It was an efficient operation, the people running it spoke French, and I liked their menu. They do sweet and savory, and the savory ones are vegan, gluten-free buckwheat if you need that. I tried a "Canadian Delight" with maple syrup and some deliciously toasted almonds. I can't recall ever having had maple syrup on a crepe before, but it sure worked. Just to see if it was the maple that did it, I stopped in to load up before flying with a dark chocolate and caramel crepe, and found their house caramel sauce every bit as enticing. Of course, they're thin and there's not a ton of value for the money in these or any other crepes, but people keep eating them for a reason. When delicately prepared, they are quite intoxicating. I had expectations for the highs and lows of New Zealand, and by and large, they played out to form. I did not, however, expect "hot French chicks who make great crepes" to be among the strengths, but here we are.

I visited this place quite some time ago and I had some amazing pizza here and the service was down right friendly and welcoming! It probably helped that the owner recognized me and was honored to have my travel companion and I at their establishment and offered to comp our meal. I said no thank you I will pay and I left them a large tip for there kindness and welcoming atmosphere. We had the Rocket and Prosciutto, Antipasto (for 2), Carne Pizza, and the Quattro Formaggi Pizza. my companion had the Nutella calzone and I had their only option for chocolate free gelato. A MUST PLACE TO VISIT AND EAT AT IF YOU ARE VISITING THE CITY!!! All pizza had an amazing crust which I haven't had since my studies at École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in France. The gelato was smooth and very silky. The salad was good quality and the antipasto had several good options although I remember it being waay too much food so we gave our leftover to some homeless people we saw later that evening. EVERY-TIME I PERFORM IN AUCKLAND, THIS IS MY GO TO PIZZA SPOT!

The pizzas are in the napoletana style with puffed crust on the outer edge and thin underneath. Menu has limited options for salads / veg on the side. Overall thought the pizzas were really pricey for the size and quality relative to other spots in the neighborhood.

It was open at the time I was in the area and it did look inviting. I perused the menu and decided to give it a try. Walking in I saw the old-fashioned furnishings, metal chairs, display cases, wall shelves, big bar in the middle all in a long and narrow room. Yessss, this looks lie something out of the 50s and I like it. After a long hard look at the menu I opted for the Salami platter... Strangely enough there wasn't salami, but more like a smoked ham, prosciutto like meat. It tasted great, so what's in a name. Delicious heirloom tomatoes, capers, salami impersonator, cream cheese, capers, pickles and your choice of bread. I had chosen crumpets and regretted that . Not because they weren't delicious, because they were so yummy, but they were also so buttery that I couldn't get the cream cheese to stick and everything I tried to put on the crumpet just slid right off them. I got the bottomless cup of coffee and I must say, this is really good coffee and the refills kept coming also. I love the atmosphere in here and there are so many great choices on the menu. If I ever come back tot Auckland, I will definitely stop by this place again.

It's a popular place and they were crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. There was plenty of food for each order. My wife had a street dog and fries and I had a Ruben. They were pretty decent. I wasn't as happy with the fries. They were like the bottom of a pile and mostly little pieces with very few full length slices. Prices were extremely reasonable. I would definitely eat there again.

So for some of my past reviews I've even considered to deduct stars off. Now that is not to say I didn't enjoy my meal here, I've loved the food every single time, it's just that there are a few bits and pieces that made me reluctant to give a full 5 stars. I've always enjoyed their sandwiches. While they come in quite on the expensive side, I find them worth the price. My French toast this morning was $19.50 (or $19), probably not for the faint of heart. The raspberry/custard was gorgeous, which to me more than justifies the price, it is winter after all. Here's why there's no five stars. First off, please please please get your cutleries sorted!!! I think I can cut my French toast better if I used the handle of the knife. The first knife I got was super obviously bent at the tip, about 45 degrees bent! Service, just as others pointed out, needs some quality control. I can try to justify your price as much as I can but dining in just isn't that great, and while your food is great, everything else is, well, meh. So on the basis of "I value good food more than anything", it's a 4 stars UPDATE: Service has improved since my last visit. It was a busy lunch but we still got taken care of :)

But I keep a tight rein on the will to live enjoying the homemade hot chocolate. This is a great place for somewhere casual to eat, for comforting homey meals. The meals are designed for sharing and individual portions. We came for lunch, so I didn't want anything too heavy. The roasted cauliflower soup was delicious. It was a great texture - not too think and not too runny. I don't actually eat pork very often - but I took a nib to try the flavour and they were relatively tasty. A big plus was the butter - Im pretty sure they used Al Browns Smoked Butter. - If you haven't tried this butter - man its delicious and can be bought at most supermarkets i think. The atmosphere is warm, quiet and comforting. Great place for a chilled out lunch, dinner or drink. Proof that Loop is in the loop when it comes to dietary trends among the healthy right now, including LCHF - Low carb high fat. My friends got the bacon + eggs (LCHF and GF). What arrives is a beautifully presented dish, refined and much more sophisticated than your regular breakfast bacon and eggs. "Bacon" turns out to be squares of soft pork belly, and the eggs are soft-boiled quail eggs encased in chorizo and squid meat, scotch-egg style. For my entrée I ordered: Prawn Tortellini, who would know pasta that is gluten free could be so light and delightful. For my main I had Roast Pork Loin with Smoked Parsnip, Rhubarb, Nut Clusters, Brussel Sprouts, Sage and Jus. I loved the idea of praline and rhubarb with my meat. Who would know you could have dessert with your dinner on the same plate. For dessert I tried my friends Black Forest Fondant with Griottines Cherries, Pistachio, Vanilla Cream, Black Cherry Ice Cream. What a gorgeously presented plate. Made me want to go back to have a plate of my own. I left knowing I was free from gluten but had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. The only downer is that the service could have been better and they would have got another glass of wine out of me if only they had come and asked. The wait was also a little long for each course.
