This hotel is BEAT. We usually stay at the Hampton Inn, but due to availability stayed at this…read moreTru. As Hilton Honors members, I am shocked at the price they charged. The carpets in the hallway are ripped up and missing in several places to bare concrete. The toilet had to be flushed multiple times each use. It's not very clean, mirrors were streaky. The room (king) is so tiny and there is no where to open a suitcase let alone 2 of them. Hilton, come on... almost $200 for a room/hotel that felt like a 1970's days inn. (Days Inn.. you are better than this place!) Never again Hilton Tru!!! Hilton .. do better for your loyal Honors members .. clean up your act or charge what it is worth!!

The only downside was a strange chemical smell in the room, which was noticeable at first. Other than that, everything was comfortable, and the breakfast spread was excellent with plenty of options. I recently went here for the wedding of one of my girlfriends. The plantation is surrounded by…read morenothingness (tiny, tiny, tiny town + dismantled shacks). However, once you get to the plantation, you can't see any of that. The house itself is lovely, with a focus on a "country" theme that isn't too overpowering. Lots of old wood and lots of space for a party, including a wrap-around-style porch that doesn't wrap around. There is a lake in the back with a gazebo at the edge and a fountain of water jets out. The landscaping is rich and green. One note: Her wedding was an afternoon wedding in April and the outdoor wedding was HOT HOT HOT. The sun was also right in front of our eyes the whole time, meaning we had to squint a lot. If I were planning an outdoor wedding, I would try to go at the time the wedding is being planned, to prevent that. Overall, very nice.

The food was excellent (sanitation grade of 99), the staff very pleasant and efficient (continued to keep the food coming hot) ,bathrooms super clean! And the grounds were well manicured - just well kept! Such tranquil scenery to take in on the huge rocking chair front porch or underneath a large tree, sitting under the gazebo by the water or spreading a blanket in the lush green grass. This made for a good Memorial Day - thanks Rose Hill for a great 1st impression!

I'm always a bit cautious with lower-budget highway hotels, but this place delivered. The rooms are clean, the suites are large, the bed is comfortable, and everything worked as it should. I also have to mention the front desk. In a time when a sense of service seems to be slipping, it was genuinely refreshing to be welcomed by someone who was unmistakably North Carolina friendly. He clearly took pride in the property and seemed genuinely happy to help. Nice job all around. If I'm passing through again, I now know exactly where I'll stay in Rocky Mount.
