The branch is located close to one of the enterances of the mall, it is also close to stores such as Superdrug. It's unusual rectangular shape, makes it feel like a box and when the seating is in use, the store can be quite a squeeze to get in so can feel quite cramped - which makes the overall feel of the store a lot poorer. I ordered my usual Venti ColdBrew Latte with Vanilla Syrup, the quality was okay however I did have to request extra vanilla syrup as it appeared they had forgot it when preparing my beverage. The staff here did seem quite nice, but confusingly they did have to check regarding the size of my drink, despite it being clearly stated on the ticket printed after I ordered my order on the mobile app - It is good however that like most branches now this store supports Mobile order and pay. A below average branch of Starbucks, yet with good staff and with one of the only branches I saw in Wolverhampton center during my time in the West Midlands city after attending Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Wolves earlier that day - A two-star rating is warranted.

That was the case here, hence the 5***** I had a meeting over the other side of the town centre and once it had finished at 12.30 I fancied lunch before heading back. I checked Yelp and up came Zuri as an option. It was a 10 minute walk and so given it was a bright, sunny day off I set. It's easy to find with Google Maps. It was about 3/4 full but I was served quickly. I ordered Paneer burger, chips, plain lassi and a flat white. The menu is short but very pleasant. The brilliant thing about this place is it's a coffee shop and Indian 'street food' outlet. I find that a great combo. Of course, 'street food' these days is rarely the street food, prepared simply on the street in front of you, that some of us are familiar with from travelling, but no need to be precious about it! My order came to around £10 which is fine by me. Now onto the problems .... so the lassi arrived and instead of plain it was clearly mango. I didn't really mind, but the Mongo one is quite a bit more expensive. Whether I got someone else's order I dunno. Likely just a mistake. Next the coffee. It was too hot and rather bitter. Often the two go together. I've had worse and was about drinkable after about ten minutes of sitting. They can do better with a minor adjustment I think. Then my burger arrived but no chips. They were coming I was told but they never did. After eating the burger, which was really excellent, drinking the superb lassi and sipping the coffee I needed to be on my way. I went to the counter and said to forget the chips. There were profuse apologies, which was fine. Off I went but was chased by a staff member who insisted they give me a refund. I wasn't bothered but went back and the owner (I think) apologised again. This was very nice. As I mentioned, they care! So this place is an essential visit if you're in and around the Wolverhampton centre. It's five minutes from the St George tram stop. I will certainly pop in again next time I visit Wolverhampton. The lassi is magnificent. Probably the best I've ever had. The burger is first class. The coffee so-so but I'm hard to please. They really need to reduce the temperature and not burn the grind. Staff are first class - just really nice, friendly, helpful people: the kind of folks you can build a business on. This place deserves success and judging by the customers in there I think they'll do fine!

There is nothing wrong with the neighbouring competition, I've tried them all and they're good, even busier, yet I believe the Anise has the edge on quality and presentation. Service may be a bit slower but it is genuinely cooked to order rather than a "ping" and it's ready. The food and starters in particular are as good as it gets for the money. Excellent food, clean restaurant and genuinely friendly staff make it well worth a try in lieu of following the crowd. The only negative is the location of the toilets on the 2nd Floor and the council charging for evening parking in that area. Update That was my opinion in April. We have been back since and been generally pleased but yesterday things weren't as good as previous visits. As said above, service is slower than average but over an hour wait for the starters really is too long especially when there were only two tables occupied all evening. When they arrived the onion bhaji actually tasted older than the wait and the sheek kebab was too hot. The other two starters were fine. Presentation was very good. No problems with the main courses although I did have to ask for a few chillis to liven up my Madras. The garlic fried rice was excellent but the nan & chips were way overdone indeed burnt in places. Our young waiter was struggling with English but he was pleasant enough. So overall not bad but barely adequate and certainly not the endorsement I had previously bestowed. I noticed the chefs were not the "experienced" ones previously seen, could this be the problem? Will they return? It looses half a star but at 3.5 gets rounded up. Only three tables occupied during the time we were there on a Saturday night plus good competition right next door means Anise will have to up its game to survive.

A really great place to enjoy a cosy meal with friends.

Cake is also good, but it does get quite busy, as does the parking outside, but you can normally get a seat. Perfectly good place for lunch or a catch up over tea and cake.
