Perfect spot for a unique meal experience in Grand Rapids. At The Pines you can try a variety of fresh options through their curated menu- share plates, entrees and you cannot forget to have a tapa or two from their 'First' or 'Second'.. especially the popovers that come with a savory & sweet spread on the side. This is a great spot for any occasion and there is always something new on the menu. Make sure to check out their Instagram! Before or after your delectable meal you can head downstairs to the cocktail lounge to try one of their drinks. The Pines offers a separate menu of drinks only available at the lounge. Dessert is also available at the cocktail lounge.

This was our first time at The Pines and it was great! We didn't have a reservation but got seated right away. The ambience was great (we were on the main floor) and all of the staff were super friendly. We had Christopher as our server and he was awesome!! I loved how unique the menu was and the different sections they had. We had tried the popovers, the twice fried potatoes, the chicken entree, and the apple turnover cake. Everything was phenomenal! We also got brought out a pre-dinner snack which was not expected and it was so good. We checked out the downstairs before we left and it was a super cool space! We definitely want to go back to hang out down there at some point. I highly recommend trying this spot out! Another great addition to the Grand Rapids area. We definitely will be back!

    Try the cocktails!

Enjoyed a date night on the upper floor. Food was delicious and spaced well to allow us to enjoy our time. The off menu peach dessert was a pleasant addition. Was a Friday night and restaurant was full of energy and customers, but we did not notice any noise or our neighbors. We were able to focus on each other. Staff was friendly and engaging, offering suggestions and asking for feedback. We started in the speak easy downstairs with a cocktail and enjoyed the atmosphere and selection. A great way to start our evening. Tab was transferred without issue and combined with our final bill. Love the use of local, fresh ingredients. Our second time in and this will be a regular stop for us every time we are in town!

We had our Anniversary dinner here in August. Literally one of the BEST meals I have ever had! From the wine to appetizers to our meal!! We sat just far enough from people we could have a conversation. Our waitress was amazing and helped us make the best decisions. Oh oh and let's not forget the popovers!! I have not had these since the Sawmill served them... AAAAMMMAZING!

Food was great, our server Katie was awesome, and the speak easy downstairs was an added bonus! The building was well done with the restoration utilizing every inch!

This place is a gem. The food is excellent, ambience just as good. The space is lovely. Service was also very good; everyone we encountered aimed to please. A few observations- the main level is a fun space open to the kitchen. It is therefore a bit loud, but we didn't mind at all. If you want a quieter setting, you could ask to be seated upstairs. Restrooms were up and downstairs, not on the main (walk-in) level. The cocktails were both creative and delicious. Try them. The food will satisfy all your "foodie" friends. Nice selection, fresh ingredients, and delicious preparation. The price point is fair and reasonable for the high quality product. In the Twin Cities you'd pay quite a bit more for the same food. Overall we had an exceptional experience and plan to go back often.

I don't know why this fabulous restaurant does not come up on a "restaurant" search in Grand Rapids.

I loved the water pitcher, because the four of us were all at least a little hungover so we were going through the water so quickly. I grabbed a lavender oat latte, which was good, but I didn't end up drinking some of it because of my tummy :/ Jo got a chai, which was so good and I wished I got that. The flavor was so yummy and for some reason the spices seemed like they were good for my tum. For food I got the Kremer crepe. It was really good! Truly give me a crepe and I'll be happy because they feel like such a special treat. Lottie got an acai bowl which looked so good, and they said was super yummy. Jo got another crepe, but had ham, so I didn't try. Oh! and I loved the little baby salad that came with my crepe. It was literally just lettuce and a raspberry vinaigrette, but it was so yummy and exactly what I needed at that moment. Felt like it was fresh from a garden. The food took a second to come out, but I think they were understaffed and they had such a tiny kitchen. The servers were very upfront about timing, so we were honestly expecting food to take longer than it did. Happy surprise :) Overall, it was a very cute little place. I definitely would love to go back some time when I am not hungover so I get the full experience.

Nice menu and as a whole for a rural MN place it is pretty good. Salad bar is definitely a step above the typical place like this that only has iceberg lettuce, croutons, Bac-os, cheese, cherry tomatoes and carrot shavings with french and ranch for dressings. As a whole, a step above the others in its food genre. For that I'll give it 4 stars. But if your arteries are feeling healthy and you want a good old fashioned greasy meat sandwich have I got the 5 star recommendation for you. The ribeye steak sandwich. Might be sacrilegious to put a nice steak on bread, BUT.... Freshly cut and grilled ribeye, toasted bread and lots of butter. Do you need anything more? A good beer to wash it down? Sure. But that's it. I can't get away from this every time we go through here. It is simply fantastic. Again, juicy steak, butter, toasted bread and more butter. Wow. Comes with fries I think. I don't really care what it comes with actually. Probably will contribute to my early death from heart disease. But oh well. Life can't be all salads and smoothies.

Salad bar was adequate but not what it used to be. The cheese steak soup was outstanding. I…read moreshould have just gotten the soup and salad bar but came to try the chicken dinner special. Broasted too long, dust for a crust and dry meat with little to no seasoning. Three people in our group got it and nobody ate a second piece. Mashed potatoes were instant, which was a let down because how hard is it to boil a potato? Roll on the plate was nice to see but there was no butter. Walleye bites was the other order and they were overcooked, dry and bland. Color of the batter gave away the age of the oil; dark and old. Service was so so, nobody asked how the food was and when paying the bill there was no checking to see how the meal was or a thanks, see you next time etc. Heard good things about the chicken, thought we'd try it, glad we did because I don't have to go for the Friday fish fry now. Sorry but I cannot see trying this again.
