I've been getting my hair cut by Garrett at Holli B'z for years now…read more The shop itself has a relaxed, neighborhood feel. Nothing overly polished or curated here. If I'm being honest, the interior feels a bit tossed together and somewhat unfinished more functional than deliberately designed. It feels approachable and unpretentious. Garrett has consistently done a great job. He's easy-going, conversational and, most importantly, seems genuinely invested in making sure you leave with the haircut you actually want. He takes the time to ask questions, make small adjustments and go a little further to get things right rather than rushing you through the chair. Pricing lands somewhere in the middle range and feels fair for the quality. You're not paying luxury barbershop prices, but you're also getting a noticeably more thoughtful experience than a generic walk-in chain. Overall, Holli B'z is a chill, pleasant neighborhood spot that delivers solid haircuts at a competitive price. If you want a reliable cut from someone who pays attention and doesn't overcomplicate things, it's definitely worth checking out.

Quick drive, 10 min in a stool, and $20-40 later my long hair was shorter job done. Over the years I'd tried bougier establishments, they had some cute amenities but I genuinely never noticed much of a difference in quality. I was about to head out to another SuperCuts run, but my wife prevailed on me to check out this spot that apparently had a good amount of Reddit hype. "Dappr Dan", hey that's a pretty neat name, why not? I've been going to Dan's regularly now for two years, and it's insane to think that I now actually look forward to getting my hair cut. Dan's demeanor and earnest interest are excellently suited to the usual barber chop talk, and somehow despite being one of a hundred-plus regulars he sees every couple months, he can immediately pick right up where we were last talking. Beyond that, Dan's a barber who actively loves the art of his work and brings an exceptional attention to detail in delivering exceptional cuts. He is meticulous with his attention to layering, ensuring that a haircut won't just look good for a few days then get shaggy, but shines through from cut to cut. While I usually book for 45min, between our banter and his attention to detail it frequently runs to the full hour. Despite being fully booked, Dan never rushes through the work to get through to the next booking, he places his full attention and energy into each of his clients into getting it right and making folks look good. As the length of this review and the unambiguous 5 ratings hopefully convey, can't recommend this spot enough!

I feel like it was pricey, but I think it's normal price for a good quality cut. I'm also a stingy guy when it comes to haircut money. He was very chill about everything. I'm not much for small talk but the chitchat was nice. I say because I look older than I am and I didn't really have much life experience to talk about with him. Anyways great cut will probably go again in 8 ish months. Nice atmosphere. I love the smell of the alcohol disinfectant thingy.

First of all, his Barbershop is one of the cleanest, greatly kept up barbershops I've ever been to. Second, Terrance is nice and great to talk to and really cares about his clients. Third, I don't really care for big barbershops with multiple barbers and multiple people. One barber with one chair and not a lot of people is perfect for me. I highly recommend everyone to have Terrance cut their hair. You have to make an appointment and that's not a hassle. Shoutout to Terrance for hooking up the fade. Terrance is definitely going to be my go to barber!

Booking was relatively easy, I booked through their online portal. Just make sure to choose the correct location now that they have 2 locations. Parking is easy and plentiful since it's located in a small plaza. I would highly recommend Certified Cutz Barbershop. If you're in Oakland or nearby, trust me, this place is a hidden gem! My husband had been trying to get in touch the last week or so to make an appointment and finally felt something was up when he didn't hear back. Fidning out this news is devastating. Not only was Damion a talented barber (best I've ever had - quoting my husband) but my husband says he was a great man who loved his daughter, wife and family more than anything. He had plans to do all kinds of things in his future - his is definitely a life taken too soon. Rest in peace Damion.

Their location is pretty convenient and I had no trouble with street parking nearby. The shop itself is small with wood floors and paneling which gives it a warm and intimate vibe. The conversation between the crew and customers feels like a friends and family hangout. I got to know Jaryd pretty well and really enjoyed our chat. As for the cut itself, I couldn't be happier. I was looking for a transformation and Jaryd delivered! I have significant recession in my hairline which makes my hair tricky to work with and I'm not generally thrilled with my haircuts, so I put this one off for years and came in with hair past my shoulders. I told Jaryd I was looking for a textured fringe which was no problem for him. He shaped my beard as well which really added to the overall look.
