I have been to this restaurant four times in the month of February! The first two times I had the shrimp fried rice which surpassed in flavor and texture all Chinese places I've been to throughout my time in Jacksonville! The wait staff is very attentive and I love the table by the fireplace!! I then had a hamburger with everything except onions ( date night) with jalapeños and it sent me promptly home to fall into a food "coma " and then ... I had the 3 pc catfish...BOMBASTIC!!! Nice little diner-esque venue here in Jacksonville. Very quiet and laid back atmosphere. The food was good and quick. I liked the choice of redfish as an entree instead of just catfish. I ordered the red fish and it was crisp and good. The coleslaw was an excellent and very enjoyable. I like mine a bit on the sweet side and this was just right. The fries seemed to be hand cut and the onion rings were not from a bag. Two big pluses for me. Nothing was over cooked and the prices were very good. Overall, if you're looking for a seafood place with other options as well (fried rice dishes, sandwiches, etc.), I would try this place. read more

Visited 'The Patio Seafood" last evening as I have done many times because I like their Gumbo. I called in my order for a large bowl of Gumbo which is always $8.65. Last night I called in my order but needed to go inside to use the facilities, so I waited for my order. When I presented my DEBIT card for payment, an additional 3% was added to my bill so instead of $8.65 my bill was now $9.00. I questioned the waitress that it was illegal to charge an additional fee for use of my DEBIT card and explained that it was not a credit card. The receipt plainly stated that it was paid by a DEBIT card. I showed her on my phone that was illegal to charge an additional fee for payment with a DEBIT card, since I'm paying with "cash" that I have in the bank, and she stated that they have had many complaints about this same issue. I requested that my she cancel the transaction and ring it up again to allow me to physically put in my debit PIN. The waitress stated that she could not do that because of the card transaction system (small machine) that they use. I requested to speak with a manager. Waitress went to the kitchen and told the manager, came back out and stated it I would have to wait for a bit since she was cooking. So, I waited. The manager lady finally came out to the counter, and I explained everything again and showed her the information on my phone, and she was NOT willing to remove the additional charge. I then asked her to separate the amount of order and 3% additional charge on my receipt instead of receipt stating that my order was simply $9.00. She just stood there and looked at me really hateful. I explained that the amount of money charged was NOT the issue, it was the "principal" that if they do this to every person who pays by DEBIT card, it's not right and illegal. They attempt to make it look like a "cash discount" on receipt. She stated that I could pay cash if I did not want to be charged the additional fee. Finally, the manager lady realized that I was not willing to budge on my stance, and with several patrons in the restaurant at the time, that could most likely hear the conversation, she gave me a mean, aggravated look, opened the register and handed me .35 in cash. Then very sarcastically told me "you have a wonderful evening now". I turned and walked out, NEVER to return again. The manager of this place is a true gem! read more

Every time me and my wife eat at The Patio, which is one of our favorite restaurants, the food has always been delicious. I usually order their mouth-watering Fried catfish that comes with a side of fresh homemade fries. The owner of this amazing restaurant happens to be really nice too! Highly recommend it. read more

Stopped by here for lunch on a trip through Jacksonville. Hmmm... do we want seafood or donuts or frozen cotton candy, or coffee? Well, here you can get them all in pretty much one place. We chose The Patio which was seafood, but oh, so much more! Probably one of the most eclectic combinations of entrees on a menu that I've seen in a while, plus delightfully weird typography. How about a "fried mushroom" appertizer (just one?) or some Alasking King Crab or a salad with some avacado? Food 4 stars. Service 0 stars. Decided to take my sister here for her birthday dinner. Had heard it was pretty good and there's not a lot of choices in jacksonville tx except for Mexican cuisine. We got there about 6 pm. It was a rainy Friday night and there wasother table occupied. Waitress looked to be about 12 or 14 and she plainly did not want to be there. Bad attitude and had trouble taking our order. My sister and i ordered the steak and my wife had the grilled shrimp. Let me tell you that the food was delicious. Cooked perfectly with great flavor. The problem was the server. She gave the salads to the wrong people then she gave the baked potatoes to the wrong. people. Then she and another person brought out the entrees and loudly she told him that goes to "the old man". Granted I'm 70 so yes I'm old but it was very rude of her to say it. She then went and sat down and never checked on us again. We had to yell for to go boxes and for the check which she didn't know how to process. Very aggravated and will not be back read more

When we came in, I ordered a burger and was told they were out. Not a problem, I'll order something different. Nope, out of that too. I finally asked what they did have that wasn't fish (allergies) and was told nothing. Okay... so I'll have loaded fries and sides for a meal I guess. Nope, out of that too. Fish only, nothing else. I offered to wait while the rest of my party ate and get food elsewhere, but there was literally nothing else. Just fish, no sides or anything else for them to eat it with. Out of towners ‍‍ Our family stopped in for lunch, we were starving! Our food arrived quickly and was so fresh. The fried shrimp was the best I've ever had, and we eat out aaaaalllooott! The breading was perfectly light and does not fall off! My husband had the snapper with grilled shrimp, huge plate of food and he loved it. My daughter enjoyed the shrimp cocktail. This is the worse food I've ever had!! The steak was raw you couldn't even cut with a knife. I wouldn't feed to my dog! The lobster tail didn't taste like lobster at all. It was like rubber!! A small pair of old buildings adjacent to the highway on the way out of town hide the fact that the food here is delicious! We had fried fish filets, fried shrimp, hamburger and even pad thai (special of the day); all of which were very well prepared. The older building has tall ceilings, large plate glass windows, and the dining tables are very basic but in good clean condition. Bathrooms are clean and comfortable. An outdoor patio lets you sit outside and enjoy the traffic at the stoplight. The fried seafood tastes very fresh with a crispy light breading, no sign of greasyness. The burger was large and tasty. For fries with the order, the waiter offered an unusual choice: fresh or frozen potatoes? The fresh potato fries were great. All-in-all a pleasant drop in diner to relax to get a nice meal. Prices were good given the quality of the food. By the way the other building is a donut shop/sandwich shop we didn't visit. read more

TERRIBLE BUSINESS OWNER I was very unhappy with this place. I ordered the stuffed salmon and the entire bottom was burnt. I tried to eat it but the taste was horrible and it was incredibly dry. I told the waitress I wasn't going to eat it and to just take it off my tab. The owner said that they would not take it off the tab I had to pay for half of it and they sent it back to my table. I said I was not going to eat it and to take it away and I overheard the owner say to the waitress she would call the cops if I didn't pay. The waitress came to me again with the plate of food and said she wasn't trying to cause trouble but the owner would not take it. I said I would pay for half of the dish like the owner was requiring but I would be giving a bad review. Never did the owner come out to talk to us or even offer to re-make the salmon. Instead they put the poor waitress in the middle of it. We paid for the food that I did not eat and generously tipped the waitress but I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. Was very disappointed. read more

We decided to try this little spot again and have had a pleasant lunch experience! Apparently the new owner took over a couple years ago. The menu is completely different and it is no longer an "order at the front" restaurant. We seated ourselves and a waitress came and took our order. We started with corn nuggets and hush puppies which were both good and my son ordered fried catfish, my husband ordered a Philly cheesesteak and I ordered a shrimp poboy. The French fries were a little soggy for me but my husband thought they were good. The seafood was great! Love finding good eats when on road trips. The Patio is definitely a good place to stop. It is a combination seafood restaurant/donut shop. We enjoyed a fried shrimp platter and a chef salad with an eggroll. There are distinctive peculiarities to this place, ie their chef salad is a regular salad as there is no meat or eggs. Not really sure why it's called "chef salad". The egg roll dipping sauce is a sweet and sour liquid concoction (maybe vinegar?), and the shrimp cocktail sauce is not in a customary red bottle but rather in what one would think as the MUSTARD bottle. It doesn't take one inch away from it being a pleasant eating experience but management definitely marches to its own drumbeat. Prompt and friendly staff. Check it out. read more

My wife and I stopped here randomly on a road trip. Sure glad we did! I got an Italian Sausage and Pepper sandwich, she got wings, and we split loaded fries. Everything was fresh and delicious! It shows "Closed Today" (Monday) but it's open from 11am to 9pm Mon-Sat & 11am to 3pm on Sunday. The Donut part area (in same restaurant) opens 5am to 2pm. Anyway I Order Gumbo and Seafood platter and overall it was good. The Fish fillets are a little small and the crust is very soft. It would be nicer if it was fried a little longer though.
