In my professional opinion, Wade Johnson is incompetent at best. I hired him to represent My wife…read moreand I for a construction insurance claim. We had hired a licensed, residential contractor to build us a new home. This contractor hired unlicensed, unqualified subcontractors, who completely destroyed the structure of our home. All parties eventually agreed to the claim, but not the cost of damages. An important note; I work for a national construction company with over 35 years of estimating and management experience, and had fully documented the claim. Mr. Johnson also didn't agree with the estimated costs, even though these costs were derived from bid proposals by local, reputable, licensed, home builders. Mr. Johnson used to work in construction back in the 80s and 90s, and evidently had not kept up with current construction costs. Without my consent, Mr. Johnson gave our blueprints to one of his other clients, a "contractor" who was also being sued for substandard work. This "contractor" told Mr. Johnson that he could redo my project for about half the cost of the other bids. I asked this "contractor" for a list of his licensed subcontractors. He told me that he doesn't have a list. The way he gets around it is by hiring people as employees and that way they don't have to be licensed. This is another trick in the industry used mainly by shoddy contractors, so I immediately threw out his bid. However, Mr Johnson, again without my permission, shared this bid with the opposing side. Another note, Mr. Johnson had worked in the past for the opposing law firm as an "expert witness". With all the breach of attorney/client privileges, the conflict of interest, and lack of current construction knowledge, we ultimately fired Mr. Johnson. We ended up consulting with another attorney, which made the claim process much easier.
