their food and all is good. That I can live with. Second - I can understand the "Kids must wear socks" rule - I think that that is a great idea to keep your kids feet at least a little cleaner, but whatever you do, don't think about their hands!!!!! BRING HAND SANITIZER!!!! Oh, and make sure that they don't touch their face. The place really smells!!!! In all fairness, if you put a bunch of sweaty kids in a room and it is bound to have a sent, but WOW it is bad in there. It smells like someone peed in the ball pit!!! On top of everything else, it just "feels" plain old dirty from the second that you walk in the door to the point that, as and adult, you don't want to touch anything. I could even live with that - kids are gross, especially little boys!!! They get dirty all of the time, but there are limits to what you want to expose them to. One more note one the "Socks" rule. There is a sign that clearly states that they would prefer that you don't wear your outdoor shoes. Perfectly understandable!!! Who wants muddy, dirty, wet boots traipsing all over the carpet where kids are running all over the place, but god forbid...... DON'T BRING SLIPPERS FROM HOME!!!!!!!! You see, I don't walk around my own house in socks. I will either be barefoot or in slippers. I'm a fully all grown up 300lbs 42 year old man and I feel that it would be perfectly reasonable for me to bring slippers....nope!!! The staff will look at you like you just walked into their house and kicked their dog. This was today and the reason that I walked out. I'm just glad that I had not paid yet. Third - The staff.......I would like to give the staff a piece of, hopefully, useful advice- IF YOU HATE KIDS, DON'T WORK IN A PLACE FULL OF KIDS!!!!! You would think that this is self explanatory, but apparently it is not. It is exceedingly easy, simply don't give a kid a filthy disgusted look for running around screaming like a nutcase when you cater to a demographic that run around screaming like little nutcases. The kids won't notice, but I notice!!!!!! For that matter, I'll take it one step further.... IF YOU HATE PEOPLE IN GENERAL, DON'T WORK IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I don't mean to be rude, but come on!!!!!! Don't look at me like I'm interrupting your work when I need assistance.........I AM YOUR WORK!!!!!! In the end.....skip that noise and go to that other place near by. I don't want to say the name of the place, but it starts with a "T" ends with a "K' and the middle rhymes with "ommy". They cost more and have all of the same rules, but actually seem to like people and don't get bent out of shape if you want to wear your slippers.
