The ingredients are local, the menu is seasonal and the daily specials are well considered, fresh and all-round delightful. Though I don't drink, I understand the gin (and tonic) selection to be incredible. Whilst definitely not the cheapest place to eat locally, it is more than reasonable with the fresh, local ingredients and the skill obviously put into making them. Most recently I visited and between three of us sampled (read: devoured) some cod cheek tempura, scallops with an avocado purée, sesame tempura prawns, fish & chips and a double-serving of seafood chowder. These were mainly daily specials and so I had requested earlier in the day that they didn't run out of chowder for me. It honestly is the best thing ever. Saying that - as much as I adore chowder - the cod cheeks are amongst the best dishes I have ever tasted. The food is seasoned perfectly. However, putting my pickiness aside it was worth paying just because of the location as I wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, and this place ticks those boxes. Pub restaurant serves good food, although the service was a tad slow, but the meal was worth the wait in the end, as it was delish.
