The gas prices are usually the lowest in town and you get a 5 cent discount for paying with cash. The staff members are very friendly and will often strike up a conversation with you. Being far from home, this is a nice touch. To make things even better, I put $10 of gas into my car to make it to Rapid City and I was given a voucher for a free car wash. Unexpected, but greatly appreciated it! Who knew a stop at a little gas station could leave you with a smile on your face.

The station has a convenience store, but I did not need to go inside. Instead, a quick fill up (17 gallons!) and I used their long stick squeegees to clear off some of the dead bugs from the windshield. Four stars - I'm a fan! The owners need to hire more staff. My recommendation is to wait until you get to Pierre for better options and prices.

Just off the highway facing a gorgeous lake we were both pleasantly surprised at the care its given in comparison to others we've stopped at. We even took note of the clean gas pumps as well. The employee greeted us kindly and the bathrooms were impeccably clean. The small store even smelled nice! I wasn't sure what scent it was but it was pleasant and calming. We didn't need to purchase anything at the time but I certainly wanted to because I appreciated it so much. Lil'feller does, indeed, have seating (as promised)…read more It also boasts a dark and dingy video-poker room (since it operates within the confines of South Dakota, wherein automated gambling is omnipresent). My friend and fellow traveler ventured a chicken-salad sandwich, which he deemed palatable, presenting all the basics: shredded chicken, mayonnaise, iceberg lettuce, and wheat bread. My house-brewed coffee, meanwhile, was more than palatable: it was downright good, which is a bit novel for a gas-station (though very much appreciated). But Lil'feller isn't just in Winner, it's a winner; and Winner itself isn't your ordinary town of twenty-five-hundred: it's the county-seat of both its own and the neighboring county. Lil'feller - at least in my limited experience - does justice to such a twin-seated town (even if one drops in, as I did, outside of its famous pheasant season).

So, we were about to start a longer drive and stopped at this Shell to get gas and prep. Usually gas station stops like that are ones you want to make quick and not mess around. However, the trip to this Shell is one I still remember, because of how awesome the attendant Sharyl was! With a huge smile on her face and all the friendliness in the world, she started our drive off the best it could have with how awesome she was. She even offered us paper towels to take with for our snacks. I specifically remember her saying how, "your mom isn't around right now so I'll take care of you like a mom would".
