Took about 15 minutes while standing at the end of the bar to get service. Then tap beer tasted like shit. So we left.

We strongly recommend that you go early lest you run the risk of finding your favorite meat or side already sold out! $88.45 purchased a full rack of ribs (membrane on), 1/2 lb. each of brisket (fatty end) and pulled pork, sides of coleslaw and mac 'n cheese, and 3 orders of hush puppies. The brisket is solid, with pronounced bark and a salt/pepper based flavor profile that is classic central Texas. The lightly seasoned ribs, which also call central Texas to mind, separated cleanly at the bite, and may be eaten by themselves or with a dollop of the house mustard sauce. The latter is one of 3 sauces that are straight out of the Carolinas, the others being Lexington and East Carolina. All 3 are excellent, but the mustard sauce rivals the best of South Carolina. We recommend that you use the pulled pork, which is fine on its own, as a platform to sample all 3 sauces. The 3 sides were also top-notch. The coleslaw is a clean, fresh bite that works well to cleanse the palate as you move from one meat to the next. The mac 'n cheese is excellent, and we became addicted to the hush puppies, which we would rate far and away the best in the state. We look forward to the whole hog and house made banana pudding on our next visit. Because service is vulnerable to bad weather, always check their facebook page before setting out to make sure that they will be opening.

But I can tell you that whoever determined the menu and keeps everyone on track, and probably everyone at the restaurant put a little love into the place and a lot of love into their coworkers. You CAN taste the difference when people are happy. We went with an order of 3 large shrimp for each of us, and a half chicken and ribs with coleslaw and sweet potatoe fries. The shrimp were incredible! The size! The juiciness, the ability to get every bit of meat out of the tail! Everything about these was everything that I wanted. I couldn't believe that one serving of just 3 was so filling! (I think you would need 6 Red Lobster butterfly shrimp to equal the size of one but you cannot compare the taste as these are peel & eat.) Then I opened the protein box and realized that I had made the embarrassing mistake of not ordering a barbecue sauce. Humph. I think that should not have been such an easy mistake to make on their site. Thankfully, both of us like grilled food without dripping sauces and ... OMG ... We were not disappointed in the food! The ribs were like eating a meat candy. They were such a joy to hold the bone and just lightly pull the tender sweet meat off. There was barely any fat. The spice rub brought out the juices from deep inside the meat but only let them sit on the meat and inside the skin. The chicken was amazing! The dark meat practically ran juices down the front of our shirts as we bit into it, the same way that sweet corn does. The white meat was so juicy it was like the typical dark meat that most people achieve on Thanksgiving. Now, the coleslaw was one of the blandest I've tasted but I figured if you do have one of the spicier barbecue sauces you might be using it as a foil. Helping you to calm your mouth's fire down with the dressing. Of course, fries don't travel well and sweet potatoe are no different. But they were absolutely everything I expected. They were delicious!! I am having surgery in April and trying to see how to ship this food to me after that now. ;)

However, in execution I was a bit disappointed. I came with a group of 6, and I ordered the southwest sandwich with brisket. The disappointing thing about seeing the pass with the food in it, is that you can see your food sit. I saw my friends sandwich sitting for a good 10 minutes. It was just a bit slow. The brisket was bland, and was overpowered by the spicy aioli. They also forgot to ring up our to go order which was a bummer. The hotel breakfast across the street had a better smoked meat.

They served mostly traditional BBQ options from platters to tacos to sandwiches. The food was ready promptly and the service at the counter was friendly. I went with the two meat platter ($18). It came with two meats, a side, and a drink. I opted for the brisket and pulled pork as well as a side of corn. I also choose their original BBQ sauce. This was average at best. Both meats were a little dry, so the sauce needed to be added. The sauce was alright, a little smoky as well as sweet, but nothing great. The corn was fine as well. Will I go back? Probably not.

I said what the heck? Who goes to a BBQ place and doesn't order BBQ. Let's leave! Well, perhaps i said it more politely than that. I'm no fool. But we both decided to eat BBQ Pork sandwiches. They came with fries and a bit of coleslaw for you Carolina people who love to pollute your pure BBQ flavor. Okay yeah... I put it on my sandwich too but that don't make it right. There were sauces on the table to use. Wife says the "hot" one... is really hot! Me? I stayed with original and sweet. The sandwiches were excellent. The fries weren't your average fries you get at a fast food joint. They were seasoned well and were perfect with the pork sandwich. As a side note we wanted the ribs but it was lunch time and we didn't want to spend a ton of money on ribs. We wanted to eat light. Lucky for us, it was 1:45 and at 2:00pm Happy Hour started and we could order individual single ribs. Yes, they made us wait. We finished our sandwiches and ordered at 2:01pm. By 2:15 my stomach told me i was full and I no longer wanted ribs.... but... we ordered them so they showed up a minute or so later..... and even though I was full.... man these ribs were amazing. We only got three of them and gosh, you could taste the smoke on them....They weren't fall off the bone tender which some people like but me? I prefer tender but enough to stay on the bone so i can gnaw them off with my teeth.... they were really good. I'll go back again... after 2;00PM..... and order some ribs as an appetizer to eat while i wait on my Broasted Chicken.

I especially loved the open kitchen concept...it was neat to watch them prepare the line-up of meats! I loved reading the "testament" in the entryway. The story of Jimmie and Iris was so sweet, and I appreciated how their legacy is carried throughout the restaurant, especially in the sauce lineup. I ordered the two-meat combo with ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. I paired them with "Dixie Red" which was my fav! For sides, the platter came with a cornbread muffin and it was so good I ended up ordering a second (Oops). It had what tasted like a butter or honey butter drizzle and YIKES it was dangerously good. The employees were super friendly and helpful. One in particular greeted every single person coming in and leaving. Loved that. You just don't see that kind of service as often anymore. The restaurant itself was very clean, with plenty of seating available. Fun fact, they also have a food truck, which gives me hope since the location isn't super close to home. Maybe I'll catch them around town, or even bring them in for one of the employee events I help lead!

Sooo good - 5 stars!…read more I've wanted to check this place out for a few years. But unfortunately, I don't live close-by and the hours & days of operation are limited. But I finally made it. Three of us checked them out for a Friday lunch. It was definitely worth the trip to meet my Wisconsin buddies for some rockin' Q. This is a casual, order-up-front kind of place. Grab your beverage, pick your own spot, and they bring the food to your table. The meats are excellent. I grabbed a half pound of smoked sausage, a half pound of pastrami, and a half pound of beef brisket. My friends both ordered pork ribs. Everything was wonderful! Being a zero carb dude, I really appreciate that you can order meat by the pound (and the half pound). Thankfully, they don't force you to order plant based items. As zero carbohydrate carnivore eater, I didn't order any plant based sides whatsoever. But my friends got broccoli slaw and waffle corn bread (very clever) as sides. They loved their sides. Both of them topped things off with big Texas Brownies and a la mode French Vanilla Ice Cream. The brownies were giant and flavorful. They actually made the whole back dining area smell like chocolate. Finally, the service was excellent. The food came out fast & hot. And the owner popped out of the kitchen a few times to check on us and to chat. Nice guy. They have live music. But we came early and missed all of that...so I can't comment on the music scene. All-in-all, a great place, especially if you're a carnivore. Thumbs up! -Maxx

Excellent barbecue - 5 stars!…read more Three of us met for lunch, the first time trying STB for all of us. Initially the location was a little confusing. But we figured out, they're located in the northeast corner of the building. You enter the same door as Los Habaneros. They're in the former location of the bakery (and previously, the bagel shop). All 3 of us loved our food. The meats were excellent. The quality is obvious - you can taste the difference if you pay attention. I didn't eat any plant based stuff but my friends testified that the sandwiches were great and the specialty cocktails rocked! I also enjoyed a lot of the details like some incredibly wonderful sauces and little touches like decorative designs branded on top of the buns. The customer service was first class. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The prices seem very reasonable. It might be my imagination but the prices seem lower than comparable BBQ places. This was a welcome surprise. LOW CARB: It was easy to eat low carbohydrate carnivore style at Smokey Treats. Initially, I was a disappointed because there are only TWO(2) items on the menu that are meat only with no plant based sides or a bun or bread or a suspicious sugary sauce. I expected I'd have some headaches trying to eat all-meat. I was ready for a debate or pushback. I ordered both of the all-meat (mostly) plant-free menu items: Steer Bites and Pig Wings. (I think they're both technically appetizers). I thought I'd want more food afterwards but these 2 menu items were so filling, I was full & satisfied for lunch. (And they were really, really good.) The Steer Bites were cooked perfectly...super tender...with 2 sides sauces...chimichurri and a sugary BBQ sauce. The Pig Wings were great too. They were so tender, the meat literally fell off the bones. And they're a lot bigger than I thought. Nice! In addition to the food quality, the thing that really won me over is they're TOTALLY willing to sell meats a la carte...no problem whatsoever...no push back from our waitress whatsoever. I asked if they could just sell me a burger patty with no bun or sides - no problem. I asked them if I could buy brisket by the pound - no problem. Awesome! Smokey Treats is a great place and a nice addition to the Hudson food scene. The food is awesome. And they're different from the other BBQ I've tried in Hudson (I've tied them ALL). I'd go back again ANY time. Thanks for a great experience, Smokey Treats! -Maxx
