So I've had this DSLR in my back closet for a year now and I realized a couple of things. Adult learning styles vary. I loved trying to do it on my own but it just wasn't connecting. I moved to NC recently and one commitment I made to myself was to get the camera out of the closet and into my new world. I like classes and found the Photo Classroom. I really was drawn in by the website they have, the pricing and the myriad of classes they offer. I plunged in and took the DSLR Bootcamp. I was not disappointed! Tom is a master. The great thing is that the guys that make up the Photo Classroom teach you the same techniques they use as professionals. It was zero sales, all teaching from the love of their craft. Tom is so patient. I mean, come on, he must have gotten these same questions so many times but you would never know it. He kept the class on pace and we had plenty of time for hands on experimenting and questions. I loved my experience with Photo Classroom. I will for sure be taking more in the future! read more

I attended the four hour, in-person digital photography boot camp and it was great! The class was exactly what I was looking for and went over the basics of digital photography. The instructor was very helpful and walked around the class to assist while also providing clear, verbal instructions. Additionally, he provided a handout that made the class very easy to follow along with and was great for taking notes. The exercises the instructor had us do during the class were practical and helpful and really helped with understanding the concepts he was teaching. I had searched for photography classes in my area and was having a difficult time finding one. I am so happy I was able to find this class and it was well worth the hour and a half drive for me. I will definitely be looking at taking another class with The Photo Classroom in the future and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to learn more about photography and improve their skills! read more

I've been practicing film or digital photography as a hobby for almost 20 years, but only recently decided to get more serious about learning the technical aspects of modern higher-end digital photography. When I heard about the photo classroom I didn't really know what to expect, but I do remember being a bit worried that it would all be geared for total beginners and I wouldn't learn anything new. Nine classes later, I can say with confidence that the instructors at the photo classroom do an excellent job of teaching to all levels of experience and to many different types of learners (visual learners, auditory learners, hands-on learners, etc). On top of that, I've been amazed by the affordability of every class. I've definitely gotten way more than my money's worth out of each class. I cannot recommend the photo classroom strongly enough to anyone who wants to learn more about the art and techniques of modern digital photography! read more

I have been taking classes here for about 3 years now. I love taking classes with these guys/gals. Brian and his instructors are always professional and very helpful. The group in itself is awesome. If I ever need help with something, there are a plethora of folks that have been in the business for many years that are willing to help. I even use The Photo Classroom to coach my students on beginning photography for their business start ups. The classes are inexpensive compared to the knowledge you obtain. Just being in the room with all the knowledge sitting around you is very exciting. Great class locations if you live around the Pineville area, but well worth the travel if you are not. The online classes are great if you can't make the trip. I highly recommend The Photo Classroom. Be sure to ask Brian about his "internship program" when you attend your first class. read more

Brian is the absolute best for teaching photography skills. The Bootcamp was fantastic and the Next Level 1 has immediately improved my work. I am now getting better quality images IN THE CAMERA which is significantly reducing the amount of editing required. Brian started with film and has been part of the digital revolution since the beginning. He takes over 150,000 images each year. You won't find a photographer doing this much work that also invests the time into instruction. His passion is to enable you to make better images and enjoy your photography. My sole focus is bird photography. He has provided specific knowledge to really up my game. He has also shown me how to get the full capabilities out of my current rig (Sony RX10 IV) to avoid naively spending $7 - 10,000 on new equipment. He wins prizes with modest gear expertly operated. I am not new to "the love of taking photos" but I am new to photography. My husband passed drown his camera because just I believed, he believes that I can learn to be a great photographer. I tried learning on YouTube but I am a hands on learner. You can't ask YouTube questions. And I had questions. I took the Digital Photography Bootcamp and DID NOT have to ask one question because they covered so much! It wasn't rushed and I felt that the instructors really wanted me to get it! I walked away feeling excited and more confident in starting photography. I will retake the boot camp again just for clarity. I didn't master it that quick. But this school is so awesome that I can do a retake free! I'm looking forward to more classes so I can become a master at photography! read more

Brian Osborne is a great teacher and world-class photographer. He makes learning about DSLR and mirrorless cameras very understandable. His classes include a wealth of information to take away from the class that you can refer to over and over. And speaking of over and over, any class you've taken can be re-taken for free! This is a great thing because over time you forget the intricasies of using your camera and all of the deep dive things you can do with it to take great pictures. So going back and taking classes again is extremely helpful. I can't recommend The Photo Classroom hightly enough - you really need to check it out if you're serious about becoming a competent photographer. read more

My daughter and I took the DSLR Bootcamp class. Our instructor, Tom, was great to listen to and asked us questions throughout to make sure we were engaged. Liked how the class was small enough for one-on-one attention. He went around and tested that everyone was on task and figuring things out, because people attended with different brands and models of cameras. I also liked how he used technology to demonstrate his points clearly. I am a visual learner and so this helped drive home the points. Most helpful were the accessories tips and how to save money purchasing them. (They don't get any kickbacks, just what they recommend based on experience.) read more

I just attended the Adobe Lightroom all day class. For newcomers and moderate experienced user of Lightroom I recommend this course highly. The practical guidance, training, and information from the instructors and from more experienced classmates in attendance is extraordinary. Learning in a "no judgment" environment just can't be beat. The class also offers every attendee opportunity to forge new relationships and network for photography support. Never used Adobe Lightroom? No problem. Using Lightroom but self taught? No problem. The depth and breadth of knowledge presented provides learning for all levels of users. read more

Every class from The Photo Classroom is delivered by capable, caring, responsive, and engaging instructors. When the pandemic was closing things, The Photo Classroom switched to educating photographers virtually. I was very pleased when I took my first virtual class and saw how the instructors still engaged and encouraged participation from the students. The transition was seamless to me. I still have the same interaction as I did in the in-person classes but now I don't have to drive to class! I have taken over ten classes now virtually and I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to learn more about their equipment! read more

I loved this class and they were very good instructors who did a great job explaining the camera and made it easy to understand. Felt comfortable asking questions and they were glad to answer them to make sure we knew the material being covered. Loved how they came by to check out our cameras to make sure we did it right. Really liked how they did practice shots so we understood what we learned and could see the results. Two more great outings with this group, Fall Waterfalls and The Milky Way. As always, everything went off without a hitch except for a couple of surprises from Mother Nature. The instruction, as always is priceless. The accommodations, travel, and food...all included were all excellent. I bid on The Photo Classroom at a silent auction and won. I chose a one-on-one session to learn file management, and for advice on equipment. Brian was knowledgeable and got me on the right track! I signed up for DSLR Boot Camp, Flash, and for Next Level Part 1 (Editing with Photoshop Elements.) Brian has led each class I've taken, and has a co-instructor to back him up.The classes are well paced, with practice using your own camera, and plenty of Q and A. Very well organized class with materials, structure and visual enlarged screen to follow along. Instructor was versed in all types of cameras to assist with specific settings on everyone's camera - which was Very Helpful. Engaging - wanting the participants to practice after he taught something to make sure we understood it on our camera. I learned a lot and really appreciate the ability to repeat the class for free if I wanted to refresh the information in future. I've been a student of The Photo Classroom for probably 10 years. Continuing to learn all the time. But what this review is about is the "virtual" classes. If you don't think that photography can be taught long distance, you'd be wrong. I've taken several classes from the comfort of home, and they way they Brian teaches them is just as engaging as in person. This class was wonderful. Very well-organized and complete. The teachers were extremely experienced and did a good job of explaining and demonstrating some very complex concepts. I definitely feel like I will need to practice a lot more on my own, but the bootcamp gave me the tools to do that. I've taken 2 classes so far with The Photo Classroom and I have been impressed each time! The class structure is great - you get a chance to meet other photographers in various skill levels and then both instructors I had were amazing. They are engaging and so excited about sharing their wisdom and experience with students.
