We were greeted with a smile and Donna (owner) gave an overview of the nursery. I was amazed by the abundance of different variety Hosta's that were available from miniatures to large. There were so many varieties it was hard to choose what we wanted. All the colors, textures were amazing. The plants were healthy and hardy and organized as I strolled throughout all the paths looking for the perfect specimens. I was really memorized by the blue green leafed Hosta's. Since everything was damp from the recent rain, they had a pearl essence hue. What an amazing nursery and customer service. While I was picking out my finds Charles (CEO) was loading them on the golf cart to bring to the front for purchase. My partner and I chose 8 plants and we also ended up purchasing a statuary as well. After our purchase, Chuck (GM) took our items to the car and loaded them up using cardboard and burlap to protect the seats and carpet. I was passing through the neighborhood about a week ago with my buddies and saw Mr. Fidler out on…read morehis tractor. I waved to him and asked him if we could fish in the pond on his property. He gave us an enthusiastic yes. After he was done with his field work he came over to us and we all introduced ourselves and thanked him again. He told us all about the ecosystem of the pond. Mr. Fidler's knowledge of nursery, gardening, farming, fishing and all the different ecosystems really rang true that day and we definitely learned a few things. I never knew Mr. Fidler sold Christmas trees in the winter and also different trees, flowers, plants, etc. I now know where I'm going to buy my next apple tree. Mr. Fidler's kindness and generosity is unmatched by any of his competitors. Next winter during the Christmas season, my friends and I will definitely pay him a visit, not to fish, but to get a Fidler Christmas tree! Thanks again Mr. Fidler!

The Plant Witch first popped up on my social media feed shortly after it opened, and I immediately…read moreadded it to my "visit someday" list for whenever I happened to be in the area. As luck would have it, I was nearby for the City of Harrisburg's Ice & Fire Festival and realized the shop was only a short walk from the main festivities. I took that as a sign from the universe that I should probably stop in...and see about bringing home at least one new houseplant. #yolo I arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and found the shop well stocked, with the front door open and a welcoming sign on the sidewalk letting folks know the shop was open. Always a good sign when you're plant shopping. The moment I stepped inside, I loved the vibe. Crystals. Beautiful houseplants. Eclectic décor. Displays that were clearly mindfully curated instead of just being set up randomly. The shop felt welcoming, creative, and thoughtfully put together. I spent a good amount of time browsing...and browsing...and browsing some more. There were a lot of plants I wanted to bring home with me, but I also had to remind myself that my house only has so much room for plants. The prices felt reasonable, the plants looked incredibly healthy, and everything appeared to be very well cared for. The shop itself was bright, clean, and the owner was super pleasant. I had my eye on a Black ZZ plant for my collection, but I specifically wanted a smaller one so I could have the satisfaction of growing it from a baby plant into something bigger. There were a few Black ZZ plants in the shop, but they were all larger plants, which wasn't quite what I was looking for. I figured it was worth asking if there might be any smaller ones that I had missed. The owner said she didn't have any smaller ones available, but then immediately offered to split one of the larger plants and sell me a smaller portion on the spot. Talk about incredible customer service! She pulled out her supplies and did a mini repotting demonstration right there in the shop for me and a few other customers who happened to be there. It was honestly really cool watching my little plant baby be "born" into its own pot so I could take it home with me. I really appreciated her willingness to help me get exactly what I was looking for, and I was more than happy to support her small business in return. I couldn't be happier to check another wish-list plant off my list thanks to The Plant Witch. My houseplant collection appears to be entering a rapid growth phase...and I'm not entirely sure I'm in control anymore. I'll definitely be stopping back the next time I'm in the area. This shop has officially earned a spot on my regular rotation of places to visit when I'm in the mood to buy plants... which, if I'm being honest, is happening more and more often these days.
