I like this pub because it's very clean and very large, with ample seating and no matter where you decide to sit, there will be a TV screen for you to view. What more could you ask from a sports bar? A betting machine you ask? Well it just so happens that they have a TAB section in the corner, complete with betting machines or a human who works for the TAB if you prefer to bet that way. Drinks and nibbles are pretty expensive here though, so you had better win your bets on the sports or at the casino next door.

It's big, it's clean, the range of beers and pub grub is extensive, and there are more TV screens then you can shake a stick at. You simply won't find many sports bars that are this plush and well appointed, and perhaps owing to Skycity's extensive sponsorship of Auckland teams, the place is simply littered with memorabilia from the Blues, the Warriors, the Breakers and the All Blacks. There are also certain perks coming here as a Breakers fan. Skycity sponsor the team, so the fans sometimes get free drinks when they come here to watch the away games. Not bad!!

We arrived in the middle of trivia night which was loads of fun even though we were mere spectators. Really good Pinot Gris and the garlic loaf filled us up. Went back a second time and watched cricket which as Americans was novel and intriguing trying to figure it out. Thanks Harry for explaining the rules and thanks Taylor for lively friendly service.

Found a quiet corner to dine solo. I ordered the Lamb Rump with garlic butter, which came with Bacon and Peas, and a side of Smashed Truffle Potatoes. This was absolutely delicious! The Lamb was cooked perfectly, melt in your mouth tender, well seasoned, with a nice crunchy skin. The Potatoes were satisfyingly crispy, mouthwateringly in a flavorful sauce and spices, featuring strong taste of true truffle. Garlicky peas with bacon was a wonderful combination. When I saw Sticky Date Pudding on the dessert menu, I just had to get it. This was served with butterscotch sauce, candied walnut, and ice cream. What an indulgent, sweet, mouthwatering masterpiece! The Sticky Date Pudding was chewy, moist, with notes of caramel and warm spices. Walnuts added a delightful nutty crunch. I poured the butterscotch sauce over both the Sticky Date Pudding and ice cream, which brought everything together beautifully. Service was good. Waitress was personable and everything came out in a timely manner. Such a wonderful meal here!

There were plenty free for my friends and I to use, which was convenient as we decided to have a bit of a pool competition! The bar itself was pretty good - there was a decent selection of wines, beers and spirits available. However whole they had a variety of cocktail options advertised, when my friend asked for a pina colada, the bartender actually had to Google how to make it. This was a pretty bizarre situation, but was also good for a bit of a laugh. On the whole I probably wouldn't be rushing back to Miss Q's, as the atmosphere was a bit seedy - as well as having pool tables, Miss Q's also has lots of pokies so attracts some pretty average patrons. Plus, as someone who isn't really in to sport, Miss Q's was never going to be a perfect match for me. That having been said, playing pool was really fun, and due to its casual atmosphere it is a great place to keep in mind if you and your friends just feel like getting a bit rowdy and can't be bothered heading all the way in to town!

I imagine the real Miss Q to be a smiling, buxom lady- the motherly type that you wouldn't want to piss off. She keeps everything clean and isn't afraid to smack you one if you get out of hand. The pub is a spacious sports bar with ample seating and more than a couple of pools tables. It has it's regulars slouched over the pokies or arched toward the TV screens. Some local band might belt out some pub anthems on a Wednesday or Thursday night. It also attracts a lot of attention from the younger groups leaving the near-by cinema or bowling alley mid week. Miss Q's is a pretty typical Kiwi pub where a dress code is vague at best and everyone should sing along to a Split Endz song. I waz temted 2 rite my revew lyk dis so its regurlarz cud reed it.
