The Read House is stunning and has a very jazzy, 1920s feel! The lobby is gorgeous and the service was top tier. The valet and front-desk were friendly and helpful. Champagne was delicious and the Queen Premier room was comfortable for 2 (with a big bathroom for getting ready in the mornings). All around amazing experience! Do some exploring and find the ballroom, garden, and some historical information.

This was a last minute booking to treat myself and a friend after doing an intense 5 mile hike. We were only spending one night in the area, but rather than a large chain, we opted for this historic hotel. The lobby is gorgeous and hearkens back to early last century with the decor and feel of the place. Everything looked well-restored, and I appreciated the library and various seating areas off the main entrance. We received a warm greeting from the front desk along with our room information. Unfortunately, the good vibes ended once we went upstairs to our room. Upon entering our room we were overwhelmed by the smell of damp. The carpet was wet when I took off my shoes, and the windows were not clean and looked partly fogged. We called to the front desk, and the gentleman who answered met us on the fifth floor with keys to a new room and helped us move a few doors down. The room smelled dry, and we settled in. It was not until a bit later that I went to the bathroom, and was disappointed to see the state of the bathtub. Peeling paint screaming for a new finish, to the point the bar of soap I dropped mid-shower picked up multiple paint chips. My friend let me know later that the carpet near her bed was a bit damp (but not to the extent of the first room). Overall, for $250 for a single night ($275 with parking) I was disappointed in the room experience. Shared spaces on the first floor are gorgeous, just wish the same care was carried up to guest's rooms.

Antique mailbox system in the lobby.

This is the definition of a luxurious hotel in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. Step in the doors and travel back in time to a place where style and taste know no boundaries. Every corner is filled with glorious artifacts of the past. The staff is more than accommodating. Every detail has been handled and you can just relax. Have a cocktail at the house bar, which is a first class experience. Play a game of billiards or listen to music before, or after dinner. There is a fabulous restaurant in site. Other amenities include a pool, spa, and gym and valet parking! The rooms are spacious and just as luxurious. I definitely recommend The Read house for business or pleasure!

#chattburgerweek this was the amazing pineapple burger with two patties. It was delicious. Great service too.

Great service at The Read House bar near the lobby. Our bartender was terrific grey haired gentleman. We will definitely be back and they have a happy hour too! We went for #chattburgerweek

The entire facilities are clean. The only negative is that it smells too strong of clean. Great location and great staff. Very cool speakeasy type bar to end your day!! The hotel is old and the refreshed rooms have not lost that Historical personality. We have stayed here three times and will return. We travel often and this has as much character as any we have stayed in around the world!!

Gorgeous lobby done up for the holidays

We had been doing 2 NY-NOLA road trips and back in December. An overnight stop is a necessity and we've stayed in a Motel 6 (never again will I sleep with one eye open like that), a Hilton Garden Inn (acceptable, even if a little boring), and The Read House which felt like a splurge but was a very affordable rate on Hotel Tonight. We were in the newer section (read about it! They added a "motor inn" in the early 60s apparently) which is I suppose less posh than the old section, but still quite comfortable with not-so-small rooms and an extremely comfortable bed. Yes, the bathroom needs updating (and the tub a serious paint job) and sure, the outlets weren't a-plenty, but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and wished we could have stayed a second night. We didn't use the pool or workout room, but I took a look at them. The workout room seems to have just what anyone might need and the pool extremely inviting in ways that newer hotel indoor pools are not. That lobby, by the way! Exquisite! It was still all decorated for the holidays and it's incredible with its lit trees and glittery reindeer. The massive chandeliers beg your attention and if you are inclined to do so, you may feel like you're back in (a more charming) time. And then, you, too, may head to Starbucks in the corridor leading off to the right.

Ask the Community - The Read House

Is there self parking? Any EV plug-ins?

They only have valet on premise in the garage, but there is parking on the street. About 5-10 minutes away near the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel is EV plug-ins. Near the Frothy Monkey.

I was in town for a wedding and this was the recommended hotel. I'm a Hilton Gold member and I was…read morerecognized as such when I checked in. The hotel is nice and spacious. My room was clean and very comfortable, with a small couch, table and chair. The bathroom was well kept, with plenty of space for your toiletries. However, I was given a room on the second floor that looked out onto the lobby roof and the parking garage. I expected a room with a better view given my Gold status. The staff was pleasant and helpful. However, I found the internet appeared to be spotty at times. You had to reconnect every morning to the internet, which I do not recall this being required at other Hilton properties I stayed at, especially a Curio Collection hotel. In addition, you sometimes had to reconnect while in your room. One day, I went down to breakfast and although I re-checked onto the internet that morning, by the time I got downstairs, it was off again and I had to re-check in again. The parking garage on the property was free (you need to pull a ticket at first), and you get in and out with your room key. However, if you should stay passed your checkout time (like I did for lunch), when I went to use the key to leave the garage, it did not work. I had to repark, go back to the Front Desk and get the key card re-programmed. The gentleman at the Front Desk said the key card becomes nonresponsive at checkout time. I recommend the Front Desk inform its guests of this cutoff so that if you should enjoy lunch there or want to walk around the area before leaving, you are aware of this situation before you walk out to the garage and have to come back in.

The Chattanoogan was the perfect home base for my trip to Chattanooga. The property is beautiful,…read morespacious, and well-maintained, with plenty of room for conventions, conferences, and large events without ever feeling crowded. My room was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly large, with beautiful views of the city. The staff was welcoming, and the overall atmosphere felt upscale while still being relaxed and inviting. One of the highlights of my stay was dining at Forge, the hotel's restaurant. If you visit, do yourself a favor and order the Honey Whipped Feta. The creamy, silky feta paired with sweet honey and served with charred baguette was absolutely delicious and one of the best appetizers I've had in a long time. Between the comfortable accommodations, excellent dining options, and convenient location, The Chattanoogan is a fantastic choice whether you're visiting for business, a convention, or a weekend getaway. I'd happily stay here again.

Check in was smooth and the person checking me in was really nice. But what I liked the most.. is that they have happy hour EVERYDAY!! The room and common areas were all clean. They even had an outside deck lounge area. Overall good experience.

I came to Chattanooga expecting the usual hotel math: decent room, forgettable hallway carpet, and…read morea breakfast that somehow tastes beige. Instead, Embassy Suites decided to flex. From the moment I walked in, the place had that polished, easygoing vibe that makes you feel like you made the right call before you even hit the elevator. The environment is genuinely nice, some vintage Volkswagens were on display in the lobby... the kind of space that feels welcoming instead of transactional. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and, most importantly, stayed that way because housekeeping actually serviced them daily. That alone feels like a luxury these days. The location is not exactly the crown jewel of Chattanooga, but it nails the one thing that matters when you're traveling: convenience. It's easy to get where you need to go, easy to get back, and easy to settle in without feeling like you're fighting the city. And the staff? Warm, friendly, and consistently helpful. The kind of team that makes hospitality feel like hospitality. But the moment that won me over was the Little Debbie snack waiting in the room at check-in. That tiny touch somehow said, "Welcome to Tennessee, we speak fluent comfort food." A good hotel gives you a room. A great one gives you a reason to smile before you even unpack. That's exactly what this place gets right. It may not sit in the most exciting location, but it absolutely understands the guest experience. Clean rooms, daily service, kind staff, and just enough thoughtful touches to make the stay memorable. So I came in expecting standard hotel beige and left thinking about snack cakes, spotless rooms, and how easy they made the whole trip feel. Four stars, and yes, Little Debbie absolutely helped close the deal. And the VW's are a nice twist too!
