On The Waterfront - Goats cheese pizza with added crispy duck and mushrooms

Came here for bottomless drag brunch hosted in the Long Room. The event didn't start on time, had…read more45 minutes of entertainment but was advertised as a 2-hour event, and didn't match the theme of what was advertised. However, it's a restaurant review, so I'll limit it to the drinks, food, and service. There were 3 choices of alcoholic drinks: prosecco, cosmopolitan, and sex on the beach - they were alright; I wish there were more options, like wine and beer, which are also easy to serve bottomless. The pizza was yum. From what I could tell, I think they nailed the toppings, but I set the crust aside. Lastly, the staff there were great. They did amazing serving a large event and keeping the drinks flowing. The restaurant regularly hosts these special events and you can find upcoming events on their website.

On The Waterfront is (unsurprisingly) located on a lovely sunny spot on the waterfront. So you can…read moreeat, drink and be merry while watching all the swans and the river. The pizzas here are huuuuuuuge! I didn't read the menu carefully enough, so ordered a half and half pizza, with two flavours...not realising that I would receive a pizza double the size(!) I only managed to eat four slices - but they have pizza boxes for me to take the rest home. Although I was too full to move, my friend then ordered a chocolate fondue for us to share. Somehow I had a separate stomach for chocolate so we managed to eat most of it. The chocolate was a bit too runny, but it tasted good. In summary it's a nice place to spend lots of time watching swans and munching pizza.

Having taken the 'Hour Glass' pub off my list recently because of the very bad staff attitude, I…read morewas glad to find 'The Port Royal' Pub and Restaurant just a bit further along the river. Food = excellent value for money Staff are welcoming Price = I could go once a week during the week to keep myself bouyant. Setting= Romantic/Nautical/Easily walkable from the Quay (Parking limited) Buses= Just off Topsham Road (K, R, S & T from City Centre to St Leonard's Church). Big Big Helpings of yummy grub. Ideal for the University of Exeter Students with aquatic activites at hand. I think it's worth going regularly for locals and well worth a visit if you are a working tourist from Truro like myself. July 2010 Re-visited Port Royal recently and they were doing well because of the sunshine and people out walking. The food is passable still, but they barely cope when it is busy. Let's hope they can improve their customer service a little?

The owners are very friendly and offer a warm welcome. There are two sides to the pub (and four areas). There is the pool table and bar side, the bar side, eating area and the patio next to the river. the food is very nice and the bar stocks a wide range of drinks. Dogs are welcome in all but the official eating area but you can eat anywhere in the pub. Avoid the crowds and explore further up the river (away from the quay) and you will be rewarded.
