I have used and recommended The Painter Man many times over the last 5 years and they are great every time! These people were the most incompetent, bizarre, and rude "painters" I have ever encountered. We had the inside and portions of our outside house painted by these people. Here are a few of the problems we experienced. 1. The initial person showed up to give us a bid reeking of alcohol. Red flag #1. 2. I provided the paint formula from a previous Valspar can from Lowe's. What they ended up painting with was some cheap Sherwin-Williams paint. Not at all what was provided. 3. On day one, the old man that was working asked for a glass of water. He said he forgot to bring water. I directed him to our refrigerator and said there was water in there. For the rest of the week, these three drank every can and bottle of soda, water, and Gatorade in the refrigerator without asking. What contractor doesn't bring their own water? 4. On about day 2, I realized the work was sloppy and inferior. I walked the project pointing out everything that needed to be fixed. They did not take the feedback well. At that point, they became unfriendly and almost hostile. 5. The kitchen cabinets were rolled with the wrong kind of roller. The crew agreed they looked horrendous. Instead of taking the doors off again, they proceeded to sand the doors in my kitchen with all of my dishes, food, glassware, and spices in the cabinets. They did not cover these items, ask to move them, or ask if they could start sanding. I ended up with paint dust everywhere and all of my food were covered. They also gouged the hardwood floor then moving furniture. 6. The work was very sloppy and these people had a complete disrespect for me, my property, and my personal belongings. There were drips and spots all over the floors, counters, and my personal belongings. The exterior paint began bubbling a week after they finished. The only reason I didn't fire them or tell them to clean up and fix everything when they were done was because I was on a strict timeline. I didn't have time to start over with a new crew. I didn't call them back to fix everything because I didn't want them back on my property. These three remind me of people that have spent time in prison. No interpersonal communication skills, or problem-solving skills. They were in a rush, did inferior work, and were unpleasant to work with or even be around. An all-around negative experience that I feel I must share in order to save any other unsuspecting people the disaster I experienced with this group. *update to response from business owner* Business owner apparently has amnesia. After getting a few bids for painting the interior of our condo, we decided on The Painter Man based on the recommendation of our handyman. They were professional from start to finish and did an excellent job. When Jon came out for the estimate, I could tell right away that he knew what he was doing. He pointed out a few things that we hadn't thought of and made some suggestions to save us money. He said the project would take about seven days, and I was apprehensive about having our home being in disarray for that long. Plus we are home most of the day and I was nervous about being in the way. The last time we had painting done our place was basically uninhabitable. Well, it turned out to be fine. Jon and Gerry worked on one area at a time, so our entire house wasn't a mess, and it was easy just to go to another part of it while they were here. They showed up every day when they said they would, moved things and put them back for us, and did a great job on the painting. They are such nice people and we really enjoyed having them in our home. We were sad to see them leave when the job was completed. How nice it is to have such a positive experience with a contractor, or anyone, really. read more

First off Jon showed up right on time Friday afternoon for the appointment to estimate our inside paint job. Very polite, respectful, cordial, and wore his mask throughout his time in our home. He asked great questions to clarify, and listened to my wife as she discussed the job. He gave us a couple of things to think about. Then late Saturday the bid arrived by email. Very clear and showed that he was listening and paying attention. It was almost exactly like our other bids. While we chose a different company for our project, it was only because our neighbors knew the other company and recommended them. Or we would have chosen Jon's. My roof leaked leaving a large area of the laundry room ceiling with a stain. I had the roof fixed and the next day had Jon from the Painter Man come to give me an estimate. His quote was very reasonable and said that he could do it right away, which he did and it turned out very nice. Jon was very nice, polite and efficient. We were referred to Gerry by our neighbor across the street with high praise. I had been wanting to get our cream colored ceilings painted a brighter white (darn ranch style home and it's lack of light) as well as the exterior. In an effort to get more than one quote this time for a home project, we had called one painter to come out to quote us one day, and Gerry to come quote us on the next. The one painter flaked on us (must have gotten a bigger, better deal) and so, we decided to just see what Gerry had to say when he came and if his quote was out of control, then we would consider getting another quote just to see what the "ballpark" looked like. Gerry showed up on time for the inspection and was nice and polite. He likes to joke and has one of those East Coast senses of humor. We showed him the inside of the house for the ceilings first (they were three different colors of white) and he showed us which color of white would be best and only necessitate one coat of paint (as two coats would cost more). Outside, we discussed the color of the house and the color for the trim. He talked me out of any shade of red (for the trim- even if it was tasteful) due to the fade factor. Yes, the paint has UV protection in it, but reds just won't wear well over time and would need to be repainted every 2 years rather than every 5-7 years. He also was very conscious of the neighbors on the block and the colors of their houses and making the point of not wanting to stand out like a sore thumb. He reiterated that he would paint the house any colors we wanted, but his input from his experience was wise. We had never had a house of our own painted before, so we needed some direction. After reviewing the fan deck of colors for another choice of trim and talking about the merits of each, we wrote down the colors and codes we liked and made a plan go get some pints of the paint to test them on the house before making the decision. We got the quote for the ceilings and the house about 5 days after he had been out to inspect. We had him booked about a week and a half later. The power wash was on Friday (even our sunporch that wasn't going to be painted, which was so nice). They came out on a Saturday and painted the ceilings in our house in record time (about 4 hours). The ceilings are much, much brighter and there were no drips and all of the edges were crisp and clean. Everything was treated with care and covered. They are immaculate workers. They started the outside of the house on Monday and it only took 2 days. We had a miscommunication about some trim (my fault) to be painted and the rest of the trim was done within 48 hours of my call. I would hire them again over and over. They are good, trustful guys who are respectful and walk their talk. Initially, we were worried they wouldn't want to do the job at our house because we're lesbians and they are obviously Christian men (they have a Bible verse on their business cards, and never mind that we are Christian ourselves), but they treated us with respect and gave us what I consider a very fair quote and a stellar paint job. read more

We specifically ask them to use the highest grade paint and they agreed. We even told them the paint we wanted. They switched the paint and used the lowest grade. We found out months later when we tried to wash a simple mark off the wall with just water. The old paint came shining through. These painters will suck you in and then dol only what works in their benefit. I wouldn't even give them one star. On top of this, I did not find them (son/father/etc) very nice people. read more

Included in the contract was to use the top quality paint from the provider (there are 3 grade levels available). After the paint job, had to clean a smudge off the wall...when doing so the paint washed off down to the original paint color using warm water. When checking the spec number on the can, found that The Painter Man had used the lowest quality of paint available even though I paid for the most expensive. When contacting them on the matter, there was no response. You be the judge. read more

We just had our townhouse painted by Gerry and Jon Hans and couldn't be more pleased.
