Very friendly folks. Laid-back atmosphere. Tons of merchandise. From antique decoration pieces to…read moreyard tools. Lots of historical articles- artifacts, jewelry.Too much to list. You just gotta see it. Suggest you allow plenty browsing time, you'll want to hang awhile for sure! A great shop and still growing.

Since I have thrown up my post I have been getting messages galore. Many of those messages are…read moredisheartening that members of the community were put into similar predicaments. So SMK is just going to go ahead and be transparent with the situation in regards to why we pulled our store from hometown shoppes since this deals with funds people had intended for our Non Profit Organization to go towards the local cats. On April 3rd the store owner ended up writing us a check for what we sold for a total of $236 dollars that we deposited into the SMK account. On April 18th we got notified by our bank that the check he wrote bounced after attempting to process several times. I contacted the owner letting him know that the check bounced, that we are quite upset and disheartened about it, and that the board will be taking a vote on if we would continue to have our shop at their location, and to give him an opportunity to make this right. When I spoke to him he asked me when did I deposit the check, I informed him right after we received it, and he then informed me that they just switched all of their money to a new bank account that if we come into the store tomorrow, April 19th, he will make it right and have the funds. Today on April 19th, my husband/board member ran into the shop with me on speaker phone to grab our inventory and the money. The shop owner once again said that he didn't have the money because they just switched banks to SOCU and he doesn't even have a debit card yet. He was surprised that the check bounced because he watched all payments go through and ours was the last one before he switched the funds, which differs from his questions on the day prior. We informed him the board voted to remove the shop and discontinue doing business together, he mentioned that's fine. He then proceeded to tell me that he will message me tomorrow on April 20th, for us to come back in yet again, for us to get the money from the bounced check. This whole situation so far has been a nightmare. This money was dependent on going to a colony of ferals next month as was its intended purpose. I am now out time, product, my own personal money that I invested into the product, the two months rent, the paint and wall repair we did, and money paid to the shop with the intent of donations because I made the mistake of entrusting our organization's fundraising inventory at Hometown Shoppes. For this I apologize for the bad judgement call, during my research I didn't come across any negative postings, so I had zero idea that this would be the outcome. Tomorrow, I will be running back up to the bank to grab the paperwork for the bounced check to post up, I always feel that proof is everything. Hopefully tomorrow he will have the funds that the public entrusted him with, but if I'm being honest I'm not feeling all that hopeful. -Jessie
