One of my most favorite places to shop for plants! They have a large variety of generics to choose from and named African violets you don't find very often elsewhere. They also have many plants that will grow well in terrariums, succulents, tropical plants and so much more. I always find a plant to bring home no matter how many times I stop by. I was lucky to meet these gals at an African violet show but then I became even luckier to discover they have a shop in town! Their store is not exclusive to African violets but also carries a wide range of plants, most of which grow indoors. They're so filled with knowledge about species of plants but are not pretentious and look things up when necessary. Their inventory is always rotating so every time you go in you can purchase something new. A very cool accessory they offer is their trademarked "dandy pot". If you love unusual plants, THIS is the place you need to go. I moved to Ocala last year from Colorado and had to leave ALL my plants behind: African Violets, my "ZZ" plant, my ferns, my succulents, my "lipstick" plant, etc., etc. It was sad...... One day I happened upon the Peacock Cottage and it was like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I spied surprise after surprise all over the store. I was totally blown away to see they had DANDY POTS!!!!!!! The VERY BEST pot for African Violets, and I've tried them all. I used to get them from the Violet Showcase in Denver and was chagrined to learn they were no longer available--the company had shut down. I felt like kissing the floor of the shop. Now if you haven't tried Dandy Pots, you must. They're great for your plants and so easy. Then after I calmed down and looked around the shop, I found plant after plant that were on my "must have" list!!! I found unique succulents that I was going to pay a LOT for from eBay because I couldn't find it anywhere else!!! Just unbelievable, the variety of plants. And if they don't have what you want, they'll try to get it for you. And such nice people, they even potted up the African Violets into Dandy Pots for me--free of charge. (I hate repotting, I usually accidentally break off some of the delicate leaves.). So, if you want healthy plants that are not like what everyone in town has, this is the place!!!
