The server clearly took advantage of both our guest and me. He repeatedly poured wine without properly confirming quantities, later claiming that we consumed four full bottles. This makes no sense -- he came to our table only four times and poured a total of seven glasses, yet when the bill arrived, we were charged for sixteen glasses. The discrepancy was shocking and extremely disappointing. The food was equally underwhelming. The scallop dish -- described as delicate with corn -- arrived drowning in oil, which completely overwhelmed the plate and made it unappetizing. The oysters were the best part of the meal, but even they were poorly executed and difficult to properly enjoy due to shell fragments. Overall, the experience was poor, largely due to a server who we feel took advantage of us. It left a very disappointing impression. I would fire the server as that's just wrong!!! read more

TMT table is an all virtual show where the audience is an active participant of the show. There were 5 acts-5 meal courses, each served ready to partake after each act and it was delicious. A great historic hotel, its location is the main attraction for me. You are paying for the old glamour but is not a truly five star hotel. Dirty carpets, at The Rotunda the table covers were dirty, scratches in the wall covers. When we got to the room there were not one detail like other hotels you expected some sweets or cookies, nothing. The water provided was a regular Polar water bottle. I have to say the staff from the front desk, bar, elevators, Perrine and front doors were absolutely fantastic. Stayed at hotel. Wanted a restful experience. Hotel did not notify of construction. Was woken to no stop drilling and hammering outside of window on wall. Did not stop and endured multiple hours. Hotel gave no notice prior or at check in. Was not able to sleep, rest or get a moment of silence. Worst experience ever. Lack of notification or accommodation demonstrates a true lack of caring for your guests. Take rooms off line if patrons will not be able to rest or sleep. That is the basic expectation of hotel. Response that it is a city project being done at hotel, demonstrates a lack of coordination by your onsite management team and a lack of concern for guests. Worst hotel stay ever. read more

Great location and an old-school feel of the greater days 100 years ago. They still have elevator attendants. The fixtures are amazing. The rooms are nice and spacious and housekeeping gives you all the little extra touches. Alright, I don't often get to stay at NY hotels since rent itself is high enough, but since that's no longer a thing... time to try out some NY hotels that I've been long curious about! The place is gorgeously historic (albeit a little dated, but I do love that old timey feel), and lavishly appointed. While our room was small (welcome to NY), the personal touches were nothing I've ever seen. I leave a pair of glasses on the table? Turndown service leaves me clothes to wipe my glasses with. Slippers are way fluffier than other places I've stayed. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but all the aminities, bath salts for soaking, little tub basket to hold your Champaign while taking a bubble bath... the list goes on. The elevator staff and valet are also incredibly nice and friendly. I think my summary is that this place is just... nice. Everything is done to help make your day just a little easier and smoother. I can definitely appreciate that, at the same time the price is definitely on the higher side. But if we have the opportunity to stay again (given work trips!) I will look forward to coming back! read more

After noting the property recently won the coveted Forbes 5-star award for 2024, and seeing all the perks offered by booking through AMEX, I decided to book this for a mother-daughter trip to NY. The location is perfect, next to Central Park and the Subway along 5th Avenue, and offered a warm and welcoming home base for our week long stay. We were excited to learn of the (almost) 100 years of history and were charmed by the warm and friendly staff throughout our stay. Our needs (even the unexpressed ones) were anticipated and we simply did not want to leave. It is worth it to book the guestrooms facing Central Park! We especially enjoyed the traditional elevators and the elevator attendants, which make it a quintessential classic NY experience! Be sure to take advantage of the helpful concierge team - they steered us in the right directon for anything from coffee, museums, restaurants, bars and entertainment. We are grateful for this extraordinary team of professionals who work here, and couldn't have imagined a more perfect stay in NY. The hotel is great for weddings and corporate groups, the ballroom is exquisite! Rooms are super clean and housekeeping comes 2-3 times a day. Stayed at the Pierre for 3 days after my husband's surgery during COVID-19 era in November 2020. Loved everything about the hotel. The deluxe city view room was a bit small and not as bright, so we upgraded to a park view and absolutely loved it. Most of the amenities were not available due to the pandemic, but all we needed was a comfortable COVID-free bed which we got and more. If we ever have visitors from out of town, I'm booking them a room at Pierre. PS. We live in Manhattan but husband was advised against walking up stairs after the surgery. We could have gone home after the first night, but decided to make it a staycation. read more

We stayed at the Hotel for 4 nights. Not a Luxury Hotel. More like upscale Bed and Breakfast. Can not be compared with Mondarin Oriental or Ritz or Four Seasons. The Radiator Heater was making terrible noise every night waking us up constantly. We were waiting for 2 hours to get a coffee machine setup in the room. The Breakfast has limited options and restaurant is understaffed. Sometimes you need to wait 20-30 min to be seated. Waiters are not pleasant. The Pierre Hotel could be one of NYC's finest--great location, lovely property--but the front desk and management's utter refusal to fix guest problems ruin it. Two stays, two disasters. March: a week of cold showers despite multiple calls; management just talked, never acted. April: booked for three via ADP/Expedia, got a king bed and non-pullout couch. After endless arguments, management wouldn't waive a $350 fee for an extra bed, blaming everyone but themselves. They don't care about guests--just excuses. Elevator and room service staff are great, but the front desk? Zero stars. I'm taking my May and July bookings to The Plaza. read more

We were on the 38th floor and had a view of Central Park. Our room was very clean and very comfortable. Our housekeeper was so kind and sweet. The turndown service was a great added touch. The hotel restaurant is an added bonus. The waiters and staff are great. We also had room service one night. The waiter that brought us room service set up the table, poured our drinks and set up the food. It was perfect. This hotel is in one of the best and most convenient spots in NYC. 4.5 stars. Perfect location across of Central Park, near Madison & 5th Avenue so great for shopping. A short taxi ride to Broadway and Timesquare, complimentary as hotel guests within a certain distance so no complaints there. Helpful staff, ideal location and wonderful suites. I love the old luxe of this hotel and there is definitely a homelier feel to it. My husband was here last year during winter when the park was covered in snow, so I decided Spring would be ideal for vacation and sure enough, everything went better than expected. I was debating between this hotel and the Ritz. I take issue with having to call for water bottles. And in the mornings, Coffee/tea and pastries are offered at the lobby between certain hours. I like to roll out of bed, make coffee and relax in my robe. Or make a second cup of good coffee before dinner as I'm adjusting to the time difference. Well I can't do that downstairs so we ended up ordering cappuccinos nearby. And because of my caffeine and water addictions, I cannot give this 5 stars because I found that to be an inconvenience. I came to The Pierre for a wedding! It's small for the number of people who were there, around 400, so it definitely felt cramped, but that's not their fault. It's a very luxurious and glamorous venue with a Venetian vibe to it. I was mesmerized by the ceiling and wall art the whole time! Waiters were flexible with last-minute changes to seating and serving very stuffy guests. If you're going for a showy, flashy type of party (or if you're marrying someone rich!), The Pierre could make sense for you. The wedding took place across three small rooms for the cocktail hour, then the reception (with dozens of people standing in the back due to lack of space!), and then dinner in the ballroom. It was fun to explore from room to room. FYI, take a light cardigan, as certain parts were chilly. I just wish they had more bathrooms and that their valet parking was more affordable! It's insanely expensive for just a few hours. The wedding started at 6pm and was still going when I left at 1am. They held it down for us! Overall, it was a lovely time and I'm glad I went. Beautiful, gorgeous hotel settled in Manhattan. Right across from Central Park it's a beautiful hotel with a famous landmark right next to it. Known for its French influenced decor the hotel was absolutely magnificent. Location- 2 East 61st Street, Manhattan, New York City, United States. Just look for the fancy hotel little couple of feet across Central Park. Interior- French inspired marble white with black lining flooring. Chandeliers with crystals and light blue sky roofs at the rotunda with balconies that swirl to the top. The interior is luxurious and fancy. It's more of a quiet, romantic hotel than a social hangout one. The outside on the building rooftop looks like an old French chateau. The rooms very spacious with comfy bedding, the bathroom was spacious with marbled flooring and a stand up shower. Everything was beautiful and clean with all the necessities filled soap, toothbrush, cotton swabs etc. Again, French inspired decor. Service- everyone was super friendly. They made it a point to remember your name and they even brought us an anniversary cake in the room. Always helpful with directions and giving advice on tours and broadway shows. Came here for afternoon tea a while back. There was a groupon deal so decided to check this place out, was deciding between the Ritz and here but the food here looked yummier. We got seated and were served a choice of tea pretty quickly. Then, we ordered our food and waited for the food to arrive. The vessel that carried the food was really pretty. I really liked how everything was bite sized and there was alot of variety with the food, from both savory and sweet. The food was cooked well, the sandwiches were tasty and the dessert was moist and just the right amount of sweetness. The price was on the higher side but it was a nice occasional treat to have an afternoon with friends. read more

I see some people complaining this is an old school NYC 5* hotel if you're looking for sultry and dim lit modern hotels that smell like an airport lounge- this isnt it.There are plenty of other options that fit the bill. This hotel is perfect the service was excellent our room was always super tidy form housekeeping and the doormen and all of the staff including the elevator attendants remembered us and treated us so well. The hotel bars are amazing and Perrine was perfect from breakfast to after dinner drinks with friends! The other bar with the Pianist is fab with great service. We had an absolutely wonderful stay and will be back. Also the person that said the bars were empty must have gone in like July and Aug where the WHOLE city is half empty! I came here for lunch for Restaurant Week and I wasn't that impressed. The service was great. The waiter made good conversation, always made sure we were taken care of and was very attentive. The restaurant was beautiful and the bathrooms were stunning. My fiancee enjoyed his whole meal and said he would go there again just for the Apple Tart dessert. As for my meal, I had the 'Roasted Butternut Squash Soup' for my appetizer which was delicious and my favorite part of the meal. For my entree, I had the 'Sauteed Mushrooms' entree which was mushroom bisque and pumpkin gnocchi and while I love mushrooms and pumpkin, I think I learned I'm not a gnocchi fan. I wasn't the biggest fan of this dish. Lastly for dessert, I had the 'Dairy Free Panna Cotta'. I never had Panna Cotta before so this was a gamble. I believe it came with grapefruit sorbet on top which was delicious as well as all the fresh fruit on it. The Panna Cotta itself was just okay. It was kind of tasted like a weird cheesecake in a way. Most 5 star reviews are from folks who came for brunch or ate here. This one comes based on the stay. All deducted points are due to the stupid concept of imposing a large resort fee onto guests. Seriously ... I kept looking out into the street wondering where the beach cabanas were and when the towel leavers would come out and set up the beach chair. Instead, I realized that the fee was for wifi and bottled water. And a newspaper which never came. Shit I could get for free at a $150 Holiday Inn Express or Fairfield by Marriott. When a luxury hotel nickles and dimes their guests over having a pen and paper in the room while charging 5 star prices for ... lets be honest ... what is a 4 star room, they should expect a review to call bullshit on them. You want to charge me a resort fee in Nice, France where uniformed Cabana attendants give me suntan lotion and freshly laundered towels ... great. You want to charge me a resort fee in NYC for wifi and generic bottled water, here's your fucking two stars. Enjoy. The rooms ... nice. Not The Ritz, St. Regis or even the semi-shitty Plaza. Probably would put them on the level of a nice Autograph Collection Marriott or Kimpton. Nothing special but not terrible. The staff here ... friendly to apathetic. Would I stay here again? The rooms are beautifully maintained, clean and spacious with nice bath products and for being on the upper East side, the vibe is warm, friendly and unpretentious.
