I cannot comment on the food side if things as I did not eat here. The bar service was fine and the prices in line with outer establishments in the area. There is ample outdoor seating although you will have to have whatever your tipple is in a plastic glass or pony pot. The view into the harbour is very good and if you are here long enough you will see a boat or two coming and going from the harbour. The inside is a very modern mix, very different from the exteriors look. There is ample indoor seating places as I would imagine that in the wet and cold months it is needed. I did glance at the menu and it is the standard gastro pub type of foods, so I am sure if you want to eat to soak up a little of the fluids you take on board you will most certainly find something to do the job. read more

This is a very nice Pub at the marina, lots of places inside and outside. Very freindly people, a quite large menu and the food is prepared freshly. They tell you that it takes a moment, when there are a lot of guests, because there's only one chef in the kitchen, which I find very good, it sets the correct expectations! The food isn't special, burgers overcooked on the two occasions I've been. Despite being a Brains house, the beer (Brains SA & Brains Rev James) had a funny twang to it last time I visited. The time before that it was nice. The time before that it tasted strange. A bit of a gamble. The atmosphere in it is similar to an airport or railway station pub - someone has 'inserted' a pub into another building, and it doesn't just sit right. If that makes any sense! On the plus side, if you're willing to chance the beer, or if you don't drink cask ale, on a nice day sitting outside on the Marina is really lovely, and the Pump House is rather convenient. Maybe not somewhere to come as a destination, but if you're passing and the sun's shining, worth a go. read more

A pretty spot. The food was pub grub, my salmon was a little overcooked but I wasn't expecting much. The 'well done' steak was charred black and not edible but an empty stomach doesn't care. Garlic bread was delicious and the pork ribs were on point (so I was told). The price reflected the quality. The Bar service was the fun part. I asked for a Kir Royale and was told that cocktails are not made on the premises. Amazing considering I was looking at a sign encouraging me to try their new Spring Cocktail. I said I'd try the advertised cocktail then. Oops...that sign was merely decoration - an advert for what would be possible in the future. So I asked for a mixture of crème de cassis and a glass of bubbly. No chance. I was told that it was illegal for the establishment to mix the drinks. But I could have two separate orders and then I could pour them into the same glass. At the risk of being arrested I obliged and made my own Kir Royale. read more

The Pump House - Pubs Near Me - Swansea, SWA

This is a modern pub in an old victorian pump house on the trendy quayside of Swansea. It's difficult to find by car and there's a small carpark next to it. If you can find the entrance you will be charged. Other car parks are some distance away and are very expensive. I met a group of 15 friends, acquaintances and people I didn't know there for lunch on Saturday lunchtime in May. We were sat on the upper floor, under the roof. We joined the party after some of them had ordered drinks and our waitress - surly - refused to get us drinks as 'a tab had already been opened for the table' - so several trips to the bar for drinks. She then refused to provide seperate bills for members of our party. Several of us requested this as no-one of us knew all the others. I went to the bar again and ordered meals for my partner and myself. The Manager wasn't available and no-one confessed to being in charge. Our meals arrived in reasonable time, they were reasonably priced, cold and uninspiring. Another trip to the bar produced a couple of passable dessserts. The first dishes of food ordered by the larger group at our table arrived a good threequarters of an hour after we had finished our desserts. The drinks prices were seriously expensive - I felt I was being ripped off. My lasting memory of this sad experience will be of being uncomfortably warm. The airconditioning wasn't working - broken they said - and the room temperature was about 85/90 degrees. The staff we spoke to said nothing could be done, there were no windows which could be opened and they refused to open a nearby fire escape door or relocate us downstairs. After we had eaten we went outside with our drinks for fresh air and spent an uncomfortable hour or so in the company of the local lager louts who seemed to enjoy the place enormously. read more

came here for a lunch one afternoon as we were walking through the marina. my dining partner had lasagne which was a micronuked affair, and I chose the "chef's pie" which was tear-inducingly bad, a haphazard mix of scrag ends of meat, gravy and sad peas and carrots which had been chucked in a ceramic pie dish, microwaved, and a piece of puff patry which hadn't been acquainted with the contents of the dish until about twenty seconds before it arrived at my table, placed on top. This place has seen better days all round, it has been going downhill for a long time now, but when Brains took it over they managed to lower the standard to a new depth. Its badly managed, dirty, grubby, expensive, and has probably got the worst Car Park in Britain. Initial impression wasn't great we'd booked in advance for our party of 6 but hadn't mentioned that my father in law is partially disabled and can't manage stairs we weren't aware that the venue had an upstairs and the staff didn't mention this when we booked. This presented a insurmountable problem for the stroppy front-of-house waitress who couldn't possibly swap our upstairs table for one of the 5 empty tables downstairs (because they're all booked). Eventually managed to persuade her to (very reluctantly) let us sit in the bar area. After that, however, things took a turn for the better. The food we ordered was very good; my Grills and More burger was one of the nicest I've had for a while. The rest of the staff were much more warm and friendly and actually seemed to care whether we were happy. As a Marina resident and Pumphouse regular I feel that certain points below need addressing. It is neither dirty, grubby nor badly managed (when he's there!). Occasionally, however, tables are not cleared, wiped and set up as promptly as they should be. The Marina as a whole IS expensive. Try living here. The public car park is not, in fact, anything to do with the pub and is operated through Swansea Council on a pay-and-display basis and policed by a firm from Stratford upon Avon. Some or all of this charge may be redeemed by Pumphouse customers against food or drink. It has also been completely resurfaced recently. As for the lager louts they are not, fortunately, home-grown. There is a tendency, especially in warm weather, for the Marina to be a magnet for those from elsewhere who " do wish to be beside the seaside" and treat it as their own little Blackpool/Sarfend/Barry Island..... I'm afraid I cannot comment on the food as, with my kitchen just over the swingbridge, I don't eat there. read more
