5/20/25- Purchased a submersible pump on Amazon a little over six weeks ago.. The waterfall was not flowing properly and eventually was barely a trickle. Tried to do a return but it was " out of the return time window.. Kind of expensive $162 and can't even get it replaced-.. Called today and according to the rep. the program they use to calculate for a pond was incorrect.. Now we need a bigger pump! My big koi need the pump-. I bought the "Gardeneer Natural Enemy Scarecrow SOL-R Action Owl" as a gift for my parents, who have long had difficulty keeping ducks off of their dock. The owl did not work as expected, and there are regularly multiple ducks nearby. See photo below. I contacted Pond Guy and couldn't return it because it was outside of 90 days (bought near Christmas, but didn't get to try it until Memorial Day). I left a review on the website but it was never posted. They said negative reviews are put in quarantine until resolved. The folks were very nice and responsive. However, despite the fact I was very specific about my needs re size of connections the pump I got did not meet these specs. I needed to go to my local hardware store to buy connectors. After I did that, the pump and installation was perfect. No complaints re quality of the pump, price or their service. I had to cancel an order (geese disappeared just after I'd ordered swans to deter them). They responded immediately and graciously, canceling the order per my request. Given the many sites where it's impossible even to find out how to cancel an order, or they require you to get the order and then pay for shipping to return it, it's the best customer service I've had in a long time. read more

I would give them zero but it isn't an option. Do not use this company. I ordered a new pump and told them it was an emergency. Paid extra for 2 day shipping. They didn't send it and I had to call for several days speaking with people who said they couldn't tell me the status of my telephone order. When I finally spoke to a supervisor, all she would say was it was a "glitch". Their glitch has already cost me two of my beautiful fish. I asked to speak to the owner after "customer care" was not responsive and just kept telling me "good news we are shipping your item now and we won't charge you for two day shipping". I was told I could not be given the owners contact information. I kept insisting and was finally told he would call me, which of course he didn't. They have great products, but not so reasonably priced. Local supply companies carry similar chemicals for much cheaper. I have contacted them a couple times with questions, never receive a response. Also, don't pay for faster shipping, it all arrives in 7-10 days regardless. Wish they had a loyalty program, or gave promo codes to returning customers. No reward for being a loyal customer. They recommended that I add an aerator ($200) to my koi pond to improve the oxygen and clarity in my pond. After installing, I noticed that the water got worse and the koi became distressed. I tried calling their 800 number (crazy hold times) and email their "support team" twice. that was over two weeks ago. No reply, no nothing. No more Pond Guy for me! read more

I was a customer till I received my plants from them. They charged $22.00 and sent a plug that was only 1 in by 11/2 in high and barely 3 leaves. What a joke when I called and complained I got the brush off letter Only. I went last weekend and bought plants at the local pond store 5 of them all were in a 6x6 pot stood 14 in and taller and only cost $11.99. Run this is the biggest scam I have ever seen. read more

I live in Prescott Arizona. I have a waterfall with two levels that holds about 2000 gallons of water. I have struggled with Algae for two years and no one gave me advice that worked to control it. Buyer Beware Purchased two packages of Koi from the Pond Guy. I was told they had been quarantined and were healthy fish. Paid around $ 700 For them. I had an existing pond no new fish for over 10 years.Very Healthy. After the fish arrived my existing fish started getting sick. Two of my best Koi have died others are sick. my Koi guy told me that the new fish brought Parisites to the pond. I ordered plants on Tuesday April 28, 2020. I did receive an email confirmation however its now Friday May 1, 2020 and I have not received any additional information including an expected ship date, arrival date or tracking number. I called the 800 number and was on hold for exactly 16 minutes. When the operator answered, I was told the plants are being shipped from Ohio and they are not sure when the items will be shipped. I understand there could be a delay because of Covid19, however The Pond Guy, should have communicated these concerns when the order was placed or send an email stating they are currently delayed, as other companies do. Bought some KOI fish from them that are so shy they won't feed and stay hidden all the time. This is not due to predator concerns. What good are KOI fish in your pond if you can't feed or see them? Their products are sometimes great and sometimes not so great but their shipping is super slow. Even if you pay extra for express shipping it will take at least 5 days or more to get to you. Regular shipping can take up to three weeks. Don't expect anything quick from this company. read more

Ordered water lillies on Feb. 12. Said it takes 6 days to receive the order. Called a week later and was told the were shipped. Might be late because of bad weather. So I waited..called back to check to track my order. Then I was informed it wouldn't be shipped until April. They had no problem charging my card for the purchase and just slipped their mind not to inform me of the later shipping date.. The web sight says they would be shipped at the time of the order. I spent almost $60.00 for 22 snails that arrived wrapped in a wet paper towel. The instructions said they may take up to 5 days to "wake up". Well they were in eternal slumber and when I called the company they told me there was nothing they could do because I did not notify them in 24 hours. They have not offered to replace them or give me my money back. BUYER BEWARE!!!! I could have bought prettier snail shells at my local craft store. Unfortunately I needed live ones for my pond.
