Justin is clean with it. Easy to chat and easy w the blade. The shop is good vibes. Highly recommend.

Been living in the Bay for a minute now and have experienced a hard time finding a dope barber that's consistent and worth the price. Dave at this shop is definitely that dude. Got cut by bruh and this the best haircut I've had since I can remember. Place is clean, professional, and a great vibe. Plus its in a really dope part of town. Book online, its easy, and quick. read more

I got my haircut from Ricky, made an appointment on the same day. Usually, I get a high-top fade but decided to get a temple fade this time. The haircut time estimate was about an hour, but he finished it in about 40 mins and it still came out on point. This barbershop is also in Old Oakland with plenty of options for nice cafes and restaurants to go to after your cut. The overall environment of the shop is pretty chill and pet-friendly. read more

I needed a cut asap and I make my appointment online and got one quick. Manuel Ochoa cut my hair and he cut it really good he make me a clean and fresh hart cut. He was really nice and talked with me about a lot of things and make me feel comfortable on my first time. I recommend this place a lot so if you are looking for a haircut go here. read more

When I need to look my best and look sharp, I always visit Nick Galindo. I highly recommend him. The quality of service is equivalent to a celebrity getting a haircut. You can set up an appointment with Nick on their website. The shop is located downtown across from the food market. Parking is metered for only an hour. Bart is just a short walk as well. They have projector screen while you're waiting and everyone at the shop is friendly. I suggest asking the different barbers about their styles and look in you're interested in a change. Everyone inside the shop is very knowledgeable. read more

Dave Marlberg is the best. Got a clean fade and designs. He's the only one I go to there

Still drive up from LA to get a fade and beard trim from Dave Marlberg. Worth the trip - he's a natural talent and my wife thanks him for keeping me looking sharp. Great conversations and awesome barber shop. read more

Always a detailed and complete cut from Nick Galindo! I've easily had 50+ cuts from Nick and quality is something I can always expect from him.   There are times when I want to change my hairstyle but aren't sure what exactly to go with. Nick gives great feedback and asks the right questions to help shape my decision. Will definitely be back! read more

This barber shop is a gem located in Old Oakland, close to 12th Street BART station and around a lot of cafes, restaurants and local shops. Same day appointment made and got a perfect high fade and lineup done by Nick. I have a small bump on my neckline that he was careful to ask about. The vibe was very chill and the shop is super clean and spacious. I'll be back since I think found my new barber! read more

Disappointing all around. Nick Cantu was my barber for a same-day appointment. I was looking forward to my haircut given Nick's demeanor on the phone was positive. My haircut was a $65.00 experience riddled with poor effort, injury, and disappointment. The poor experience began w/Nick using a brush inappropriately and proceeded to poke my eye with it. Next up when laying me back in the seat to do my neck line, he yanked me down without any forewarning. He then proceeds to leave visible straggler hairs behind my ears, the back of my neck, and beard. Lastly, he ends the session by brushing cut loose hair onto me after having taken the cap off of me. I ended up having to instruct him to clean things up. And he had the audacity to exasperate in frustration as if it was me to blame for **his** sub-par haircut. This is the most I paid for a haircut and it was arguable one of the worst customer services experiences I have ever had. Avoid both Nick and this barbershop. A strong manager would be doing quality assurance of the work of each barber to ensure satisfactory work and some level of standardization. read more

Been getting my haircut here for a half year or so, great looking barber shop with open space and in an awesome neighborhood! Jack usually cuts my hair and always does a solid job. Always feel great leaving the shop, highly recommended read more

This review is for Dimond. But I also want to note the shop is always well maintained and in a great location. I've never had a bad experience coming into this place. When it comes to my hair, I can be a bit picky. The way I see it is I'm stuck with my haircut until it grows out (about two weeks). So once I find a barber that works with me, listens to my constant variations, keeps on time appointments, I'll stick with him. As long as Dimond is cutting here, I'll keep coming back. If you're looking for a new barber or just need a last minute cut, ask for Dimond. read more

I've been going here for over a year now and have always been happy with how easy it is to schedule an appointment (even on weekends). All the barbers I've seen are friendly and give great cuts, but lately I've been going with Jack who is fantastic, super friendly and conversational and gave me some great advice on hair products that I'm using now too. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Walked in for a late night cut and surprisingly Nick Cantu fit me in. 10/10 haircut with great conversation. Was very professional and accommodating to how I wanted my hair cut. Found a new customer and I was exceptionally happy with the service he provided. read more

I really loved my haircut by Ethan, who did an amazing job with my buzz/undercut. I'm a queer Asian, so I'm very selective of hair stylists, since not everyone knows how to do queer/Asian hair well. I appreciated Ethan's professionalism and creativity. Being my first time visiting Levels, I wasn't sure if Ethan could recreate my original haircut. He made a good effort to check how I'd like my hair cut and styled. I thought he did a great job in both recreating the same general style that I had before it grew out, while adding a creative spin that I appreciated since I was getting bored of my hair style too. Definitely going back! read more

I've been getting my haircut here for a while now. One of the best cuts I've gotten. (Thanks Jack!) This is a solid barbershop with great people and a friendly atmosphere. -Bryan read more

I had tried the Level's barbershop in Berkeley and had a decent experience so I figured I'd try this one closer to home. Originally had schedule a haircut at 2:30pm, got a text earlier in the day asking to reschedule at 3pm. Okay no problem. I get there right at three, check in with someone and then was told to wait as the barber was "finishing up". Then I proceeded to wait for 30 mins. No one came to check on me. No one came to update me on what was taking so long. No communication what so ever. After waiting so long with no service, I walked out. Then I received a text that my appointment was canceled-boy they sure rushed to communicate that! Would not recommend this location due to inept communication. read more

Here to give some love to my barber for 2+ years Kris Bondoc. She's very skillful, listen to what you want and willing to give me suggestion on what she thinks is nice. Plus she's a very wholesome person. I'm always satisfied with my haircut (usually skin fade on my thick ass Asian hair). Def one of the best barbers in the Bay Area. read more

Called to make an appointment, and they gave me one the next day, which was super convenient. The spot is very clean and had a great atmosphere. Nick C. cut my hair and he did an incredible job. I got a burst fade mullet. He stopped every so to ensure I felt great about the hairstyle. Nick is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, I am not from the Bay Area, but would definitely return here. Shout out to Nick! read more

5-star review for these reasons: * the set up inside is very clean, open, and welcoming with natural lighting * Nick Galindo has been blessing me with the cleanest fades ever since I can remember. dude works actual magic. You will not be disappointed w his work. And plus he's hella nice and easy to talk to. Go to nick! * prime location in Oakland & close to many food spots, breweries, BART, the gym, etc. * you can easily browse the appointment availability on the levels website and book one that works best for you * accepts Venmo, zelle, card, cash, etc. read more

Super disappointing experience. Will never return. The cost for the work product is insulting to the customer and hardworking barbers who commit to providing excellent service from beginning to end for less than what Levels is charging. read more

Excellent experience with Nick Cantu today. First time in this location and with Nick. I used to go to the shop in Berkeley. Nick was professional, funny, great convo the whole time. Gave me a nice looking skin fade and precision line up. Exactly how I wanted it. Clean, tight, short. Shop is clean, great location old town O-Town. I want to book again for a straight razor shave and a cut. Definitely recommend and would absolutely go back- thanks Nick and Levels! read more

Just started going to this place close to work. Nick does a great job giving me exactly what I asked for. He's very professional, courteous and makes you feel at home. Even with an emergency on his mind he took the time to finish me up and wish me well. I definitely will be back for another appointment with Nick in the future. read more

I've been looking for a go-to barber in the area for a while and luckily came across Jack at Levels. Prime location to have a barber shop. Close to 12th street Bart & near the heart of Downtown Oakland. I've driven multiple times and parking was very easy as well. The barbers at this shop take their time every step of the way. I've been getting cuts from Nick G. for awhile. He takes his time with fades and is precise with his scissor work. I've seen many people come out with different style haircuts looking fresh. The other barbers at this location are very relaxed and keep up to date on the latest trends and techniques. The owner made a lounge area that is always streaming sports or relevant events. The music and lighting fits the space well - you can tell it was very thought out. They are appointment based so I suggest checking their website first for availability. If you're looking for a quality haircut from some down to earth people, check out Levels for sure. read more

I have been going to Levels for about a year. I followed my barber Jack here who I have had for about 8 years. I followed him because he is a great barber, has attention to detail, and always sharpening his craft. On top of all that he is a great guy. I always have a great time and I see him every month. So if you're in need of a new barber, ask for Jack. He will have you looking great as soon as you step off the chair. read more

Gotta give props to Jack Perez. Jack is an artist, gave me the best cut I've had in years. He knew exactly what I wanted without me necessarily knowing how to describe it. He has great professional judgment and knew exactly how much to take off all around with perfect layers/fade. Jack will be the first repeat barber I've had in a very long time. read more

Jack was able to book my 5 year old son for an Emergency haircut, he was flexible with his schedule. He talked my son through the entire process and was so kind to him. My son is not scared of getting a haircut anymore as Jack was thorough in his explanations and tailored the style to what my son preferred. I would definitely recommend Jack as a barber! read more

When I first arrived to Levels , I had the most terrible COVID home-made haircut and the guys from level, in specific Dave Malberg and Jack Perez brought me back to a decent shape. apart from great conversations, This is the place to come for a great consistent look. Jack Perez has been cutting my hair for a couple months now, and he is nothing short of the best barber I've ever had. He is incredibly detail-oriented and meticulous, never resting until it's just right. And the shop is awesome: great conversation, chill vibe, and always sports on in the background. I won't go anywhere else. read more

Highly debating if I should put the barbers name on this review because I know how much that effects each barbers livelihood...so I won't. Never really felt the need to leave bad reviews for hair cuts. But if I'm paying 45 dollars for a hair cut, I expect it to be at least decent. The cut was awful. Should have known booking the only barber (last minute) available before thanksgiving was a terrible idea. I asked for a pretty basic combover. 2 on the sides and a taper. Pretty generic since every Asian guy gets a comb over. When the barber started buzzing my sides and back I started to notice his razors going higher than what my regular barber would normally do. I didn't give it much thought since I was paying 45 for the cut and assumed it couldn't be that bad. When he was done, it looked pretty decent so I tipped an extra 5 and was on my way. When I got home and got ready to go out. I did my hair and realized this guy shaved ALMOST AN INCH HIGHER than what it was. He literally shaved an inch into the long hair I had on top for my comb over! BOTH ON THE SIDE AND BACK. Why the hell would you not follow what was there already and stick with that!!! That's like basic barber 101! Now the back of my head looks like a short ass buzz cut and won't go down with gel because it's too short! The side where I comb my hair away from is about 3/4 inches in. Absolutely terrible cut! Now I have to spend 2-3 months growing that inch back out. read more

ANTI-VAXXERS! Unfortunately, my haircut was about halfway done when a barber went into a full anti-vax rant. My barber tried to talk him down but he was obnoxious, loud, and proudly unvaccinated. To top it all off I got a terrible, patchy fade. I asked him to fix it once but was tired of sitting around breathing droplets, so I didn't ask him to fix it again. Horrible cut, even worse practices. read more

I booked a cut with any staff barber and was lucky enough to get Diamond. He lives up to his name, he's a gem. When he swiveled me around at the end to reveal his work I was honestly amazed. Worked magic on my patchy beard with sharp lines and angles and made it look full. Solid fade. And he listened to and understood what I'm going for on top. Best cut ever. read more
