I had a loved one come to the ranch for 6 weeks for suicide ideations, depression, anxiety, and co-dependency on people they were close to. The loved one worked the program and was discharged after 6 weeks. I am upset for many of reasons: 1.) While the loved one was in treatment no calls were made to people involved in this loved ones life. To gather information and details as to why they ended up coming into the program at the ranch. 2.) After being discharged no follow up from the ranch. Basically they discharged them and that was it. 3.) Circling back to my first point; if calls would have been made the loved one would most likely not be where they are today. They attempted to take their life last week, and we as the care givers and support are hustling to get the loved one into a better facility with proper help. If they would have reached out to us, the treatment plan might have looked differently. Instead of listening to only the client (who has a past of over exaggerating, lying, and manipulating people and situations) they should have reached out for the truth. I am heartbroken for our loved one and very disappointed in the ranch. I know this is not the experience for all that seek help and treatment there, but maybe the ranch needs to reevaluate how they gather information on their clients. read more

When I arrived they did not have space for me so I was forced to stay in a medical unit a bed was made available which it never was. They deprived me of a chance to make a phone call so I was unable to communicate with the outside world. The staff was incredibly unprofessional and rude and I heard several members making racist comments. When I left they did not pack the medications I had brought with me and was forced to go cold turkey. It was a total disaster from start to finish and I received no apology from anyone for what had transpired. read more

I've come to the conclusion that they just want your money. A relative was admitted nearly 4 months ago and discharged after a few days due to the severity of her symptoms after I paid $5,500 in advance for 28 days room and board. In the beginning they were reluctant to even show me a copy of the contract until I gave them my credit card info and when I did they billed me the $5,500 within 24 hours. At the time she was discharged they told me that no charges were incurred for room and board during her brief stay and I would be getting a refund of my money. I have yet to see that refund. They told me 11 weeks ago that I would get it in 4-6 weeks, but when I call to find out why the delay they just tell me that it is being reviewed by "corporate." When I reminded them that they billed my credit card within 24 hours but it has now been 3 1/2 months waiting for a refund the girl at customer service laughed and said it takes longer to get a refund than it does for them to bill the credit card. At least she was honest. I should point out that there were also some additional charges incurred while she was there and that charge (which I don't have a problem with) was also promptly billed to my credit card. It appears that they will take your money in a heartbeat, but delay as long as they possibly can to make a legitimate refund. As for their treatment program, I have no comment one way or the other since my relative never got into the treatment program before being discharged. Just spent 3 days at a professionals retreat at The Ranch touring and experiencing some of what the program offers. What an exceptional staff, location, and program. Every need was attended to with courtesy and efficiency. Clinically the program is thorough, contemporary, and creative incorporating a number of modalities to address a variety of addiction issues. I would not hesitate to recommend The Ranch to a friend, client, or family member in need....really. Incredible! read more

You guys... when I tell you run so far away from this place until you can't stop running. They are a TOTAL SCAM. All they want is your money & don't even try to negotiate with your insurance company to get covered. They want to screw you a couple days into your stay and try to force you to pay out of pocket. They would not sign my work release for my company because I had to leave since my insurance stopped covering my inpatient stay- they tried to say I left against medical advice. This place is a sorry excuse for a recovery center. I went expecting a mental detox and I was placed in living quarters, Piney Lodge, with drug addicts and alcoholics. It was completely misrepresented and I'm surprised they haven't been sued for insurance fruad. read more

I attended a weekend for professionals and I was very impressed with every part of their program. I am a licensed therapist and am very familiar with some famous treatment centers. I believe The Ranch surpasses everything I have seen out there. Their staff is professional, highly trained, and motivated. Their programming is solid. They provide state-of-the-art treatment for addictions, including sex addiction. Also they are very skilled at treating eating disorders. read more

I had a wonderful experience attending Professionals Weekend at The Ranch. The Ranch us an inpatient treatment program for a variety of issues.e.g. eating disorders, intimacy issues, chemical dependency and the Center for Relationship and Sexual Recovery to name a few. Various treatment modalities and ways are available. I was introduced to equine therapy this afternoon. The setting is tranquil. Residences for residents are very home like. My son entered inpatient at The Ranch a few weeks ago. For the first time my son wants to be in recovery and says The Ranch has already made a tremendous difference in his life. He says the classroom work, counseling sessions, and team activities have been invaluable during this initial phase of his recovery. He has bonded with others in the program and says they support and encourage one another. His counselor has updated me weekly on his progress and the administrative staff have been dedicated to working through the insurance process. Our family is very blessed to have found this program. I am certain this solid foundation will contribute immensely to my son's full recovery. I will give an update when he completes and succeeds the program :) read more

I gave The Ranch 4/5 stars only because I believe their therapy was absolutely life changing. I came to The Ranch for help with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and trauma from multiple forms of abuse and assault in my child hood. At first I was very displeased with the program here- things were different than what I was told they would be and people were not communicating well. Despite that, my time here was a blessing. I was able to process much of my trauma and heal many wounds. The trauma therapist, Lauren Mourier, changed my life. I would no have come as far as I did with out her. Some of the RAs were also absolutely amazing; Such as Pam, Irene, Tracey, and Rene (all work w/ River house). I highly recommend The Ranch to anyone and everyone that needs mental health help and is willing to take the risk of embracing emotions. I have never been as at peace with my trauma as I am now, and for that I am forever grateful towards The Ranch. As amazing as The Ranch was in their therapy, their communication sucked. Insurance would cut out and no one would tell you. Therapists weren't talking to doctors and vice versa. You would be discharged with a less than 24 hour notice of the time they tell you to leave. Family members who would call daily for updates rarely spoke to anyone and got little to no answers. In many ways it felt as if The Ranch was just a business and didn't care of their clients. Also, some RAs were very unprofessional towards the clients- forgetting their meds at the house, refusing to give timely needed meds, blaming clients for their own (the RAs) problems, bending house and campus rules for favored clients, and even starting drama and arguments between clients because of RAs gossiping. These RAs were Amy, Holly, and Regina (All work w/ River house). They did not know how to do their job and were extremely unprofessional on every shift. read more

After attending a professionals weekend at the Ranch, I am so impressed with all they have to offer. The staff is a creative blend of what is best in our field for a variety of addictions, from eating disorders, to drug/alcohol, sex, etc. The area is serene and peaceful, the client living spaces are beautiful. It's not a "spa" rehab facility, rather a down to earth, back to basics approach to life. I would highly recommend this program for people who are serious about recovery. read more

Our family member was sick and we were searching for a recovery treatment center for truama and sexual/drug addiction. The process started out ok with tons of promises and hope. Immediately they began playing 'used car sales' games regarding our co-pay. They new we were not rich but continued to pray on us and ask for additional money. Around 2/15 he was admitted. He was told he would be held in the medical unit for a few days before being transferred to the sexual recovery program that we paid for. Problem #1 - he stayed in the medical unit for 15 days and did not receive the treatment promised as a result. Problem #2 - he was known to be a self-harmer yet they allowed access to razor blades and he severely cut himself resulting in 117 stiches Next - I (the spouse) contacted The Ranch to inquire as to why DJ was still in medical and not his recovery house (Spring House). An intake coordinator, basically said he didn't care and that (exact quote)"we have no shortage of clients here". They disregarding my concern. Half of his stay was NOT in the program we paid for. Then, the mother of the client called to simply ask a question about insurance. The young lady she spoke to told her (without merit), "If you file an insurance claim you will go to jail". She told her this twice I was promised constant contact with both of his counselors. I heard from nobody for nearly a week despite constant calls. We just wanted to know if he was ok. I was told in the intake process that I would be able to contact both therapists on a regular basis. I spoke with one occasionally but he was very hard to reach and the other never returned a single call or email. I was promised Skype therapy sessions with the client, myself and the therapist. This never happened. The Ranch tried very hard to collect additional funds from our family to get him to stay an additional month. They used tactics like calling one family member and when they said no they called the next. Finally, as a last resort they manipulated him (the client) and had him cry on a phone call with everyone on the phone in an attempt to get us to pay via shame. The fact was we had no more money to spend. Family Weekend known as FOO - we were lied to and told we would have time to spend together on a Saturday night and dinner would be brought in from an Italian restaurant. When Sat night came, nobody was aware of the plan and we were told to leave. Finally after lots of fighting - I was allowed to stay until 8pm and we were served cold turkey and stuffing with no beverages at all. In addition at FOO - we were told we would do a powerful exercise called 'regrets, requests, affirmations'. The Ranch, in a miscommunication, failed to give us time for this important exercise while everyone else processed it in group. When the money ran out - they turned all aftercare planning over to him with little help. Charged my credit for unauthorized charges. My contract stated I needed to pre-approve any ancillary services. They ignored this and charged my card on MANY occasions. Told me that he was receiving EMDR (and I was billed) when he was not receiving the treatment at all. They promised he would have, at minimum, weekly sessions with a psychiatrist. This was not even remotely true. The icing on the cake was when the ranch emotionally abused the client - three days prior to leaving treatment. Net, net - we received nothing that was promised and instead got an abusive and manipulating excuse for a treatment center. The place has little to no care for people or clients....only money. Avoid this place. Send you family to other places like Elements, The Healing Center, SRI, etc. This place is a scam read more

Recently we sent our son to the Ranch. As parents we were very apprehensive. But I have to tell you The Ranch blew away any expectations we had! They were the most caring, understanding group of therapists and case managers we have ever been exposed too. Within the first week, we heard from son's case manager Jackie, who updated us on his progress. Soon after, we heard from our our son's therapist Amanda who was incredible! When we finally spoke with our son, he was a changed kid. He was happy and motivated to get better! To top things off, we went to the family therapy session, which lasted for FOUR DAYS! Doctor Rodney ended up delivering a very powerful message for the family in regards to how interactions occur, between the patient and their loved ones. Unfortunately, I have been to different treatment centers for other family members in the past, but nothing compares to this place. I would highly recommend the Ranch to anybody. read more

This has been the most incompetent bunch of people I have ever come in contact with. I came here to get help for trauma and ptsd which in the 14 days I was there I never met with one trauma therapists and had met with 5 varied therapists in separate group sessions. I was put in meetings with people of substance abuse and had none of that! Why am I attending AA meetings when I never had any issues with alcohol. Simply because they didn't have other meetings. The RAs only care the first day you get there otherwise they are busy texting and doing their own thing and eating!!!!!! One girl in our house even self harmed herself at. night meanwhile the RAs are supposed to constantly check your room if you have SI or SH issues so tell me how did this happen to this poor girl? I pulled 2 all nighters there and the RA came in only 2x LAZY!!! God forbid someone hurt themselves more seriously. Let's get onto meditation!! What a joke they put the same CD on everyday and everyone just sleeps on the couch!!!The psychiatrist Dr. Rodriguez should have her medical license taken away from her!!! She spends about 3 minutes per patient. She probably only has a job because her husband was the CEO!! Maggie the nurse comes in every am and gives medications and says same thing daily give it time and does nothing to help with discomfort. They also claim to not give benzos well bull they make exceptions because someone in my house had sleep disorder and was given back her benzo. This place is just full of false information. They people at Piney mainly Amber are as cold as can be. Stacy and Skylar I must say are exceptional and warm. There are a few people who care maybe a handful. I was put in a house with with many women who have had SI and self harm issues and I had nothing in common with them! I was there for opposite reasons. I feel I was just thrown where was an open bed. My first night there someone put someone in my room after a 2 hour screaming match outside the facility as she was on heroine. I was tramatized from then. I should have went home from there!! I tried to stick it out and TRUST THE PROCESS but there is no PROCESS!!! I would NEVER recommend this place and I hope it closes down. It hurts people more than helps them. Only positive thing was I met some very nice girls. My advise stay far far away. There are many other facilities that are safer and more caring. Please don't attend this place you will just be hurting yourself more. They will be hearing from my attorney on many different levels and of how I was mistreated. I only hope nobody ever experiences there what I did. BTW this place went under new ownership in January and is supposedly not the ranch it used to be. Shame on them!!!! read more

I went to the Ranch after the death of my father. I have complex ptsd and my dad's death sparked a crisis of suicidal impulses. I was assured by Elements Behavioral Health that the Ranch would help me. I was assured I would enjoy rest, recreation, and therapy. But when I arrived I was locked up, and denied privacy or the right to call my children. I had terrible insomnia and getting medication meant days of jumping through hoops. The RAs had no expertise in dealing with ptsd. One even bullied and humiliated me twice. The pressures caused me to have at least three dissociative episodes... Instead of care and inquiry into my condition, I was questioned with suspicion and even denied the right to call my children. My therapist required a daily log, a comprehensive timeline of traumatic experiences, and a painting. I completed all of these assignments but the therapist never discussed them with me. On returning home and starting with with a new psychologist, it became clear that I have a serious dissociative disorder. From the episodes I suffered at the Ranch it should have been clear to anyone who was paying attention that I have DID. But no one there took the time or made the effort to understand. It was a nightmare from start to finish. read more

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS FACILITY. I work in the health care field and am so unbelievably disappointed with their compassion and care for mentally ill patients. They stole money from us and will not return any phone calls. They discharged my loved one after one week and have no justification for the 4 weeks we paid for. No one will accept a call or return a call and will not return any money. They had no clue how to handle my loved one's condition and even the doctor said they should not have admitted. I came here for a mental health professional weekend and was completely blown away by the quality, care, and expertise of the clinicians, and staff that work at The Ranch. The moment that I stepped onto the grass of The Ranch property, I knew that this was a place where healing happens. Through our workshops and tours, it was proven this is the case. The level of care here exceeds exceptional. I would not hesitate to send a loved one or client to The Ranch, because I believe the integrated approach and level of genuine care that each person receives at The Ranch provides the needed foundation for lasting lifelong change.
