This is the review I have been holding off for a while…read more Today marks 6 months since we used this service. This has been the most difficult and saddest decision we've had to make. When I contacted Restful Paws, I didn't know what to expect. In fact, I felt bad crying on the phone because I couldn't imagine trying to talk to someone like me at that moment. But the staff couldn't be more understanding and supportive. Unlike making end of life decisions for your fur baby, the process of scheduling this appointment was very easy. Restful Paws asked all the right questions, set the expectations, and made this process that much easier. And on the day of, Dr. Ami arrived promptly at the scheduled time. She was very caring and understanding, and she put all of us at ease. We could not have asked for a better last day for our Sodapop. I'm thankful that we reached out to restful pause, and grateful that they were able to come to our house to help us get through this phase. Weeks later, we received a card from Dr. Ami sending us her condolences. Thank you, Restful Paws, for doing the service that you do. From calling to make an appointment, receiving reminder emails, and day of texts from our vet, each step was handled with so much compassion. We were able to find a weekend availability which was best scenario so everyone could attend. Dr. Vine was very punctual the day of and gave us a thorough breakdown of what to expect (pain reliever, anesthesia, and euthanasia). We didn't feel rushed at any point, and we were given ample time before proceeding to each stage. She was very respectful and the process was smooth. After the euthanasia, we were able to choose where we wanted the fur clippings. The paw print was perfectly imprinted with Christy's name, which added such a sweet personal touch. We chose to pickup Christy's ashes at Sage, and it was quick. The only thing is it felt very jarring going to an animal hospital filled with so many people and dogs. Considering this was only 2 weeks after the euthanasia, I was still grieving and it was difficult being in that environment so soon. The only feedback I'd give is it'd be more mindful if there was a separate pickup location away from everyone else for more privacy. Dr. Vine sent a sympathy card as well and it was very sweet. Thank you so much for giving Christy such a respectful experience and having her pass comfortably and peacefully. I will definitely recommend this organization to loved ones! Unfortunately, our other dog needed the same journey this morning. Both were over 16 years old. Dr. Smith is absolutely wonderful. Just like Dr. Nagel. Professional, caring, respectful etc... Making the decision to send you pet on their journey is extremely sad and difficult. Once you make that decision, you want someone who not only loves their own pets, but will give your pet the respect and love they deserve to go on their journey. Dr. Smith and her husband are amazing. I highly recommend them to help you in this situation that no one wants to deal with. She was so kind and loving to my dog and tried to even console me (a 57 year old grown man)... which I am sure wasn't easy!! Our pets are a huge part of our lives. She stayed with us while we cried and sobbed as we said goodbye. And she brought a darling gurney, with a pillow and blanket where Kain could rest in a dignified way (after he passed). She was so generous and patient with her heart and time, and stayed with us as we continued with our "memorial" time together. And when it was time for her to take Kain, she had a very beautiful and honoring space in her car for him, that touched our hearts in the most beautiful and comforting way. She promised she would be the one to deliver Kain's ashes, and she did... Gui Gui had been limping since last Wednesday, and Dr. Haburjak's team was able to quickly find an appointment for us that Monday. During the visit, Dr. Haburjak performed a very thorough physical examination and determined that he did not believe Gui Gui's knee was the source of the problem. He carefully identified the hock as a possible source and immediately referred us to a specialist. What touched me most was how much Dr. Haburjak personally did to make sure Gui Gui received the care he needed as quickly as possible. He immediately called and texted the specialist to help get Gui Gui seen as soon as possible. He also sent us a detailed and thoughtful email explaining his concerns and introduced us directly to the specialist. He went above and beyond to make sure there was a smooth transition of care. It turned out that Gui Gui had a serious infection in his hock--septic arthritis. I truly believe Dr. Haburjak's careful examination, clinical judgment, quick action, and genuine concern for Gui Gui made all the difference. His prompt identification of the problem and immediate referral helped Gui Gui receive the urgent treatment he needed. In my heart, I truly believe he saved Gui Gui's life. I feel incredibly lucky to have such an amazing surgeon and such a wonderful team in the area where I live. It gives me so much peace of mind knowing that Gui Gui is in the hands of people who genuinely care about their patients. I would like to preface by saying that I don't like leaving poor reviews for companies…read more First, I'd like to start by saying the welcoming staff IN PERSON here was great. Very friendly and thoughtful. My complaints are not directly to anyone, but mostly being misled by what this hospital can do and when it can be done. I scheduled a consultation with internal medicine for August 4th. At the time of scheduling, I let them know that I was referred to them for a rhinoscopy and CT for my dog. They told me over the phone they sometimes can do the procedure the same day but it's uncommon. I understood that but still scheduled, hopeful that they could still do a rhinoscopy in the near future as it was something my primary vet urged me to do soon. They had me pay the consultation fee on same day to confirm my appointment, which I didn't question at the time. Keep in mind, they knew I needed a rhinoscopy with internal medicine specifically at the time I made this call. At the time of our appointment, we met with Dr. Louis who was very knowledgeable and kind. When I asked him about scheduling the rhinoscopy, he said they do not have the equipment needed for that procedure at this hospital (IronHorse) and he is only in the hospital that has the equipment (OakVet) ONCE A MONTH. Adding to that, he was out of town in August so we were looking at September. When I asked the nurse about September, she said there was a line so it's possible we couldn't get in. At this time, I was feeling very frustrated because I felt so misled that they knew the procedure couldn't be done anytime soon but still took my money for the consultation fee and led me to believe this hospital could perform the procedure. If I knew OakVet was the one that had the equipment, I would've just scheduled there. But this information was never offered to me over the phone at the time of scheduling the initial consult. I was told the estimate for the future procedure would be sent to me by the end of the week (this was Tuesday 8/4) and didn't receive anything by Friday. I called on Friday and they said end of day, and I did not receive anything end of day. I called again on Monday and they said they are backed up, I should have it soon. It's now 8/16 and I have not received a call or email with my estimate. Overall, the communication and professionalism of some staff at this hospital is not something I'd subject myself to again. I think once they finish the merge with OakVet, it could function better but if you're looking to get a rhinoscopy and CT, I would look elsewhere. We were able to go to Sage Dublin that same week and have the procedure done. All other vets in the area that I called were very transparent about how booked they were and if they have the equipment to perform the procedure I asked about.
