During one of my sessions, I was severely burned in a specific area, which was very painful. The injury made me lose trust in the amount of safety I had during treatments. I am unsure still why it occurred because I was told that the puss open wound, was due to a hair that was ingrown and became infected... which I quickly learned was not what was going on. In addition, I felt uncomfortable with the staffing of technicians situation. While many other females worked there, there was only one laser technician available, and he was male. He performs Brazilian laser hair removal on female clients, but when I checked the website after a few treatments and curiosity, did not offer the same service to male clients, which in hindsight sight felt unprofessional and inappropriate to me being that if a female wants a Brazilian, she has no choice but to have a male technician. An hour before my appointments, I applied numbing cream on my bikini line and my entire Brazilian area with plastic wrap over the areas. At the beginning of my appointment, he wiped my numbing cream off from my Brazilian area very invasively without even asking if I was okay with that or giving me the option if I could wipe it myself before the lasering. The reason could be so he removes all of the product off completely before lasering, but with ONLY a male tech available and as a female patient who is basically blindfolded being touched in that vulnerable way, I should have 100% been given more options for my comfort. I was asked to remove my bra while wearing a medical gown that opens in the front. The laser treatment was only for my underarms, and the area was fully accessible through the sides/sleeves of the gown. There was no medical reason for me to remove my bra. As a result, my chest was exposed, which made me feel very uncomfortable and vulnerable. This situation felt completely unnecessary, and it could have been easily avoided. Between the physical injury and the discomfort surrounding the treatment environment, I chose not to return again. I would strongly encourage others considering this spa to think about your comfortability levels when getting vulnerable areas lasered by a male technician, to ask detailed questions about safety protocols, and how client comfort is prioritized before making an appointment.

Early last year, I finally decided to make an appointment for a free consultation here at Laser Spa & Center. The esthetician, Tatiana, recommended for me 3 treatments of IPL (Intense Pulse Light) and 3 treatments of Microneedling. Each treatment one month apart, a total of 6 months to complete. The esthetician wanted me to start on my IPL first. The most interesting thing about this treatment, your spots will get super dark before it starts to fade. It actually looks way worse then when you first started. I mean, it looks like someone took a black Sharpie pen and drew dots all over your face. She told me not freak out but I did when I saw how dark it looked in the next few days. And lo and behold, it then starts to fade. By the third treatment, she cranked up that dial and went to town on my face. Spots that weren't there showed up. By the end of my IPL treatments, pretty much all my spots had faded except for the ones right under my eyes. The tissue is too thin there and she is not allow to work around that area. Benefits of IPL includes: - Brighter, Firmer, Tighter Skin - Brighter, more even tone from dark/sun damage - Improved Texture - Reduced Redness - Reduced Pore Size Microneedling - Collagen Induction Therapy. A microneedling pen (dermapen), vertically pierces the skin with hundreds of micro holes to naturally stimulate collagen and elastin. You lose most of your collagen in your 30s. She first numbs my face for half an hour. As she starts going over my skin with the dermapen, I start to bleed, this allows for new collagen to come out. The needles ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 millimeters will be used on different parts of your face. Some areas of your face will hurt more, such as the nose where the tissue is thin. - Benefits of microneedling includes: - Skin tightening and lifting - Improves acne scars - Improves wrinkles and fine lines - Minimizes pore size Results may vary and recovery time is different for everyone. For me, I was told that I didn't bleed as much as some other patients. My face felt tight for the first few days. All the redness were gone by the third day. As the weeks went by, I see an immediate difference, especially after my 2nd and 3rd treatment. Some frown lines around my mouth bothered me when I didn't smile. After all the treatments were complete, the frown lines were a lot less noticeable. I also noticed that my skin was less oily. Today was my fourth microneedling treatment. I will go back from time to time to maintain the health of my skin. The esthetician, Tatiana, is a sweetheart. Very professional and always made sure I was not in too much pain. When the nurse practitioner came in (S.P.) she didn't seem interested in anything I had to say, only checking off boxes. Whether or not it was true, she felt like she was... rushing. I didn't feel like a patient, just some chore to finish and get over with quickly. She seemed distracted and disinterested in understanding my situation. Maybe because I went before their lunch break. I was rushed out the door before I even had a chance to fully discuss both the problem and the prescription. There is a big sign that says something like "Please limit your visit to 1-2 issues, if you have more issues, schedule another appointment." Which tells you a lot about the type of service they would prefer to provide to you. The most important problem was the prescription they gave me, which was sub-par, compared to when Dr. Urman was there. They had my old prescription in the system, but instead of renewing the old one, they changed it to something way less than before. The prescription was worse in both quantity (6/month vs. normally 30/month), and duration (6 months vs. normally 2 years). If your issue is finding medicine for hair loss, I recommend looking elsewhere. Not sure if this is true, but feels like they made the duration to be 6 months so you keep coming back. Perhaps the other branches are better than this one, but definitely can't recommend the one at Somerset.
