Went into the shop while I was visiting Morehead. Asked for a small ampersand on my thumb. Mike,…read morethe shop owner, decided this would be a great piece for the apprentice and assured me that he wouldn't allow the apprentice to tattoo unless he had the utmost faith in him. I agreed, because I'm heavily tattooed and I think apprentices should get their chance to work on real customers. I regret allowing that to happen. We had to move the stencil six times. When he got to work, he couldn't follow the stencil. Eventually, we had to bring another artist in to try and fix his mistakes. It didn't look great. The healing process was terrible. I've never had such trouble with a tattoo. Most of the ink fell out and it doesn't even resemble an ampersand. It actually looks like I've got a prison tattoo on my HAND. Or something some teenager did with one of those beginner tattoo kits. Then the apprentice charged me $40 when Mike had previously quoted me $20. I felt bad for him too, because he tried so hard, so I gave him another $20. But this is not acceptable work. I would love to have my money back, especially now that my hand is permanently marred because of a serious lack of judgment on Mike's part. I wanted to write Mike directly before I left a public review, but the shop has no website or contact info so far as I can see. Anyway, if I were you, I would stay away from this shop or, at the very least, I wouldn't let the apprentice tattoo me.

I take my body modifications and my artist choice VERY SERIOUSLY. I got nipple piercings not even ten minutes ago, and I just had to leave a review. Mic was very patient and empathetic toward my nervousness. Mic helped me maintain my breathing, answered all my questions, explained the procedure to me thoroughly, and was very friendly all while being 100% sterile (clean) in his work and maintaining eye contact at all times (besides when he obviously needed to do otherwise to make sure the piercings were straight). My wife & I both decided noone else will ink us. He has one of the cleanest, sanitary shops I've seen & is a true artist. THEY ARE NOT a biker that bought a kit from e-bay & uses a hot dog steamer to sterilize. TRUE artist. This is what shops should be.
