It's hard to find a great Phillycheesesteak outside of Philly. Being from the north I know what it should taste like. This place is amazing! The food is delicious, tastes like I'm in Philly. You can get cheese wiz or sub it for cooper sharp or another cheese. Service isn't fast, so if you're in rush order ahead. The app has a service charge just an fyi. Just call ahead or walk in. TV's going with music videos have been on during my 2 visits here - which is pretty awesome because I can't tell ya when I last watched a music video, especially ones from my childhood. OK, back to the food --- both hubs and I ordered the Philly Special which is the standard cheesesteak sandwich. Their standard version comes with Cheese Whiz which I opt for replacing it with Provolone cheese instead. You can also add mushrooms and peppers to yours if you like or remove the standard onions that comes with it. The hoagies that these come on are so freaking soft and fresh! Walking in, it's definitely Phllly themed with all the sports and other memorabilia. So don't be offended if you're a non Philly native...lol. There are TVs running and music playing in the background so it sets a cool vibe. I got the namesake "The Philly Special", which is ribeye and onions with cheese. Update: They increased prices again. A Philly Special is now $16 plus tax, plus they charge you an extra surcharge for using a debit/credit card, higher than the typical 3%. At about $20.00 a sandwich (I ordered 3), plus giving them a tip (was above that), it is not worth the money. Places that have to distinguish a surcharge for credit purchases (most people use plastic, not cash) need to realize that it discourages customers. You would think at $16 a sandwich that the 3% credit fees were included in the price increase. I believe in supporting local businesses, but to keep raising prices in the first year or so, and then charging a credit card fee on top, plus a prompt for giving a tip - they are pricing themselves out of the sandwich market in Land O Lakes. $60+ dollars for 3 sandwiches is insane. My family does not care about an Amoroso roll, or if it is authentic down to every single detail - they just want a decent tasty sandwich. I am sure that using authentic ingredients drives the price. I do not know their food cost percentage or operating costs, but I do know that the price has dictated that we will not continue returning. We can't justify it at the current costs. I wish them well, but sadly they have lost out on our repeated business with what they are now charging. Customers are only willing to absorb so much in price increases. read more

I've passed by The Philly Special numerous times and finally decided to give it a try yesterday. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly, which set the tone for a great experience. The menu is impressive, offering everything from Philly Steaks and Chicken Wings (boneless options too) to fries and Philly Egg Rolls. I decided to try the Philly Steak Egg Rolls, which came with three rolls and a side of sauce. Oh. My. Goodness. They were amazing! So amazing, in fact, that I went back again today just to order more. As someone who lived in Philadelphia (2nd and Girard) for a while, I can confidently say these are some of the best Philly Steak Egg Rolls I've ever had--totally on par with the quality you'd find in Philly. I've been interested in this place long before coming as the owner posted on Facebook how they were thinking of opening a shop in Land O Lakes and were seeking input. I happened to comment that I hoped they would put in some good seating. So on our first visit I was pleased to see it was a nice little place, with plenty of seating and even some outside. They have a number of TVs on the wall playing music videos which was nice. Clearly a lot of thought went into the overall décor and not just tossing in cheap tables with a few chairs. The menu has a number of options for cheesesteaks, along with wings, cheesesteak egg rolls, fries and onion rings. No soda fountain, so soft drinks (Coke products) are in a bottle and I was surprised to see they also sell some bottled beer too. Hand spun milkshakes were also on the menu. For out first visit we kept it simple and ordered cheesesteaks, and fries with cheese and a side of white cheese sauce. We dinned in and enjoyed watching the music videos while waiting for our food. Our cheesesteaks arrive nice and hot and we were surprised to see how large they were and jammed packed with meat, oozing cheese and the right amount of onions. Everything was delicious, meat, cheese, onion and bread. The fries are the crinkly type, they were good and the cheese sauce was good, I'm just not a crinkly fry person. The wait staff were excellent! Friendly, clarifying the order, prompt delivery of food and continued to walk the dining area to ensure the place was clean. We will certainly be back and glad they are in town and opened for business. My thanks to the owner for putting in a decent dinning area and serving some great tasting food!! Tried The Philly Special today for the first time and it was really good! I had the Philly special sandwich, they load it up with meat! And the grilled onions and cheese sauce were so good. The sandwich is definitely large enough to split between two people. I tried the cheese fries, cheese sauce on the side bc the order was take out. We've been here a handful of times usually it takes me at least 3 visits if I'm feeling a place to give a review. Ironically and unknowingly we met the male counterpart to the owner of this amazing establishment. I graciously accepted two flavors for 3 of us to share and these were a delightful treat. Although our cashier thought we were waiting for our order to go as she thought we were in a rush I told her no we were actually dining in. We probably waited another 10 minutes and our food was ready. My son and I felt the fries were a bit salty but hubby thought they were perfect. Nevertheless the fries are good! My sandwich did not disappoint but I will definitely build my own next time. We ate and watched many to go and call in orders come in and out. As well as an older couple come in wanting to dine in but realized they were so close to closing time they decided to take their food to go. The cashier offered them water ice as well as she knew their food order would take a bit. They had never had it either but I recommended the mango. I had the cherry and mango but the cherry was too sweet for me but delicious and of course our 5 year old loved it. The mango was refreshing and light. They went with it and thanked me for the recommendation. The place is not big but I highly recommended to dine in only because the food is fresh! Nice and hot when it comes to the table. I understand eating in the comfort of your home and the food will probably still be fresh and hot if you live within 10-15 minutes. Great sports bar vibe in this place. Service was great and fast. Having been to Pat's, Geno's, Jim's, etc in Philly I think this holds true to that style. (Allow me to insert I'm from the south) To even include Cheeze Whiz. Firstly they have an awesome selection of drinks, energy drinks, even some alcoholic drinks like hard ice tea. Plus they serve coke, so extra points right there. The size of this Phillysteak was huge.
